Dead or Alive 5 Ultimate

If you don't know your characters strings you will not be able to mix-up because you wouldn't know if the string has more than one ending.
In Lei-Fang's case, many of her strings had one ending, leading to opponents immediately knowing what attack was coming next. The best us Lei-Fang players could do was not complete them and just head to another attack, or parry and stun the opponent like crazy.

At least from what I've seen on DOA5, it is different. Most Lei-Fang players have been working their way around them, and it is turning out quite positive for her and her players.

Compare that to Kasumi, who can pretty much do anything if you know about her strings.

Well I wouldn't know because I never once played with Lei Fang. I just know nearly every other characters has a bunch of string variations.

I also think strings can be good. With Kasumi I can stop, delay, mixup, throw at all time between a few punches. It's not like I have to finish them, but the fact that they're there creates hesitation.

My favorite trick is doing predictable strings so they try to hold, and then use my strongest throw for like 1/3 damage.
Pretty good if you ask me, and it's all thanks to the strings.

I like this trick too though it's a direct component of the triangle system. Most strings don't do that much damage due to scaling compared to a few strikes + Hi Counter Throw especially if you can nail a low hi-counter grab. When the opponent catches on, they start to get on edge and start mashing on predictable PPP's, etc. instead. Now the fun begins with "Will I finish the string? Will I not finish the string?" game begins!

Just got back from what would have been my first DoA5 tourney. Not enough people entered and they cancelled it. I'll only play the game casually (as in not study or 'force' myself to get better) but it was pretty sad hearing how many people don't even want to give the game a chance because it's DoA. You can cater to the competitive community but that doesn't mean they'll appreciate it.

The game isn't really balanced well enough to be competitive LP, seriously... its like fight night round 3, 1hit KO's and crap.

Well... The current competitive, tournament community is... saturated with their own games. Right? You really can't pull them away from what they're already playing.

You need casuals and new players to come to tournaments... but I mean, there's no support structure. Forums like these aren't given shoutouts in the game. Frame data is buried in a menu and isn't explained or mentioned. There isn't even a fully comprehensive tutorial to get players into a competitive mindset much less get them into the real world.

There is Ranked online though. you can't see the face I'm making since it's the internet. it's a disgusted one

I have to wonder if any game out there gives hints about the offline scene. I lived in Vegas for 4 years and I didn't even know EVO existed. That isn't right.

One because you were probably a shut in and didn't look at the many conventions, thinking it was only for tourists. And story mode is a tutorial... AND the option screen literally shows you WHAT ATTACKS ENEMIES ARE DOING WHILE THEY DO THEM and the frame data and everything... its actually a lot better than SCV...

Jeez if you were 10 and in vegas it must have been hell, your mom... shes a show girl or a hooker huh? No offense, I bang those kinds of women so...

He was being sarcastic, saying DoA does all of those things...

that part was what got to me...

Back to reading Beezlebub, chapter 88, I don't get much reading done at work, customers and all at this job... kinda miss my old job, Had a really hot regular who used to flirt with me... super hot... ... literally a perfect girl in looks... any man would love her... unless he likes ugly women...

It was nice meeting you and Hawkeye, LP. Too bad the DoA5 tournament was cancelled, still was fun to get some offline games in with you, Hawkeye, and who ever that guy was in the Brewers hat.

Which guy were you? I didn't catch names. I thought I heard someone say "Dr. Tom" but I wasn't sure.

Nevermind, I know who now. I probably talked to you more than the other guys, except for the one guy with the hat but I never did catch your name. Probably because you and Hawkeye were talking so much. =p
