If there was a Soul Calibur VI, prequel/sequel/reboot/retcon?

Pyrrha is a more crybaby version of Sophitia while Patroklos is a male Cassandra with more arrogance personality wise. I think you're calling them lesser versions of Sophitia and Cassandra because you prefer Cassy and Sophie to be with them? Or you still haven't let them go? Or is it their personality shouldn't be the same as their predecessors like Natsu and Xiba is to Kilik and Taki?

I think I'm hitting the nail here?

If not, the reasoning you're putting is rather weak and/or I'm interpreting your English wrong. This doesn't make me sound like an extremist though. Because if I were, I wouldn't be making a fuss over a silly personality issue much like you. That's not to say you shouldn't if you dislike how the characters are, but imho I just treat it as "it is what it is" majority of the time. If I did hated a character, I would vent it out.

Like for instance Astaroth. I hate him because he's a bully. However common sense is that's the way he is. Get my point?

If thats the argument then there is no reason to completely remove Cassandra if neither child is intended to replace her specific character if Patroklos is so much further seperated off her.

Now I just think you want Cassy back in the game no matter what? Or at least clarification that she'll be back? Or have her SCIV CAS pieces of her 1p to come back?

In general, what is it you want?

Did you forget that there are many more important factors to do something in the design of a fighting game than include/exclude characters for story reasons? I can think of a ton of reasons they would remove her, but here are two.

1) Having that many S+S characters is perhaps too many. The Alexandras are already an anomaly in this game; given that they removed all other characters which were considered* clones from the roster.

2) The roster size was already set, and in choosing between new characters and old, they opted not to include her.

Just remember: They make the decisions for what they want before, and justify it through the story later. Try and think with that thought process

*They weren't clones, but the average joe couldn't tell the difference, so they had to make a marketing decision. Consequently, the idea that Daishi "picked favorites" is ridiculous. He was the person who created Setsuka in SC3; and she is nowhere to be found. He also loves Zas, but... well there you go.

Yes I get your point and I'm sorry for calling you a extremist, but is hard to me make a point when I'm in the middle and trying to make myself clear, I will try to be less harsh.
About the personality fuss I'm doing anything but a fuss, I just find fun to discuss this aspects sometimes.
I won't lie Sophitia and Cassandra over Pyrrha and Patroklos anytime, even with this my whole point is linked with the fact that they bad acceptance comes from where they come from.

I'm sure if PS had the time they would do a prequel, sequel, and a reboot. It would give a chance to add a deeper story and/or make some events from the previous Soul Caliburs more comprehensible.

Why are you apologizing? You did get out what you're trying to say right? That's all I care about. Anyways, I still think your nostalgia goggles are on too tight with weak reasoning.

As for your question of newcomers vs veterans, the veterans have deeper backgrounds because they were around longer. It's only natural that people don't like changes. I say give the newcomers time to develop, and they'll be as good if not better than the older characters. Of course, as it stands right now, the veterans have more reasons to be liked. Nostalgia is definitely a important factor when considering this, people need to learn to adapt and shouldn't get emotional at the loss of a fictional character. With that said, I too miss some of the veterans, especially the ones without reason to removal (Zasalamel, Talim), but I learned to love sc5 for what it is.
You have any idea how many times I've said this, only for it to be ignored?

I agree, I like replacement characters when done right like Natsu, Yunseong, Leixia, and Maxi. I also like the originals too. I wish that both newcomer characters & veteran characters to both viable instead of new character being superior without any thought given to the veteran characters.

Consequently, the idea that Daishi "picked favorites" is ridiculous. He was the person who created Setsuka in SC3; and she is nowhere to be found.

The story mode was just their to make Patroklos super cool and "perfect" way to troll Setsuka fans.

I've lost my sympathy for Setsuka fans. They whine more than Talim fans these days.
I admire Setsuka's design for what it was: an onna bugeisha (female samurai) with geisha/oiran influence. Story-wise, she wasn't going anywhere, and when PS took the direction they did, I completely understood it.

Gameplay-wise, her style is already in the game, so I wasn't caring about her being removed. Alpha Patroklos is actually much better than Setsuka on the important parts of the moveset. The just frame attacks are much easier to execute than they were with Setsuka. The addition of Quick Step makes it even better.

Even though a new geisha/oiran influenced female appearing with a new weapon would make me even more content than I already am, but that's only my Asian fetishism talking right now.

But as far as this topic, I'm still on the sequel side. I'm a progression-type of person.

I'm not whining. I'm just stating facts.

I said what I had to say months ago. I'm not trying to start something.

(>P_P) Holy wind... I've just read through four pages of -----
For you Taki and Sophitia fans, quit whining. At least their weapons are still in the game. Zasalamel, Talim and Yun-Suck Yun-Seong and Rock lost theirs. WE DIDN'T EVEN GET A SUCCESSOR. So I had to move on to Zwei and hope for her return.
And you know what, Taki and Sophi aren't the only important ones in the series. Kilik and Xianghua for ex, defeated SE before as well. Zasalamel is the only one left from the Ancient Tribe that guarded the spiritual sword! To go on and on about how important those two is is just ignorance.
Why are ppl nitpicking at the dialogue?! Why don't you all whine instead about all the Tekken junk they've put into the game instead?

Story mode is atrocious because 3/4 of it is MISSING. Because of that, there's no character development for anyone else other than the Greeks. Stop hating on the Asian group. They got no backstory! PITY THEM!
*SCIV story mode was a giant joke, don't even bring it up. The only cannon thing that resulted from that was the battle between Nightmare and Siegfried and that lame sidebattle between Mitsu and Algol.

Pyrrha and Patty Cakes is alright as successors. Have you no pity for the poor girl? Try living with Tira for one day, see how you like it. Patroklos is just a cocky idiot who lets hate blind himself to others suffering but we can see that he changes later on. Abruptly since the story skipped over so much.

And the next person I see that says Zwei has no personality and is just a generic boring guy.... I'll shove the game into your face. Go back into that gay story mode and watch the part where he lectures Patroklos. Zwei knows how it feels to be alone and discriminated against. He was against Pat rejection of his sister and asks him 'What would your mother have done?'. Zwei is a honorable man who sees the world through very clear eyes, knowing how it hurts to be shun and yet he looks on the bright side of things. He's also got a sense of humor with his sarcasm that I particularly like.

Let's just move on and get the stupid story DLC and pray the heavens, maybe DLC chars. I don't have any wish for a rebot even if Talim is in cuz there's no mistakes that needs to be fixed. Just THINGS like arcade mode endings, missing story and museum should be added for an expansion.

*Omg, this thread makes me so angry! And Idle, I mean SuckingMaw! We Talim fans have not whine in ages! (>T^T)

I totally understand. Since I don't really like A. Pat that much, I use Leixia because ironically I played X in SCII before she became OP. That's why I used Setsuka. I would hope that she would come back.

As opposed to what other opposition?

Because it was bad.

Have done. Though some users will argue that any content is *good* content regardless.

I never saw any of this in the storymode.

A few things that I really hate about SCV.

1) Those stupid Random Characters. Edgemaster was enough to begin with, and then we get another two of them + a friking Random square? Who the hell thought this was a good idea? Just look if they only made Edgemaster you'd have room for Zasalamel + Talim + Bogoo (Rock's son, who even had Concept art like he was going to be a char, then cut).

2) They have enough DLC costumes to last you a lifetime but they couldn't add some DLC Chars? Seriously I would fork over some heavy cash to see some new Char styles.

3) Characters were highly imbalanced, some characters are super OP (cough viola, cough nightmare, cough a pat) and some characters like Ezio and Damp can barely even get in a single mixup (Unless your really good like Oofmatic).

4) The 17 year skip is complete bull. Taki is 46 but needs a replacement, Mitsurugi also 46 but can still fight? Siegfried is 40, and can still swing a sword the size of a couch around like butter? Voldo is 67 years old.....67...he's good to go, why isn't Taki?

5) Agol, Viola, and Devil Jin don't belong here. Agol died something like 21 times....how the hell did he get here? Viola has combos so long she should be considered for Ultimate Marvel vs Capcom 4, and Devil Jin just feels really out of place without any weapons in his hands.

6) Just Guard should simply be removed. Soul Calibur has a magical guarding system already, It's called a Guard Impact. Every Character should be given at least 1 Auto GI, it's the perfect Risk/Reward Mechanic.

7) Finally, you do not know how sad I was, when I popped in my SCV disk for the first time, and found out that there was no team battle. Team battle rocks! How could they not include it!!!

From 16:56- 18:29. You're welcome.
Same typical thing Talim/Seung Mina would say. Nothing about that was actually a personal reflection as you claim. Nice try. However, do I think Zwei is boring or generic? No.

Of all the things they try to take from reality that was what they went with? rediculous I know. Voldo is still in the game and Algol is the oldest character in the series. I think that was just a cover-up because they were rushed and needed some excuse. Before they said that they were planning to put Taki in the game but Namco cut their time for Tekken sales.

No. People wanted Setsuka and publically asked them for her but they were near the end of their time frame and threw in Alpha to appease the fans of her moveset style. Alpha was a last second creation.
