IDEA: Online Amateur Tournament

All right guys thats enough.

TiZ.....I see where you are going with this. And I do think its a good idea. For those that are confused, I would think its simular to having different weight classes in boxing. You arent gonna put up Mike Tyson against some skinny "Flamingo Joe" (5 points to griffyndor for whoever got that reference).

Gonna be a little tricky to divert that into a fighting game scenrio. I think a little tweeking of the rules (dont ask me, Im for sure not the one to ask advice on that) and it might be kinda fun.

I will try to participate...
A fight against fellow 8wayrun members should prove entertaining, especially if TiZ participates.
I'm assuming CAS are allowed?

I would like to go into it but my country won't allow it I believe, but I do think it might be a good idea.

If you can't win in tournaments, play the game and improve. There is no need to make a kiddy-table-let's-all-feel-good-about-ourselves tournament.
Amateur tournaments and amateur leagues exist in the real world, in real sports. Nobody ever told an amateur basketball player, "Oh, you're not good enough to shoot hoops with the NBA guys? Tough luck, go get better." He improves his skills in the leagues below the NBA. It's not like he doesn't improve just because he's ballin' with people that are roughly as good as him. There is a certain level of beating that you just can't learn from. As long as these players challenge each other, they will still get better.

If an extremely good player that has never gone to a tournament decides to enter, you have to let him in, because your rules that you enforce are specifically only aimed at tournament play.

By extension, I am not allowed to play in this because I placed 4th in an online tourney (Meaning I'm "too good" to play in this one), but someone who is far better than me, knows frame data, has all matchups covered, and dominates everywhere he goes, who has never entered a tournament, is allowed to play.
Yes, all of that is correct. Do you have any better ideas to prevent high level players from entering?

All right guys thats enough.

Now stop antagonizing me.

I'm assuming CAS are allowed?

One Second, I Have To Clear My Throat... Ahem... Cough Cough... There We Go.

To Begin, HahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahaHowYouDoinhahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha No.

I'm assuming CAS are allowed?
Of course not. Just because the tournament targets a different group of players doesn't mean the tournament standard rules will be changed. No CaS, no custom outfits, color edits okay, 3/5 sets.

Also, I'm not going to be in the tournament, I'm just organizing and running it.

I think this idea of an "amateur tournament" is very stupid. It could have taken off well but it did not. There are things that should have been put in the first page of this thread. Things like:

-Sign-up list showing who is going to participate
-What time/date this event would start
-What a "mid-level" player is. There was no clear and thorough explanation of it, so I ended up a bit confused. Also, the definition of a "mid-level" player seems to be more of an opinion than anything.
-Specific rules like, "CaS are NOT allowed". Something like that.

I shouldn't have to scroll through the pages to find the rules. I should find them on Page 1 of the thread.
--------------------------------------------
To be perfectly blunt, this idea seemed to be an idea that came out of the blue. It's so disorganized it's not even funny. I suggest that, if this tourney were to get going, you plan it ahead.

This is just my opinion on the matter.

No need to be rude, that was unnecessary, the reasons why the stuff you mentioned isnt on this thread, is because this is just a proposal, not an actual event that is happening

people will lie, and generally if you are a good player, you can play any character to a half decent standard, only on games like does that kinda idea work

Damn people will lie- lol true i didn't consider that. I tend to play the mimics these days online which gives me a colourful general feel for the rest of the roster. Whilst still achieving my Natsu fix.

I want a Mimic Tourney!

I think we should do a round robin tournament where, everyone has to use the same char per round, and characters are chosen by the tournament host via a randomiser

Okay, there's a whole lot of failure at reading comprehension going on here, and I think this idea is at the center of it.

How is this idea different from a scrub lobby where beating the host means you get kicked from the lobby? You want moderator approval of it? I see no other factor differentiating it from such scrub lobbies.

For the record, it's not that you're bad at the game that really makes people dislike you so much(not that that helps though), it's your sore loser attitude and selfishness. Even in this thread you're wanting to glorify yourself as someone doing some good and are still losing your temper every time someone dares to question you or any of your ideas. Anyone reading this thread that would've thought the idea might be worth trying would no doubt be put off be how the would-be TO is acting and question the legitimacy of it.

Try again when you're mature enough to handle not getting your way without throwing a tantrum and maybe people will give you another shot.

Well, you could go by rank online to determine whose up on top vs whose on the bottom.
Like have those with 80% percent chance of winning on their SCV record not allowed in the tourney but also not allow lower rating people with 15% winnings on rank. Just an idea. Of course, a record is not 100 percent accurate but it is a start I suppose. I'd be happy to help you Tiz.

I know that. Even if it just a proposal, the basic time, rules, etc. could also be included with the proposal. :p I didn't mean to offend.

But it could still be and that's that.

Why are you arguing with me.
How are they suppose to come up with a date, about something that isnt even certain yet, he was throwing the general idea out there for feedback. Basic rules, um there is a general set of rules used for all tournaments FT3, char lock for winner, random stage selection. Instead of acting like an ass hole, provide feedback to whether it would be a good idea, so he can go ahead and organise it.
