Xiba Non-Gameplay Discussion Thread

You can pronounce it however the hell you want, all I did was point out how it would be pronounced in Chinese.

I just wanna harken back to the issue about Xiba's body type really quick

I really don't think it's THAT huge *well... he does have juggernaut arms o.o* I think the REAL problem is the way his shirt is practically hovering over his body..... am i the only one who sees this.....

Idk I've seen many people his age with his body type and baby face.

His top looks too much like ZWEI's imo.

Hes not bad looking but they could toned down his body just a bit, and god hope he has confidence in himsf ao he doesnt turn out to be a male pyrrah

Also i dont think he could replace both kilik and mina, maybe he has a monkey sister :/?

If Xiba had a sister that replaced Seong Mi-na, I would die of happiness. That would be amazing imo.

lmao, I doubt they're be a monkey sister, since Maxi's little field trip group of Natsu, him, and Leixia is big enough, but adding a polearm-wielding sister would make sense in hindsight.

but anywho

Pronounced in Chinese it's Lay-shaa. Don't stress the L sound and pronunciate it in one smooth sound. Often it'll sound like ray-sha.

Xia, like hua, and tsu have a very specific sounsd to it. You don't sound out every vowel to get the right pronunciation.

That's because it isn't, whether in Cantonese or Mandarin. Windstar has the most accurate point.

At the very beginning of his introduction, I thought he might be that young martial artist mentioned in Mitsurugi's profile, but after his side was given, this seems more unlikely.

I don't mean to sound holier than thou.
But I am CHINESE. I speak fluent Chinese and fairly fluent Cantonese and Hokkien.
In NO dialect is "Xia" pronounced "Sha".
You are perfectly right on the "Lay" though.

Edit: Unless the actual character is pronounced "Sha" and it has been romanized differently (like every other video game character with a chinese name) You have her name in actual chinese though?

i think the confusion is caused by the fact that there's no possible way to write it properly in english. when you write it as seeah, most people would simply read that as sea-ah, it would be too long compared to the proper pronounciation.

what do you think about the google translate pronounciation though? is it correct? might as well send people there if they're wondering how to properly pronounce it. and successfully make them stop the zeeb(r)as and laykshas

the chat is cracking me up lol

Based on the trailer it really does look like Xiba is a combination of Kilik and Yun-Seong. He uses a pole but also uses some kicks that are reminiscent of Yun. I think this character is supposed to count as the replacedment for both Kilik and Yun.

I have no qualms with the character yet but will need to see some gameplay vids and hear the voice (in english) before I decide whether or not he gets a positive acceptance or a negative acceptance

Yeah, sorry I don't mean to call you wrong either. Anyway here's her name in Japanese and Chinese.

レイシャ
燕蕾夏

Anyway, the first character in her Chinese name is her family name, Yan, the other two characters are her full name, Lei xia
