Earlier this week, Namco Bandai brought us the SC5 World Championships in which 8 players from around the world competed for a cool $10,000 ! If you watched the event live (which I unfortunately couldn't), you would have seen that Hori USA was running a special promotion for their Soulcalibur 5 Arcade Sticks.

Well Namco Bandai and Hori USA just informed me that this special promo will be extended until next week! The normal price for this stick, which is probably the best arcade stick Hori has ever made will run you a total of $150. Well using the coupon codes in the images below, you can save some money and get one of these sticks at a steal of $100!

In case you haven't been paying attention, Namco Bandai has put together a "world championship" event. During the past month, players have been competing for a chance to be invited to the finals; even if they didn't know it! Eight of the best players in the world are being flown in to Las Vegas, in order to compete in this very exclusive event.

The event will be streamed by Team Spooky and will feature commentary from Mark "MarkMan" Julio from MadCatz and Rich "filthieRich" Bantegui from Namco Bandai. In addition to that, Namco Bandai has just released a teaser trailer for this event showing off the players who will be competing for that $10,000 prize!

Well we got hints a while back of an upcoming balance patch for Soulcalibur V coming this Tuesday. And of course, when it comes to any sort of significant changes to a fighting game, we all get a bit worried. Would our favorite characters get nerfed? If so, how hard will they get nerfed? How will this affect tournaments?

Thankfully, for the first time ever, Namco-Bandai has supplied us with an extensive list of changes! While it may be "extensive", its not exactly "comprehensive"; there is very little mention of the actual frames of changes. But none the less, this gives us all a point of focus for our research!

I would have posted this sooner, but I was too busy getting my ass beat at Final Round. This weekend, @MrMLGAdam MLG's Adam Apicella announced that Soulcalibur V and King of Fighters XIII would be joining Mortal Kombat 9 in their fighting game lineup for the 2012 season! In addition to that, the first event would be this month and feature $16,700 in prizes for each game!

The first SC5 tournament at MLG will be between March 23-25 at MLG Columbus Winter Championships. The schedule has already been posted and can be found after the break. Entry fees for MLG events are significantly higher than you may be used to, but the awards are much more lucrative. The majority of readers here are unfamiliar with the MLG experience, but don't worry, there is a very straight-forward announcement post explaining schedules, entry fees and gold memberships on the MLG website.
