Ivy SCIV->SCV Changes

I hope that maybe they just switched the animation and now SS is gonna have old CS startup. We will see.

Funny they keep doing these visually changes. SC3 CS came out of WP, SS came out of SW. SC4 SS came out of WP, CS came out of SW. Now for SC5 CS has SS start animation.

Some speculation on Ivy throw game so far.

I believe SS won't be like "previous version". Right now SS can only be done using the meter. Use a normal grab and sacrifice meter to change normal grab to SS. My reasoning is cause I am not sure how they will balance Ivy CE attack, which really is a throw. It does very good damage, has short range but it instantaneous and it look like you can escape it, your unless out of range (maybe if you ducked too).

So if Ivy going to have SW/WP with B+K/A+K transition, that would mean Ivy would have CS/SS mix up at all time. A simple SW 2A buffer CS/SS, add in Ivy's CE (which looks unbreakable) and Ivy's throw pressure might be too strong. The window to break SS/CS is same pluse the unique animation make it harder to break, So to compensate Namco took access away and made it available using meter.

If this turns out to be in the final build, overall I believe this will hurt Ivy throw game. If CS is still A+G and in SW then people will try to break A at obvious setups. If you try to go for SS using meter you will mostly use B+G and since the animation is her normal throw it will be easier to break or duck. Although this system would benefit WP since it would then be a 50/50 shot A+G/B+G use meter for SS.

I hope this is not the case, and there will be input to buffer for both CS/SS and they both get their unique start up animations again.

If you could sacrifice the meter to change a normal grab into SS then her throw game would theoretically become more powerful (like Asta in SCIV) but SS damage seems to be only 60-65 dmg to my eye. Unless it has small break window it's not really worth to use the meter for only 10 dmg boost imo. BTW Daishi mentioned that CS is B throw again!

I don't see why you guys are complaining about the changes to Ivy, shes a broken character' Her style is entirely based on tech-traps, odds are she is still like this on soulcalibur 5. IMO she is the cheapest character on soulcalibur and before you call me a noob or a scrub you should know i've had alot of experience with Ivy tech-trap players their all equally annoying. No one respects Ivy tech-trap players they are number one on the kicklist.

Or, instead of hating on them for winning, you can be smart and learn to avoid the moves? Sound like a good idea!? :D

First off i've beaten my fair share of ivy tech-trap players and my reasons for hating them are solid her whole style is based on tech traps any decent soulcalibur player knows im right don't diss me because im speaking the truth about the lamest character in the game.(besides the yoda guest character)

for the sake of the community and getting new people to play

Ivy's whole style is not based on tech traps, it's the user's style that may depend on tech traps, which doesn't apply to everyone. I am saying this to you in a nice way, but don't go thinking you will not get flamed for it.

Your the equivilent of campers on call of duty
Also, "camping" on Call of Duty isn't against any set of rules, it's just a defensive strategy some players use. I bet that you have "camped" on CoD before yourself. If you don't like it, don't play it. You are obviously not good enough to beat those "scrubs" that you say who camp all the time. That makes you just as much of a scrub as they are because you can't beat them.

.nobody respects ivy techtrap players.
A lot more people respect a good Ivy player than a scrub who low spams with Siegfried. Face it, you are fighting a losing battle.

Maybe he gets launched and then rolls otg until he is stomped to death with SW 214K. A lot of people do that. But you can always get up!

Seriously, I think stonewall34 is actually referring to a lag low spamming Ivys online.

I am glad to see Coil stance go, I never liked it. I am satisfied with sword, whip, and snake embrace. They'll probably work to make these more significant.

One tech trap I've that I respect from Ivy players is her advanced grab on Ukemi. It works the same as Xianghua's low grab on Ukemi as well. but Ivy's range is much further so is easy to grasp an opponent than that short low grab. The only way to get out of it is that 50-50 chance of a throw escape. otherwise it's pretty much full proof. I've seen it done at a soul calibur 4 tournament I went to in Pasadena earlier this year. I didn't get to face the guy because he used a darth Vader on me. (my first time against Vader so I lost.)
