Soul Calibur V Raphael - Nerfs? Buffs? Change Of Style?

Thanks for the correction.
Yeah I hope he has an auto evade from neutral.
And please bring back 2_8 twirling from preps. (I don't mind if it replaces SEA_B)

It's Shadow Evade β. He's doing SEB from new Prep. There is no evidence SEA exists in SC V.
It's either Shadow Evade or called something new, so we can either call it SEB for looking the same and having 2/3 of the same options, or SE to nod to the Shadow Evade role for Raph while not to privilege the existence of an SEA we have no evidence for. I don't think continuing to say SEA makes sense with the information we have by now.

'd rather Preparation had good shit than have prep-prolonging twirl option, but, with Vurkolak apparently gone, seems it will get something to sidestep. Or maybe it will have the frames to interrupt any mid.

Not sure what raph's answers are to a fast TC in prep, as his 6BBB and 6AB string looks to be high. Hopefully either his prep retreating aGI or his retreating low will solve the trick.

Some comments on stream:

6BB~BE seems to be pretty damage for a i13 punish

has a new slow 236A jumping mid horizontal that predictably wont be a core move.

66B seems to always GB now?

Raph's CE is hella fast as an interupt,

his prep low reminds me of kilik's 4B+K, and he lets out a really funny snotty french laugh. Probably worth it for the laught.

And lastly... his auto evade is back, he has his VE animation if successful, but enveloped with a supernatural teleport aura! hella cool! So, as many of us predicted (as long as they were listening to me), his AE has merged with this teleports. He has VE A in it for sure, lets hope the frames on that move remains beastly.

Honestly, bring back the SC2 stances, I loved the complexity. One prep and one sidestep is not enough! And Spiral/Circular Envelopment. And yes, bring back his 236 and 214 steps. And nerf Sophi's... lmao.

Basically all his SC2 utility moves... SC4 attack moveset is fine. Doesn't need to do as much damage as other characters... needs to be able to dodge more.
took the words right out of my head.

That would be nice, make him more 'serious'. Remove the funny looking attacks, like Prep K:K and 1K (altho I really love this move).

Some ideas on Raph stances:
New Prep (assuming they refuse to give him back his multiple preps)
Prep A - Same, make it track to Raph's left and give advantage on hit. (Make it slightly unsafe, around -14?)
Prep 4A - 4A, please give this Crumple Stun on CH.
Prep 4[A] - Raphael will cancel his 4A into VE.
Prep B series - Same, but give Prep B(B)~Prep better transition frames
Prep 4B - 8WR 4B
Prep K - High impact, right side mid kick (similar to NM's 3K). Tracks to Raph's right, Double Over Stun on CH. (-15?)
Prep B+K - removed, since there's Prep 4A now.
Prep Throw - *This throw animation will be different from the normal throw animation.
Prep 2~SEA - Same

New VE: Bigger Step, no more Auto-Evade.
VE A - Same
VE 2A - Quick Low Horizontal Swipe, Low damage (-16 on block)
VE B series - Same
VE K - Same
VE (K) - Chargeable version of VE K, huge blockstun + soul gauge.
VE A+B - Slow Horizontal High, slight block stun, decent gauge.
VE 4/6 - Raphael teleports while in VE (not the current teleport animation), 4/6 just moves him forward or backwards (about 2 character spaces). Not in front or behind the enemy. Recovers neutral.
VE Throw - Same deal. Remove the blood suck on Voldo. Raph is not blind!

Jump Evade (7_8_9G, Raph has no normal jump)
JE ABB - Hori Mid, Vert Mid, 236B. JE AB is NC, JE ABB is NCC.
JE 1A - SC 2 1A (Low hori swipe)
JE 4/6 - Raphael teleports while JEing, similar to VE 4/6.

Notes:
*Raphael will push the enemy with his sword hilt, if it connects, Raphael will stab the enemy's heart (15 dmg) while the enemy's being pushed back, does a little twist (20 dmg), then pulling his rapier out (15 dmg) (Total of 50 dmg). The enemy will drop kneeling down then fall face down feet away.

EDIT:
1. Typo error, 60 dmg should be 50 dmg.
2. Forgot to add VE Throw.
3. Prep 4aG to Prep 4[A]
the prep 4(A) VE sounds very interesting. but in VE (B) goes into prep. Oooooh, how's that?!

Can anybody explain to me the difference in usage for BBB and 3(B)~BB in SC5 ?

I can see the CH damage being similar and BBB being slightly less safe. Both offer literally no tracking and it's likely the 3rd hit of BBB is steppable if the first two are guarded.

Guess we will have to wait and see :)

In sc4 Bbs only advantage was it was hard to step

What i'm worried about is that now BB will be in the low 20s for damage (to keep the entire CH BBB combo within 45ish damage) . However, I do recall that all basic AA and BB moves will get toned down a bit so maybe there is a reason for it.

I don't recall the reduced bit (in that tago interview) but I do recall the buff to damage to his verticals. If that is the case, then why is 236B so puny on hit?! And by puny, I mean back to 40 damage (when it was buffed to almost 50 in SC4B:D)

I might have Raph mixed up with Xiaua or however you spell her name they said they where gonna add to her speed and range while reduceing her power and stances

By the way, do any of you know if Raph's other launchers are back? Like his SCIII 33B and 3B. I know his SCIII 11B is back in SCV, but any others?
11B is back, is the whole dark heart move back from amy or is this just a dream? fencing at it's finest.

Raph's ringout game in SC4 was pretty much the worse in the game by far, so anything is a buff. However, I do like the gimmick where he is a - by design - poor ringout character , which should be compensated by his ability to have one of the best forward/backwards movement and attack strings that push the opponent a farways back on block and hit.

They should have sped up his SC4 FC3B animation (sort of like mina's FC1B is a sped up version of kilik's ) to make the low poke more useable. That, or give it a BE version where it will NH with a 236B followup (Raph's BE bonus attacks seem limited right now)

His poking, keep-out, and movement all look much more well rounded than SCIV. That's what he's best at and that's how I will be playing him. With few combo/set-up/RO opportunities, less is always more as far as raph is concerned.
