Maxi General Q&A

I was on the PSN last night for a while but I had to stop. At one point I felt like I would be convicted on multiple counts for first degree murder and rape the next morning.

Well my 1 night online experience was good while it lasted as I'm not really into online play. I prefer being able to hang out with folks, play casuals. and get to them them in person over alcohol after a major.

If I do come across one of you on here you will probably know it's me

Everyone seems to like 44K. I kinda like it but I think it's linearity gets problematic. I use it in long range wakeup. I'm actually feeling 66K to be honest, high and silly as it is.
 
I swore I got 44K to tech trap something. But this game goes so fast now its hard to see...hey, that tech traped NM to the right....type shit.

Ima play with it some more tonight.
 
Remember we were discussing what moves were possible from FC?. CE can also be used from FC or a WR state. This means characters with 3 hit strings (Pat's bbb comes to mind) where the 2nd hit is a high....well you get the picture.

Not just it's linearity but also it has weak priority. But I do like the frames and the distance it covers plus the TJ. And if they roll backwards after a knockdown man does that move hurt em.
 
2nd Legit day of Comp with Maxi today. The better people get with their characters the worse Maxi looks. You have to severely limit your move list to play him competitively and even then you have to take risks. You should never go into his stance for the most part just poke and move and hope the opponent makes a bad move leaving them open for a launcher. Still pretty sure he's the worst character in the game.

Are you sure you are playing Maxi? Looking for a launcher is not the most effective way to play him IMO.

Also Dampierre is by far the worst character in the game but I still like him.

Is there anything you'd like to contribute specifically? instead of just spreading 'Maxi sucks omg he's the worst" Let's work together to at least help you with the shortcomings you're having. Everyone's playstyle is different, help us to help you and each other....thanks.
 
has anyone else witnessed the ghost hitbox behind Maxi on RO A. Its happened a couple time for me. They will have stepped or rolled to my right and end up right behind my arm as i'm doing RO A and they get hit. Both times they were caught by surprise that they were interupted and I was able to land BT B+K before they knew what the hell was going on, lol.

And Deckard, I think Maxi might just not be the character for you. If you want a character that you can just throw shit out without thinking about it and be safe, Maxi is definitely not for you. Maybe try playing leixia or one of the pyrras. Maxi is about mixing it up to keep the enemy guessing. He got a lot of high risk high reward moves, you gotta learn to stop spamming those moves if you wanna be successful with Maxi.
 
281 wins 4 loses right on ranked xbl 100% with Maxi. This character is no joke he has so many ways to hit you for a LOT of damage. 44b is my favorite move ever.
 
Maxi really does crazy damage in this game. I barely even bother to use CE, i use my bar for 6A+B BE and GIs surprisingly. Stuff like 236K and 11B hurt after a GI and set up some good stuff. I'm working on some lockdown traps and stuff, stay tuned.
6A+B...his best move.
 
Deckard is right in the sense that it's probably going to get more difficult to use Maxi once people learn the gaps in his strings and whatnot. The good thing is that, unlike in SC4, Maxi can punish overzealous 2A whores really hard, and he doesn't have to guess his way out of taking damage every time a move is blocked. You disrespect Maxi at your own peril in this game.

So how is everyone choosing to spend their meter at this point? Saving for CE punishes seems crucial to me.

Also, I completely disagree with the people who were saying that B+K is useless a while back. It's a great punish from step, and unlike anything else with that speed and damage it gives a shit load of meter (Probably Maxi's best meter builder) instead of taking away some. Plus the whiffing issues are gone, and it's easier to execute. What, aside from safety, is not to love?

Just Guard online is just dumb pointless to even try the frames jumps...
anyhow it pointless to j guard if you dont see or have an amazing punish....[6A+B]BE can stop/interupt any thing..
heads up:
BE BL K, when you block the kick dont standup that shit crushes
ninjas and nightmare can handle maxi...
seig horizontal guard crush can evade under maxis 44B Ro A or B i thing.. this kid kept pulling out on me;)
44B good frames but seig pulls out some nice evades if timed right.
 
Dustbuster we all ready fought in ranked I won I had it uploaded now its my fights with Crazy J I went 3-0 against him and then he left =( Your maxi was mad tricky though GG
