Rock's don'ts

There some information around about what we should do (such as top 10 moves and some other advice buried in threads). But I don't think there is much information about the general don'ts.

I'm nearly decent with Rock but I can kick butt with other characters more so than with rock. So, perhaps there are some major flaws with how I play Rock.

So how about a thread showing what new Rock players should try avoiding and perhaps what you'd emphasize using (dos)?

Don't play a CAS Rock, I guess... Too many disadvantages.
Don't use 6K too much. The opponent must not expect it. You DON'T want them to block it.
Try to block punish with throws very often. Rock's throw range is huge, use that strength of his.

don't use WS B close range.

don't bother using 22A

don't try to outspeed your opponent.... be patient.

don't be afraid to throw more.

I agree with pretty much everything here. :P I'm going to type some stuff just to check if I understand rock. Correct me if I'm wrong because I'm far from being pro.

When I first started out with rock, I barely used any of his standing throws. Soon, I realized that throws are very important. I underestimated the regular B+G throw that leaves the opponent on the ground right in front of you. If the opponent is get-up-off-the-ground-real-fast-happy, grab or 2B+K right away ^^. If the opponent is roll-happy, some sweeping moves may be useful--2A, 2A+K, 1K. Even the A+G throw ^^. Use it, then tap 6 and bang (jf dash), rock's right there in front of the opponent's face (hopefully). I felt that learning jf dash (i'm not uber at it yet xD) helped a LOT. Rock has turned from a push-over to someone who is capable of pressure.

I hardly use 11B. or 11. Too slow and risky for a 11-based move..I think.

Real men use their ground throw against rollers. (And sleepers.)

...The vertical unblockable can work against sleepers and the horizontal unblockable can work against rollers. But of course, not in high level play.

It can ring out and wall splat too, giving you a free crouch throw.

11B, 22B, B+K, 66B and 3B+G are all extremely manly moves

22A however is an extremely feminine move that even Astaroth can do more gracefully ^^"

Unblockables? Meaning those very slow, fiery ones? I don't know of any horizontal unblockables that rock has which sweep the floor. So I don't know of any unblockable that works against a roller.

Mmm, right.
By rollers, I understood those who roll a little bit and then get up. So...basically, those who won't get caught by the vertical unblockable after a ground throw. >.>

Sorry, I guess that I forgot that we're not forced to get up... But as I said, it's not something that should work in high level play anyway.

if online beginners like to roll and get up, the unblockable may knock them dead :D.

Otherwise (I don't play online :x), I just jf dash to catch up to them. And hopefully I'll nail them with something as they get up. ^^

In two years NOBODY posted the biggest rock no-no of them all.
DO NOT pick Rock against Yoda.
You should all be ashamed of yourselves =P
On a more practical note, don't BB against kilik... Fucking Asura dance... ~_~

Yes he's more useless than ever but he's still fun, so screw you =P
To quote Xeph, manly men use rock! XD

Rock wasn´t useless in other SC´s. I assure you. In fact, this! is the first time he is bad... And i mean really bad. But OK, manly man use Rock... and loose. No offense just logic. ;)
