SoulCalibur V Interview with Producer Tago-san

regardless of what he says, if SCV doesn't do well, there won't be a 6+... at least not for a very long time.

First of all...could they have gotten an even more WORSE translator...? Good fucken god I rather listen to Tago speak japanese and try to guess what he's talking about then to EVER listen to that broad....
Other then that....CAN'T FUCKEN WAIT FOR THIS GOD DAMN GAME!!!!

Faster game speed, stronger movement, higher damage, guard breaks that matter...if weight is a big factor everything on my system checklist will make it in.

Is Sieg the whipping boy or something? I'm yet to see him not getting beaten up in a vid yet ~_~

He loves it.

I'm gonna make two prophecies:
1. Ivy players will spend the first 3 months of release moaning about her, only to find she's the best character in the game YET AGAIN
=/

I will never moan... unless of course shes too basic, costume is way too safe aswell but she purr-tee.

I'm really likin' what I've seen so far. The graphics and the mobility of the game are Nyce and fluid. From what I understood from the interview [which wasn't very much], They're removin' one of Ivy's SCIV stances and revampin' the other two, I think that's cool, but I wish they would bring back her SCII stances. They were the best for her to me, but I think they'll do a good job with her.

Hmm...So Ivy's "What-the-Fuck hard" throw at 1:35 used meter...I have a hunch: I think they're goin' to replace the Just Frame system of SCIV, with this "Critical Gauge" meter management system, which means that every JF they we could do in SCIV [ex Tira's GS JF 66B], will now require meter to use. Why do I think this? Well, Ivy's throw used some of her meter, and even Mitsu's attack around 1:27 used some meter. Plus, they already said in an earlier explanation of the Critical Gauge, that you could use its meter to add properties and extra hits to a move. So the way I see it is, they're swappin' the more "difficult" execution heavy based system [JF] with this "simpler" meter management system [CG]. This is probably why it looks like everything in this game builds meter...I think it's an interestin' change. Hopefully, if they plan on takin' away the execution strict system, they'll bring back the buffer/delay/cancel mechanic they had back in the day.

I'm looking forward to any translation, as the video's translator's english could use some work.

Ivy becoming "easier" to use (as in more accessible to a wider audience) is not a guarantee she'll get a deserved nerf. She can still dominate ala SC4 amy just by just being incredibly strong in all aspects of the game, so fear not tier-whores.

And for the storyline, Ivy's going to be the mother-of-warriors, as she'll breast feed an entire legion of new developing SC characters for 3 version and her milk duds would still not run dry.

You mean the one on the Book, Star? Wasn't that just his wishes and not a confirmation? I thought he said that the team would "like" to continue with more installments in the series.

U might be right, but i dont see how his statements in this vid make that possibility anymore concrete... But ah well. Still glad to see them plan for more!

So glad to see you, Shirt!!!!!! :)

P.s. I totally agree that Ivy still looks fugly in this version.... :P

-Pros
>The graphics are looking great
>Critical Finish is still in
>Meter management for specials
>Easier to use Ivy
-Cons
>No signs of Armor break. (no battle damage cloths makes the fight look less fierce)
>Damage output is too high for normals.(I don't want to watch a high level 10 sec fight)
>Don't see any major or minor animation changes.(looks like we're playing SC4)

Can't wait to be beasting with Ivy in SC5. I would've preferred her SC2 style also, but oh well.

The game looks faster than sc4. that's good.

I really hope they keep how you can stay in whatever stance you want.. I loved that about Ivy in SC4. Before, you could only do a few moves before being forced back into sword, and I hated that..

I really like the fact that rounds are shorter because well...you know....they are hitting each other with WEAPONS! It makes the fight seem like a real sword fight. It would seem there is more of a comeback chance as well.

you realize the battles are most-likely only shorter because they sped up the animations, right? So you stab the opponent, then they sprint around the stage at .5x the speed as before. x.x
