SC5 Weapon Ideas (JOKE WEAPONS INCLUDED)

A ball and chain (ala Twilight Princess: http://www.zeldawiki.org/Ball_and_Chain). I've talked about this before, but to re-elaborate the moveset would be based on two different kinds of moves: moves that are slower but "get the ball rolling" by transitioning to a stance where the weapon user twirls the ball around his or her head, and moves that are based on momentum during the stance.

A kusarigama, a quiang (chinese spear, it would be basically like Killik style but more focused on piercing and cutting after the initial hit), a viking double wielding a broadsword and a short axe, a two-handed sword but normal sized, a dancer with a scmitar...

More realistic weapons it's what I would like more, weapons that you could see in a martial arts movie.

I'm sure fighting with a boating implement intrigues certain people here, but those shaolin weapons -the 3 section staff and twin hooks have a LOT of potential for a really cool moveset. I would not write them off as being lame.

I really don't see how the giant paddle can be that much different from a siegfried "sword club" type moveset. If anything, they would be "unlockable" weapon skins at best (which i believe the giant paddle already was)

If you do your research, the Eku was fought in a style similar to a staff and a polearm, with more emphasis on it's ability to knock people around.
Making a new weapon isn't about the obvious, it's about the style, and the character that goes along with it. Sigfried's greatsword is nothing like how people who use a greatsword actually fight, so going on the presumption that you can take a look at a weapon and determine instantly a character and a method it's being used is kind of a folly. Also, the weapon was used legendarily when the Japanese conquered Okinawa and forbade the people from owning weapons, so they adapted everyday weapons into their martial arts styles.

So, allow ME to generalize for a moment to show you what your criticism sounds like:
A three sections staff is cool, but I mean really its just 3 sticks held together by small bits of chain in between, wouldn't that just make it like an extra long Maxi weapon? I mean they could just use it as super nunchaku skin really.

Shaolin monks and weapons are so terribly, terribly overdone. If the game is gonna be blatantly asian-centric, at the very least they could make it interesting in some way.

Add blades at the end and you got this:

But as you said the weapon is similar to that of a staff and a polearm. Meaning if mini and kilik get replacements, then we'll have a third staff esque character in the game. That is why I chose the tessen:

OR the wind and fire wheels :

Because they wouldn't be like anything in the game right now. Although the weapons might be used in some other video games and kung fu movies, granted I can only think of one other place with the wind and fire wheels, doesn't mean they wouldn't be new to soul calibur and warrant some fresh and exciting fighting styles, mechanics and personalities.

So you're telling me that the the beatdown happened only due to other weapons being forbidden ? Thats my point, it's not too menacing and would not be the weapon of choice if the situation allowed for weapons (like in a video game).

Yeah i don't think maxi's coming back. Even if he managed to ditch his nunchucks and was given another asian-centric weapon (like the eku).
