Astaroth Vids

I thought I'd share this since it got quite some good reputation on it. It's a fight between my brother against Raphael with my Astaroth. With it, I'm hoping if there's any tips here that can help me become a better Astaroth player. Please enjoy:

nice vids... congratulations on winning... but from watching the vids ur seigfried opponent seems much more efficient with his character... u have a good asta... but u could improve ur ground game... 3B on a smart grounded opponent is not usefull... 3b has better applications such as after jumping back... rather than that ur throw game is pretty solid... u could also work on wall combos a bit...

That was a damn good fight man.. I'm gonna add you, I have a trick or two I can show you with Asta.

lol... i don't really know him... but he seems good... and yes, to me one of the best applications for 3B is after jumping back... in sc4 they nerfed asta's step and jumps... so stepping with him isn't as fun as before... a lot of times to get away i jump back... then either 3B or 66K... as for CH i use 44B or 66A,B... or to kill step 44A... jumping back lets me create great spacing options...

We had an offline gathering on the weekend and someone brought a camera, ive got some of my asta vs hilde matches and I was wondering if anyone could give me pointers on how to improve my asta's game. like better follow ups or better moves to apply in situations etc etc.

Thanks in advance ^^

I just watched that vid above and I have to ask, where's the 6A/6AB? Seig should be staring down 70+ damage for attacking after 3. That match up feels hard enough without letting him get away with SCH junk. Good job winning, seriously.

Also it's sad the English version can't have cool sounding words flash on the screen like "victoire" and "gagne". France lucked out with this release.

Well.... saioth would trash me anyday of the week with his eyes closed. But your right about 6A. That makes playing against Seigs a whole heck of alot easier. That...and it seems as though 4B punishes seig a lot as well.

Good to know I am the only Asta player that uses 4B+KB into 22K, 22B, PT, or A+G.
I am calling this shit mine son.

If they're foolish enough, to start getting up after...use PT once, they lose half their bar...and they will think twice.
BTW 22B isn't guaranteed either...it's the TP techtrap that scares them into laying there.

I dont do 6AB after his 3 because he stopped to attack after 1 or 2 counter (we had a winner bracket final before the grand finals). And if I do 6AB on NH, B part is blocked and 3 punished :)

Oh and only 6A on NH sucks badly, look for the data on it !

After Sieg's 3, do a 4B. 4B sucks as much as 6A does on NH but at least you don't have to worry about getting punished to death.

In general, against a knowledgeable opponent, only use 6A to punish if the opponent would die from the punishing =P

What is TP ???

I meant PT lol.

6A against Sieg's 3B is a good idea. 6A on NH or CH can lead into mind games, at least for me I have been known to do 6A into 63214B+G_A+G or 6A 4B...but only when 6A hits.

If people start punishing 6A on NH, they become vulnerable to 6AB 2A+K or 22B if you can get away with it.

And where's 6K NH 63214B+G_A+G nobody does this...?

Yeah 4B is a good option, you have to react quickly to 3 but still :)
If I know the Sieg ain't gonna attack after his blocked 3, command throws are the best IMO ... It's a mind game but heavily in Asta's favor, and it can implement fear into your opponent really fast :)

When Asta blocks 3 4B won't beat out much of anything unless the Sieg player doesn't attack right away.
3 K trades hits with Asta's 4B when he blocks 3.
3 AA beats out Asta's 4B completely.

6A and 2K are still Asta's best options against Sieg's 3...you shouldn't let frame data take too much attention to every move.

6A is a good move...Even though it gives no advantage on NH or CH, it's fast !12 and safe. And most people will be waiting to finish the string with 6AB to punish. So you have a mind game opportunity right there without any real effort.

I've wondered, can Seig duck before the throws come out? Either with SCH B+K or SCH [G]2? I've never fought a Seig who didn't attack and I always figured the throw would be the way to go, but haven't gotten to try it on anyone...

Also on the subject of Seig's 3, I'm not 100% on this, but 4B beats SCH A+B and SCH B, loses to SCH K/SCH kB and ties with SCH A. That right? or does 4B duck SCH A first hit?

/edit/ In response to the post immediately above: 6A is + on CH and SCH doesn't have an "AA" input; A does both hits and [A] is the one where he attacks once then goes into stance.

/double edit/ In response to the post immediately below: correct

On a different note, I keep getting Suirad and Saitoh confused. One of them's in France and won a tournament... that's Saitoh, right?
