I wonder why we are STILL on the bubbles situation...

My personal opinion: If you're going to ban someone...BAN them. Don't half-ass the banning and take away his bubbles. That in itself is retarded.

But, my question is this. Why is it that the SC community is the community that takes the LONGEST on making desicions on shit like this? Shooter's can do it within a month's timeframe. the Smash community (grant it not all of them are intelligent...) can also seem to do it. But it took the SC3 Community almost 2 years to FINALLY BAN VC (except for NE...) And this is going to be the PURE example of History repeating itself.

WHY? because people have a reason to bitch on why he shouldn't be banned as well. Fuck the reasons on why he should be banned, it's a matter of why he should NOT be banned.

But moving on to other terms of the banishiment:

1. Since Calibur 2 have we seen X being banned because she had a bandwagon? NO
2. In Calibur 3, did we see Asta, X, Sisters, or Setsuka being banned because of bandwagon jumpers? NO
3. Since the Dawn of time who was ultimately the one who chose to ban something? The Tournament Organizers
4. So why is this discusstion STILL going on? shit...i don't know

it's sad to see a community coming out of the ashes upon the arrival of this game, and i can already tell that it's going to take maybe 4 more months of this STUPID FUCKING DISCUSSION to kill the community of this game.

/end rant

Now that i've eaten. This is simple.

Keep him, ban him. Personally most of us don't care. But once again asi reiterate...we have nationals coming up in a few months...and as a community, we still can't make a simple desicion on a character weather or not he's ban worthy. God forbid us to ban him now...and be wrong about banning him and un-ban the bastard.

To everyone who bitches about it, then pulls up the Singapore video...

DO SOME TESTING BEFORE YOU WHINE!

Every combo you see on that video where Algol kicks the enemy into the second bubble from [4A+B] IS AIR CONTROLLABLE.

The one on zas.. rock.. that sorta thing do work.. if you're 100% on axis.. etc etc.

And on top of that.. they're character specific. Cassy has some guaranteed combos that do some crazy imbalanced shit, but nobody cares because its CHARACTER SPECIFIC.

Algol has the same crap and people menstruate.. I don't get it...

And as for the people who whine about using the bubbles to make attacks safe....

If he's using a slow bubble to hit after an attack to make it safe.. that means you know when he's going to attack. How , for the love of fuck , does knowing exactly when a player is about to attack make that guy imbalanced, whether the move itself ends up being safe or not.

There's no possible way for him to set you up for a perfect mid bubble + low attack bubble set up unless you fucked up. If its 4A+B, you stand in the middle, if its 6A+B, you walk to the side. If he does [4A+B], [6A+B] and you start panicking?, you fucked up for standing around while you let him get the 4 seconds to stand there and pollute the stage with bubbles. And even then theres STILL ways around it.

You guys are just failing at the shit because its not something you ever had to do in soul calibur. Guile was never banned in SF2. He could do a slow sonic boom and use an attack in front of it and GASP!!!!!! MAKE THE ATTACK SAFE!!!! BROKEN!!!!!!!.. HE EVEN WALKED FASTER THAN RYU OMG OMG OMG OMG OMG!!!!!!

If you're having problems with bubbles.. get in the guys face. End of story.

This is one of the most retarded arguments I've ever seen.

Algol is a High tier indeed, but it doesnt mean he isnt beatable, take a look at games like MortalKombatArmageddon, way unbalanced, and to finish it off, they have characters who are way different than the entire roster like its boss section and created fighters, special's dont hurt them and other ridiculous things, as for soul calibur, there shouldnt be a reason to ban him, the community has to stop complaining and start finding strategy's to fight against him...

:BONE

Doesnt matter anymore. He's banned at SB3 and Jaxel's next monthly. Other tourney organizers are sure to follow. Someone lock this thread already lol

You parry the bubbles and they fly back at him, limiting HIS space, how is this not penetrating it? AND once you manage to get in, he suffers in close. Get a lead, and the clock works against him. I'm not seeing how this is some ultimate defense.

I haven't fought an Algol yet where I felt that I had no way to get past his defensive bubble turtling. And I'm willing to bet I play against tougher competition than most of the people in this thread that are calling for a ban.

Agreed and to be honest I think a very skilled Ivy player has a better defense at there disposal that Algol does.

AHHHHH i can't handle this much hate against bubbles and half nekkid ladies!*testicals explode*

SB3? really? People have been talking about how it's too soon to ban on short notice and how it will show if algol is broken or not etc. Is this new info or are you making this up for your own purposes?

Oh God, Zalriel i think you just started a "Should Ivy be banned?" war.

If I see you trying to do some unblockables with Ivy in a major tournament I'll make sure I don't avoid them just so I can JI them. Just so you know there are people that can do it every time. No comparison to Algol, and even if he isn't banned in this round he surely will be next time around.

Wow. Mass hysteria in action.

Personally, I'm just a scrub...but all I noticed from the videos in this thread is.

a) You shouldn't stand in corners.

and

b) The Polish stereotype is well earned.

Normally when I don't get something on a message board like this, someone comes along to break shit down to the point where I can at least get an inkling of the mechanics involved...but so far I just don't get it. Mid tier to banned from a situational infinite (that only one person has tested - and they said it was crap) and the fact you all figured out you can put more than one set of bubbles on the screen. Shit, just a few weeks ago I was hearing crying about how unfair the patch nerfs on him were. This is insane.

I see people saying things like that I jumped the gun with banning Algol... Let me just say... I did not ban Algol!
Also, Algol was banned at Season's Beatings 3, before I banned him at my next tournament.

It was the general concensus of the Nationals Committee to ban Algol; it just hasn't been officially announced yet (discussion is still going, but right now its a unanimous decision to ban). The Nationals Committee has a responsibility to the community; they need to do what they believe is in the best interest of the community. It may not be the right decision, and it may not even be a liked decision, but a decision has to be made. The majority of the Nationals Committee decided TOGETHER that Algol needs to be removed from the tournament scene. It was felt that his presence in the game was detrimental to the community as a whole.

Let me also add that Algol was NOT banned because he was "top tier"; personally, I could care less if he was top tier, mid tier or low tier. The ban was mainly because there are aspects to his game that contradict the core Soulcalibur engine design. Frankly, I believe he needs to go because of the bubbles; even if he's low tier, the bubbles just cause too many problems. Bubbles make unsafe moves safe, create unGI-able situations, interrupt legitimate combos, have rare chances for infinites, and have high chances for camera issues. He has already been banned in France and Japan.

Banning Algol was NOT an easy decision, we have been discussion it for TWO MONTHS now, and the decision has not always been unanimous. Several people who have been whole heartedly against banning Algol have eventually changed their minds as they got first hand witness to the problems Algol has. I myself haven't had first hand witness to any of it, but I've seen videos, and I am aware of what sorts of problems there could be. Also remember that the rules for Nationals are subject to change, but we've been holding onto a "wait and see" policy for Algol for a while and now its time to make a decision.
