Missing character discussion

All I want is good ol' Zasalamel. It's kinda rare to see a character with a Scythe as a weapon in almost any game.

Other then Zas, Amy was a fun style to be.

And... What happened to Yun-Seong? I loved playing as his style.

And Skeleton. Or at least the voice. But having a skeleton character was cool.(Even though s/he was unplayable, would still be nice to see s/he again.)

Characters I want to see back, in order:

1) Seong Mi-na; I loved her looks and personality. Sexy but not slutty, playful but not childish, confident but not pretentious. And there is enough room in this game for maybe 4 different staff / polearm styles => (staff [ Xiba]), piercing polearm (ranseur, trident, spear), slashing polearm (naginata, Mi-na's zanbatou, etc), slashing and piercing polearm (halberd, etc). Just let her be on par with Xiba / ex-Kilik for once.

2) Zasalamel; unique style, cool weapon, only black person. Personally I didn't like or play him that much, but he should return.

3) Yun-seong; bratty and not much of a personality (although still more bearable than Xiba). But as with Mi-na, I think that there is room for at least one other one-handed sword style (his Dao) besides Leixia's Jian. The style was also really distinct, e.g. unlike Kilik (copying and overshadowing Mi-na). And lastly, another missing Korean.

4) Cassandra; I'd take her over both Pyrrhas any day. Much better personality and a beautiful fighting stance.

5) Talim; yes, also unique style. And a good, heroic character. But her cuteness didn't enthrall me, her style was pretty weak (SC4), and I played her less than all others in past games (except Rock).

6) Setsuka; I didn't like her and never got the hang of her style, but I'd rather have her with that style than Alpha Patroklos.

7) Rock; I can't remember that he was ever good or interesting to play. Should return buffed, but not too similar to Astaroth.

I wasn't the best at Talim, but I loved her character. She was innocent, but very able in combat. I'm sure I've gone on about this plenty of times, especially since that Talim recreation contest. But Talim's great.
As I've said over 9000 times before. I'm more disappointed that her story potential was so heavily wasted for characters that did nothing as replacement. I mean Viola too had a lot of potential influence over "fate" and "destiny" forseeing but did none of that and barely even spoke.

I think Sophitia, Cassandra, Taki, Xianghua (however thats spelled) and Setsuka will be back in SC6.

Remember when they tried to replace Kazuya with Jin in Tekken 3?
Well, for those who don't: Kazuya came back in Tekken 4.

I can not say the same thing about the characters that was promptly removed though.

I remember that happening and soon after Tekken 4, all the veterans started to come back (i.e. Bruce, Ganryu, Lee, Anna, etc.). If Soul Calibur follows Tekken's ideas (and they will) expect to see Sophitia come back then Cassandra, Xianghua, Taki and Setsuka and before you know it...A whole Soul Calibur roster of all our favorites from previous games are back for one whole game...And it better be canon as to where they've been all this time (especially since Cassandra's been in Astral Chaos, Sophitia being Elysium and all that stuff).

as much as i miss all the veterans from previous games, i actually DON'T want to see them in the next game. i'd rather have the series move forward and add new characters and styles than bring back old ones, especially ones that have been replaced.
really the only reason is because i don't want the soul series to go down the same path tekken did. when i booted up tekken 6 for the first time i was overwhelmed by the character selection screen. thats not necessarily a bad thing, but because the roster was so big, i never really became attached to a particular character. no one seemed to be characterized at all and because of the sheer number of styles, none of them were able to stand out. plus, many of the returning vets who hadn't been in many recent iterations (baek, ganryu, armor king, rodger etc.) and were already replaced with a similar style (hwoarang, kuma, king, steve etc.) made the roster feel even more watered down. throw in the fact that lots of characters already fight fundamentally the same way, (i.e. jin, kazuya, heihachi, or eddy and christie) made me feel like the characters were already shadows of thier already watered down remains. now that's not to say it was a bad game, because i liked tekken 6. it just didn't have the same impact on me as other fighters did.
so i'm worried that if we bring back all the vets, we might end up getting a clusterfuck of characters who might have differences here and there in their styles, but the overwhelming number of similar characters might make the game feel...well, underwhelming.
think about it. scv has 3 sword and shield characters. sure none of them are sophitia or cassandra, but do we really need two more s&s characters? plus, they've already run their course with the story. i'd like it if project soul just gave us some closure on what happened to them, then close the fucking book. it's a new game, and we all gotta move on.
i dunno. maybe some people like giant rosters, but if i dont connect with my character, i won't like the game. but that's just me personally.

TL:DR: tekken 6 brought back all the old characters. lots of styles felt similar and rehashed. overwhelmed and couldn't connect with a fighting style. ended up not liking tekken 6 as much as other fighters, and i'm afraid if sc6 brings back all the vets, the same thing will happen.

I can see how characters being cut annoys people but how does having those characters back annoy people? I mean they are not forcing you to use those extras they are there for variety. Also just give me Taki back and I might ignore Sieg's air blade for a while...

you know, after reading my last post, i dont think it makes a whole lot of sense lol. i'm kinda drunk right now.
i think a better way for me to say i'd prefer not to have the vets back is that i've already grieved for their removal. i've already moved on from that point. hmmm its kinda difficult for me to explain.
its kinda like that episode of south park where stan becomes a cynical asshole. you know how his parents get divorced, he has a falling out with kyle and moves to a new house? then at the end he has an epiphany and comes to accept and embrace all the new change that has suddenly come up in his life? bringing back the sc vets, to me, is like the part at the end when right after stan's epiphany, his dad shows up and is all like "hey stan i'm getting back together with mom and everything's going back to normal." it's just a big slap in the face to him, and i think seeing all the old characters in future sc games is like that on a relatively smaller scale.

I loled. I don't watch South Park hehe (American animated comedy = not my thing). Yea I see where you are coming especially since your South Park quote isn't too far off my reality (Stalker!), I can see the pro's and con's but I would quite like Taki or Sophie or both lol but that's just my personal preference.
