I knew this was where you were going from your first post on the subject. But the thing is your community really isn't big enough to be able to afford to fracture it. Wah just said that the xbox players are on a higher level, so you can't say "the best already play on ps3" or something. And even if the pros all follow you to one system and one patch that can no longer be attained, your player base is going to be invariably limited and you guys have been working on improving attendance and bringing in new players as it is.
You might not think much of my opinion since you're a great player and I'm a nobody, but you should be old enough by now to know you have to balance your ideals in the face of reality sometimes.
D3v brought it here, I guess he figures he's spreading the good word like Paul Revere or something. Sad thing is it would be better if he used his clout to help put a stop to it.
can't see the pic but ayane is DEFINITELY not the hottest DOA gal. she excels in no category more than any of the other girls. she's not cuter than Pai Chan (yeah i went there), hotter than Tina, Sexier than Christie, or more beautiful than Kasumi. Ayane is just. meh. a girl with purple hair and a snotty attitude. and an annoying fighting style with game mechanics on her side.
(i know her feet aren't even touching me when i get hit by one of her invisible reach kicks.)

Can someone give me some knowledge on how to deal with ryu's hoppy bunny backflip retreating BS and "Dust" teleport mixups? I ate a ton of that crap the other day and I didn't know what to do about it.

Hello again DoAers. I'm back with a few more questions, still deciding to get this game, looks pretty good from the videos I been watching. :) But anyway,
1. I'm planning on buying this from the PSN store, and I saw that there was an online pass, is that needed? And what's it for? I hope that I dont have to buy it to play online. :[
2. How does lag work? (Yeah no one likes lag but still, I wanna be safe) If it lags, does it just lag out like SC5 does? Or does it just keep going, but of course, lag? Aka, fighting under water. I hope that make sense. lol.
Anyway, that's the only two questions I had. If I have more I'll be returning. Thanks for the info guys. =D

it'd be best to buy a copy of the disc that way you don't have to pay for the online pass separately. i think even if you buy it used from gamestop they still give you an online pass code. they did for me. it'd just overall cheaper. other wise you only get like a 2 day trial to play it online. so yes, you do need the code to play online.
lag is like soul calibur 5 in terms of it being pretty smooth.
5 bars: it's like playing an offline match with someone next to you. no noticeable lag at all.
4 bars: still very playable. can still duck, sidestep, and counter things on reaction. maybe 1 or 2 frames of lag.
3 bars: this is the lowest i try to play. it's kinda playable. you can still do combos and stuff but is hard to do things like punish quickly or do timed specific commands.
I've never had any matches lag out during a fight in DOA5. also, if the host leave the lobby is not disbanded. the host is just transferred to another person. sometimes you may experience a sudden lag spike when someone is entering the room or when someone leaves while spectating the match, sometimes. so the underwater feeling is rarely felt unless you are facing a 1, 2, or sometimes 3 bars.
in DOA5 online you can spectate matches without having to actually worry about skipping your turn if you just want to watch. there's also a chat feature like SC5.
if you want to play with your friends but don't have all your characters and costumes unlocked then you can just enable Exhibition Mode which will let you play with every character and available in game costume but it won't save match data. like win/loss ratio.
you can save replays both from online and offline matches and even upload them to facebook or youtube.
She's not hiding behind him. he's just looking out for her. like any father would do his daughter. (or should) and trust me. he can and will beat you with his hands behind his back cause he's that badass.

Good Ryu players don't backflip into his Onigyn(sic) stance.
Most players who use the stance, tend to use the teleport attacks, of the three, two of them are linear and can be stepped. The other, the throw, can be ducked. Since you can pretty much see it coming, the idea is to step or duck. Usually the players will be pretty obvious when they do one or the other (and fail).
Other attacks from stance include a high elbow attack (ducking or stepping works), the low slide (stepping or guarding low), and the three hit strike. The three hit attack is mostly combo filler, but the hits track. Still they all hit mid and can be dealt with if you just block and hold the final hit (which can also be stepped).
Ryu's overall stance isn't bad, but it isn't good. Good Ryu players will make sure that the stance transitions are invisible before they mix them up. The really dangerous stuff is a three part throw and a special teleport hold that can lead to some nasty stuff. Otherwise, its fairly manageable - though annoying - to deal with.
Buying new and on disc is generally the way to go, I rarely buy digital copies. However, the online pass is usually included with the game purchase as a separate 100KB or so download. Anyways, feel free to add me once you get the game. Don't worry, my Ayane is very "friendly" =D.

Darn, wish that Ayane's daddy (well her biological or foster dad) were still around so that Mr. Chan and Ayane's pop could have an epic duel to the death. Hmm... Genra or Raidou, who should it be...?
