Soul Calibur V Sales Discussion

I'm spreading the word about SC around my school. Our club is having a tournament for SC5, SSF4, and other games. I'm trying to make SC popular down here in Tekkenville lol.

Tekkenville? I'm pretty sure that if your school loves Tekken, then they'll love SC just the same.

I thought that at times, but here's my experience with talkin to ppl about SC and Tekken. They either like one fighting system over the other (some ppl claim that SC is "too hard"... Yeah, okay), the time period, or how much content the game has. Since Tekken is more popular and has been out a while longer, ppl grew up with it compared to the amount of ppl who grew up with SC. I hate when I ask someone about SC and they're like "Iz daT duh GamE wit duh swordz n magik?". *Sigh* yes, I know. Luckily there are some ppl at my school that rolls with Tekken and SC.

Look at it this way, Soul Calibur is Tekken with swords. If you convince them and point out which characters are like the equivalent to the other, I'm pretty sure they'll get the gist. Besides, it's the same game just with a different concept and plot.

PFFFFFFFFFF, hhahahaha.

Let me preface, this isn't an attack on you or anything but I really need to say:

I've seen you say similar things twice in this thread, but having played a whole lot of tekken and SC, they aren't anything alike.

The only thing the SC series has moved towards tekken in with SCIV to SCV is damage. Even then, Tekken still has more crazy stuff.

Risk/reward game doesn't play out the same, movement doesn't play out the same, footsies don't play out the same, no fighting style is similar to a tekken style (unless you count DJ, who looks PAINFULLY out of place in SCV when he plays..)

I wouldn't say that.
Where you from Talisman? Yuo guys going to EVO this year? I'm going.
I'm from CA, but I'm in Texas until June. I want to enter tourneys this year to get myself out there, not sure about Evo though.

It's July 6-8 at Caesar's Palace in Las Vegas. I don't think they have registration info yet.

Supposedly Evo is the most fun you can ever have. I wish I could go (cue violin music).

What!?!?!?!? My mom just moved to Vegas! He'll yeah, ya damn right I'll b there! Wait, do pros play there or amateurs? Or is it mixed?

EVO is THE biggest fighting game tournament for every big franchise. So yes, lots of pros fly out there for it. However there's a bunch of amateurs there, and if you can make it, it's well worth entering just for practice if nothing else.

Cool, thanks.

I thought reports were that this game sold better than expected. Which is all that is needed for their to be a possible sequel. The devs said if SCV did well they would be open to making several more games. I just hope it's enough and that next time they give Project Soul the time they need to make a truly amazing game. Had this one got more single player content and more characters it could have been the next 10/10 must have fighter all the reviewers would be raving about. The multiplayer is already phenomenal. More characters and more single player options would have rounded it out perfectly.
