Mitsurugi General Discussion and Q&A

I also cannot get used to moving backwards. I never used to do this i'd always just parry or block or sidestep. Now characters seem so slow they can actually avoid my attacks by merely moving back. Dumb

If you are still playing this game, you must care for it. Learn the new systems, they're not all that bad or gamebreaking.

Brave Edges usually have some weakness if being abused, and most Critical Edges are unsafe on block.

Backstepping and spacing has always been a crucial part of the game.

Mitsurugi is still very powerful, as Mateo, Belial, RTD, Hyun-mu, et al. have demonstrated.

If you really do hate SCV, you should try taking it up with Daishi Odashima, game director, or you should just keep playing SCIV.

Drew I'm gonna make this clear. Stop posting bullshit/double posting/quoting yourself. In any SA, good players at are your disposition to answer your questions, try to solve your problems, help you improve with your character, etc.

If you don't have anything to say except complaining about the game/Mitsurugi(lol), I'm gonna invite you to leave.

Maybe that's because you aren't spacing properly and that it isn't lagging as hard as SCIV.

I have been wondering, if 2 characters pull off the same move at the exact time (tool assisted?), who would get hit 1st? I thought I have done 4B mirroring at the exact time, at least looks like that to me, but we didn't trade.

Trades can also occur. It doesn't have to be tool assisted either, just have one player do a 0 on block/hit move and have both players buffer the move.
I've never had Mitsu 4Bs clash but I have had Raph 44Bs clash which resulted in a double KO. I saved the replay.

Is it possible to duck a throw and punish with 236B? I've been trying but I wanna know if it's possible or I'm just being slow.

If you watch some of RTD's matches you'll see him duck throws and 236B BE punish. It's something I really need to start doing.

I've gotten into the bad habit of always punishing with FC 1B on crouch, even when I know there won't be a counter hit, which either results in bad damage or me accidentally doing the second hit, which isn't exactly safe >.> Learning when to do FC 1B and when to 236B is an important skill. It also applies to lots of other characters, since many characters can 236B punish out of crouch, such as the Pyrrhas.

Okay i'm trying to not hate this game and give it a chance. Does mitsu have any move that can parry like Disembowel or False Purification like in SC4. Seems like every character has one except Mitsu.

I find myself playing a much more patient, defensive-poke game as well. There aren't as many safe tools to guarantee good damage, but we have a lot of options for mixups. I'm still not sure how I feel about it in general yet, but I love Mitsu so I'll stick with it for now.

For me, I find the Mitsu key is controlling the run via 22_88A, 4A (with 6 to MST for variation), 66A, and 6A/2A up close so that people get afraid to step. Then you can start using high-low pokes to mix up and get the bigger-damage B launchers and combos off of those.

Meter use for stuff like 2K BE B or 236 BE B is key. Both have the ability to ground people so you get an advantageous position for mind game. His wall game can be pretty brutal as well, although situational and really requires meter for the best results. You can get over 50% damage easily if you have meter off a wall stun. Not sure if anyone has posted any of the combos from the guide up here but there are some good ones in there, if not I can do so.

Do you like the fact that you have to play more conservative with him now? How hard was it for you to transition to a completely different style of play?

You don't have to play more conservative. I find Mitsu can be played a lot more aggressive with most of his best moves leaving you at very small disadvantage. Moves like 6b8, 1b, 4a, 66a+b, 22a, 236(B) and 6a all leave you at -4 or less on block so it's easy to continue his offense. Even some of his moves that can be punished can be made very hard too. 3b can be made safe w/ BE, 33b is hard to punish w/ the follow up to deter punishment etc and don't forget about 4b. 4b can punish anybody trying to interrupt your continued attack after any of those moves are blocked. Mitsu is anything but conservative!

Way to resurrect a post from months ago.

I quit playing the game actually, it didn't hold my interest for more than a few months, so take anything I said here with a grain of salt.
