Yeah basically what Kvasir said, press G early gives LI on the cancel, press G late in the animation gives RO.
The cancel to LI gives free stuff unlike the regular LI
 
i find it works best for me depending on how long you hold down G to cancel. You can hold down G through the whole animation and still get RO out of it.

My favorite set up for LI Bg stuff is after 4Bg on wake up. BL KK afterwards is really hard to read especially if you are trainiing your opp with other stuff. And BL KK rings out to maxis left.

Imo.... BD is hard to place tier for anyone.... everything will be theoretical... the reason I say this is because.... there are a SLIGHT lag in BD.... as Maxi... you probably won't suffer from this.. hwoever a character like Setsuka who i think is confirmed top tier (to me she's top tier before but now she's even stronger....) this lag REALLY messes her jf BIG time... despite the fact that her jf is much easier to do in BD... however in vs... it becomes harder... so in the end... i just feel like BD is a bad platform for tier discussion... everything will be TOOO theoretical.

If you really wanna know my opinion... right now... i'm having a hard time understanding why maxi is low tier in SC4 ... and in BD he's even better than SC4.... so this really confuses me.

here's the list what Maxi got:
+Decent pokes, (in general good range for speed, like 2B, 33K, 2A, 1A)
+Great lows (nearly every low got it's use... some of them are insanely safe for what it can do)
+ Safe strong mids... (mostly from stance but stuff like 236K is good too, 66B+K)
+ Good pressure game both in hit and block stun.....

He fails in:
- Dealing damage... if you wanna deal damage you gotta take certain risks.. either going into a stance that can make you vulnerable during stance transition... or doing a move that is relatively unsafe.
- A decent block punisher...... the best one comes when you hit -18... for 6A+B but even then.. its really not that much damage and the pressure game afterwards you need to take a real risk... or you lose the pressure game completely.
- In order to maintain pressure when your health is lower than your opponent.... you pretty much have to put yourself at constant risk.... constantly throwing frame advantage highs RO A, LO K, LO BK... or you're doing 'slow mids', or unsafe lows.... sure there are frame traps to some of these things but at the same time you need to mix stuff up to confuse your opponent by while you're mixing it up the fact you're doing a mixup is putting yourself at risk......

Personally... I'm enjoying Maxi so much now it's as if I just started playing SC4 again for the first time. I think the main problem with most Maxi players are...... (including myself at the moment) .... despite having all this great tools, safe tools, etc... the feeling of landing something or 'tricking' your opponent into something feels great... but to 'trick' your opponent or do something 'fancy' you put yourself at a lot of risks.

Oh, I didn't know the game actually had lag. That sucks. Still I don't take PSP games seriously. This needs to be ported to consoles.

I agree with several things you said, except with the great lows part. What great lows?

1A, 11A and FC 1A sure are kinda safe (1A is safe), but they are slow.

2K is OK, but weak and slow. The canned 2KK_B makes it good. Maybe 2KB got better in BD, but I don't know.

3A+K is slow, but tech crouches.

RC K is slow, but it's tricky.

22K is crap.

WL A is excellent, except that you need to be in a stance, so you need to take a risk to take another risk.

BL B is his best low, I think. I don't know how unsafe it is in BD, but it's not that hard to enter BL, still you need to risk something.

As for decent block punishers, with buffed AA and BB, maybe that won't be SO bad. Still I agree with you that 6A+B does little damage and doesn't grant too much opportunities.

236K and 66B+K are not safe (not in SC4, are they now safe in BD?). You can gamble with 236K to make it safe, and use 66B+K from far, but they are not safe.

Is RO B completely safe? How is WL K?

Maxi have an excellent game of low in SC4.

2KB is a good option, if it's block you still have solution, 2kk is safe against a lot of characters

22K is not crap and is often safe, due to the follow up, not his best low however

BL KK, one of the best low in the game

1a is really excellent, range, safeness, priority (+7!), catch step, if it was quicker, it will be completely broken

2B+K: good option select in the wake up, safeness come from the follow up

FC3A: often safe due to the foolow ups mind game, on hit give a frame trap to RO B, got range and good TC property

11A: excellent range, catch 8Way run in spacing situation but i'll still prefer 1A
 
Great lows? really? I find them to be generally pretty horrible, which is why I throw so much. His best low is probably FC 3A, but I wouldn't call that move great.
 
i like 11A, i use them all but veyr very sparingly, and they're never blocked when i do them. And by sparingly i mean once every 3 matches or so, varying the lows. 11A is usable at tip, good damage range and antistep. Has good TC as well.

I like 236A :) very applicable in TJ situations.
I hate FC 3A personally...damage so weak.

Also, 236A is badly punishable on block as well as hit unless you get that weird hit at the end that kinda trips the opponent up, but that trip seems to have some random whiffing issues against some characters.
 
so im liking maxis RO game

he can RO from every side

4K ROs left

6K ROs right

B+KB : B : BA BT B+K or WL B+KBBA BTB+K RO back

and he has a ton of options that RO forward
 
B+K B:B:B:A does not connect with BT B+K unless the last hit is CH (stun combo).

But yeah, maxi has a decent ringout game for every direction except behind him.
 
XDD actually Maxi do has BT ringout game, BT 2K! (very short RO ,gotta do it in blank range) it would be funny to see if you RO by that.

236A is slow true but not many of us can see it , just like NM's 11B slow as hell but works.
And it slide RO to your left, not a bad move at all ,I am using it once in a while.

it's not the damage isn't great, the damage is piss poor. It's like what...7 dmg or 10 or something like that i tihnk. That's not the only thing, i have to iFC to get some speed into it thus losing frames. I don't consider being in RO a good mixup afterward either.

I wouldn't mind using 9K of course considering the reward and it's safety, but ATTACKS too late :/ When i use 236A it's hardly ever blocked though, i use it very sparingly unless i'm stopping a telegraphed low. It is hardly punishable on hit, maybe by a few characters it's barely -14?! can't remember. They're usually out of range it seems. That's been my experience. Also, 9K and 236A TJ around the same time, very negligeble difference imo. Good move? naaah, but i like it. 40 dmg is acceptable for me, Sophie gets less if she does 236B block punish. I also like it's application in ground games, gives good adv on ground hit and thwarts siderolls.
 
FC 3AAA actually does more like 20 damage, so its not THAT bad. And i like the RO mix-ups afterwards. I still think RO is Maxi's best stance. With the distance created by FC3AAA, you can often catch people with PSL2 into RC afterwards.

If the trip doesn't happen, it is horribly unsafe on hit (like i can 6A+B or B+K you). I thought it was -12 when the last hit connects. But, yeah, it depends on the range, character, and side if the last hit connects. Way too iffy, easy to block, and punishable - I think 236A is garbage.

i thought the JF leaves them in range for BT B+K

Yeah, no reason to use 8B, but 9K is really worth using. You just have to throw it out in advance.

Maxi is the one in a mix-up after 236A hits, and you can't GI anything faster than Sieg's 3B with WL after 236A trips the opponent.
 
ah i found out why the B+K string left them close

its because in the middle some hits whiffed randomly..........

disappointing..............
