Soul Calibur 5 Guest/Bonus/CAS Character Discussion

well Daishi said he would like to have Final Fantasy Characters. but there are alot to chose from, and aside from that Lightning from XIII-2 wouldn't happen, maybe current Lightning but not from XIII-2. The Reason is because Lightning was Scraped from the Original Dissidia because FFXIII had not come out yet, Tetsuya Nomora didn't want to reveal her gameplay before her own game was release(think of it was a way of spoilers). Other then the Licensing, It's possible for Lightning to be in the game...i mean Cervantes has a gun too >_>'

Well this was true before FFXIII came out, Lightning was completely unknown at the time, however that is not true anymore. I'm guessing XIII-2 will have similar moves to her XIII counterpart. That wouldn't stop Namco from turning to the original however and using that as the base, and using the XIII-2 outfit as her P2 outfit.

In terms of fantasy, the guest story of claymore with soul calibur would seem cool IMO.
But since it's not as popular as Naruto, Bleach, One Piece, etc, it's more likely to be ignored.
Not only that, I'm pretty sure Namco might whip out a claymore style person of their own.

Can't help but think of the bonus characters. I think they can be considered a failure, one of Namco's bright ideas that ended up losing focus, so they turned them into a bunch of clones.

As for anime characters, I think they lack a certain credibility, in terms of what SC games try to achieve, specifically being a certain level of realism. Perhaps believability is a better word...

For instance, if they picked up the AC series with new characters and a new protaganist with an arch enemy to go after/stop, that would at least be a little more believable to me...

Basically I think even simply the idea of guests can be valuable to the game. It all starts with what-ifs

So what are you trying trying to say, jrasta? I've read this post and I can't wrap my head around the last part in red. Elaborate.

I would want Wakka to be in the game if were talking FF LOL HIS WEAPON BEING A FLIPPIN BALL!! JK JK projectiles have no place in SC.... but still, it would be fun :)

Ok Namu, I was furthering something I said earlier. I'm trying to find a reason for AC characters to find themselves in SC5, going after cursed swords... Never said it was particularly good idea lol

Guests always have some "cameo-mumbo-jumbo-oh-this-is-why-I'm-here" excuse. Like Vader found some portal or oddity and went into it and said, "hey, I want those two swords so I can pwn all who oppose me harder". That's usually how it goes when guests come to SC. Oh well.

Apparently we're supposed to be surprised again.

I'm hoping for Malcolm Reynolds with his screwdriver from the movie, and River Tam with sword/axe combo.

You know, I think guests actually deserve a bit more respect then they get around here. A guest can be beneficial to both parties, when I bought SC4, seeing Vader on the cover gave me a nudge, but I still only bought it because it was Soul Calibur.

I guess I probably should just ignore the ones opening with something like, 'I don't want guests but if we HAVE to have them I want'...

If the artstyle and aesthetic is to get a little grittier, which seems to be the case; I hope they choose characters that are NOT from anime or manga styled games, or JRPGS.

Guest Characters I would like to see:

Either of the Assassins creed guys would work great!

A Belmont from a Castlevania game; any Belmont.... not Alucard, please.

I wouldn't be opposed to seeing Link back, but that means that they would be system specific guests, and that means they wouldn't be tournament viable which would make me sad, because that would turn people away who's entrance to the game is those things. You can't exactly practice against a character you've never had the chance to play before; hence the reason for the ban- it would create an unfair environment for competition.

"- The game has new characters, old characters with new weapons, and guest characters."

Theory about what is possible?

Mine

-Mitsu learned to use 2 katanas

-Maxi double Nunchaku Li Long's style

-Voldo can ever beat up you in weird style, does'nt matter what sh*t is applied to his hands

-Hilde with heavy knight lance? (like Girardot's)

-Lizardman go berserk and start use axe+sword or axe+axe?

-Lizardman 2nd idea: classic "greek hoplites", big shied + spear

-Astaroth: bare hands? Huge iron spiked chainball? Maxi dead body? :D

-Taki: kusarigama?

yeah man would love to see a belmont in there!!! But they are kinda animeish. Plus I think something from japan would be better implimented in the game rather then something more western Via Kratos and starwars.

Probably the same weapon type, just with a different name. For example, it's possible that Kilik passed on Kali-Yuga and could return with a differently named rod.
