lmao I just realized, Ezio couldn't possibly be in Soul Calibur, because it's not in the same time period. Ezio lived from the 1476 to the early 1500's, yet SCV is going to be in the early 1600's, almost (and probably) a whole 100 years after the events of AC2, Brotherhood, and probably Revelations.
Then again, Ubisoft can create a new Assassin fit for the Soul Calibur era (think something similar to the guest artists in SCIV), and its backstory probably mentions Ezio and Altair, and the possibility of Soul Calibur and Soul Edge being Pieces of Eden (or rather, just one piece, since SC was made from the metal of SE).
But yeah, Ezio can't be in SCV.
Link, Spawn, and Star Wars characters have been in SC. SCV “takes place” in the year 1600, where... Greeks still worship the ancient gods? A Victorian-dressed fencer and girl exist? Not to mention magic, which has been used to explain random guests before, and AC’s plot, which includes time displacement (not exactly time travel, but certainly within the scope of the supernatural forces present) as a central plot device.
I
seriously doubt that NBG would stress over the 100 years’ difference. Whether they
should stress about it, or my personal feelings on Ezio’s suitability or desirability as a guest character, are completely irrelevant to this point. If Ezio
was in the game, they might throw in some lip service as to some temporal disturbance or the Apple or whatever justification they wanted, but they probably wouldn’t make a big deal out of it.
Most tellingly. when has SC’s alleged timeframe ever, and I mean
ever, had any bearing or impact on its own internal plot? I mean, other than providing a very very loose set of warrior types and environments (most of whom could come from anytime within ±200 years of the stated timeline). When your own supposed timeframe doesn’t really matter, it becomes pretty easy to incorporate someone else’s timeframe.
Now, Altair is another matter, as we are now talking about Medieval instead of Renaissance - a much bigger shift. And the Dynasty Warriors crap that people keep thinking is possible? That’s more like FIFTEEN HUNDRED years’ difference! Complete nonsense that would
require some kind of magical explanation. Just as bad as if a cyborg showed up, in my opinion. [Edit: visually, dynasty warriors would work fine, if you were completely ignorant of costume/martial history. They are, after all, historical melee fighters. But even Namco probably wouldn’t simply
ignore the massive time difference in this case.]
