All that means is that it's not meaningful unless people agree with a viewpoint. But, such a dynamic can change easily. And if it's all perception, then it's just a game of rationale and persuasion.

But that depends on the type of audience. If it's just a circle of friends, online spectators (XBL & PSN) and/or anyone with no experience or lack thereof in tournies & gatherings, then I wouldn't take info from those group of ppl. You're good when people say you are. It doesn't matter what you achieve. It doesn't matter how much skill you think you got...you're only as good as people say you are. It's relative. lol
Are we just dumb kids playing a meaningless game?
I meant to say this too; Dully is a fuckin' genius.Yes.
Also there isn't a significant correlation between having a high IQ and being good at fighting games.

I say sum1's ability to adapt as well as having a vast knowledge of characters as well as different play-styles is what makes the player good. Players who place themselves to the top demonstrate such. They are exposed to different characters and play styles from many battles in tournaments and gatherings.
Nope, I wasn't judging anyone by any means or at least I wasn't trying to. However, there are offline players who are too quick to judge. And so you believe your experience as an offline player qualifies you to judge the skill of any player?
Well it depends who I consider top players. I haven't mentioned names but at least from my perspective I'm not looking at American tournaments alone. If this is what you believe your vastly mistaken. The skill of an individual can't be measured simply. The possibility of some no name individual showing up to any random gathering or tournament and completely destroying these top players you mention is always highly possible.
Yes I stand where I stand. While I do agree there are good players out there the question is how do you prove it? How do we know that this individual is exceptionally good? How can we tell if Babalook, Freaky-Styley, Tidal-Leaf (online individuals) are gonna do well offline?Where you stand, a player must pass the test of tournaments to be considered good. From where I stand a good player is a good player, whether offline or online, whether I know of him or not.
chaos no offense but... what the hell is the purpose of this thread? or rather, what the hell is the purpose of all your threads? all you've been doing is opening up more discussions -__- a never ending cycle of arguments, actually they ended pretty quick (they were closed) what the hell do you care what people think anyway, just shut up and play the game and like some say "let your characters do the talking" like nofzcekiller said himself go to evo and talk all you want there
Yes.

No Chaos, you want the same thing you've always wanted with each thread you make. Someone to tell you these exact lines.I just wanted to hear peoples opinion on the subject.
it doesn't matter if you're black or white

"You're the best motherfucking player ever. I bow to you. We're truly not worthy. People undervalue your skill because you use algol, while using less than questionable tactics online. I say these people are just jealous, and sore losers who fail to give you the recognition you so rightly deserve. You won so you're rightly the better player; that's all that matters. The outcome is you're a winner Chaos and a bloody good one at that, and that means you're the best. Keep doing what you do man, don't let these haters get you down."
There...you may retire.
IM THE BEST PLAYER MY MOMMY SAID SOYou're good when people say you are. It doesn't matter what you achieve. It doesn't matter how much skill you think you got...you're only as good as people say you are. It's relative. lol
