Dampierre Q&A / General Discussion

I agree with the guy who said namco should have brought back Zas instead of wasting their time with Damp.

Simple reason: Popularity. Just look around, there are tons of people, top players or not, who want Zas back.

Who plays Damp? A few people? How many people would miss him if he didn't return in a later game? I sure as hell wouldn't.

Make this happen namco. They should make a huge poll for the next game, and statistically see which characters are in high demand. I guarantee you more people would vote for Zas, or Talim, than Damp.

Relax friend it's ok....

Other than the competitive side of things, Damp is the only comedian and witty character and brings the element of laughter and humour which no other character possesses to that extent.

You think they wasted time on Damp? Nope, they invested very well in this guy (and dare I say made some income ala DLC), the characters that need replacing imo are the mimics, we only need one mimic and that's edgemaster (not that kilik wasteman and elysium. ).

Or here's another alternative, just increase the roster so everyone's happy with each unique style of fighters, no clones.

Even with the thought of removing Dampierre, here's a scenario I had in my head whilst typing:

Project Soul: Dampierre will not be in the next series...
D.I.S: Yayyy
Project Soul: .....so instead we brought in Gisele to fill his role *troll face*

Well I'll leave it at that, it was a nice read from the discussions...so take it easy guys (not just D.I.S)

I don't see why a "silly character" is considered garbage, like Azy said they did invest good deal into him, hell his outfit is beautiful designed. I did miss Talim and Zas because they had a unique style of their own. Damp may not be a tourny powerhouse character but that doesn't mean you should count him out, characters in this game or any fighting game, I believe, depends on the skill of the person using them.

"Tournament powerhouses" is pretty much dependant on who top players want to use. Dampierre is the least represented character at offline events (ignoring mimics and Devil Jin), and I can guess that him being the only DLC character is just one of the factors regarding his lack of representation. Sure he's undoubtedly viable (channeling the Leixia corollary here) but people need to actually start playing him and winning with him often enough for people to take notice. If the stars indeed align in that way, I suppose the bonus there would be winning character specialisation status as well, eg. Reptile with Aeon.

Lately when I use Damp whenever I go into PB most ppl are already blocking low for my grab and been eating my PB~B and face smacking them like crazy, even a few folks that usually know my gimmicks or have played me before, thought I would throw that out there xD

I noticed a lot of people blocking low straight away when i go into PB, which is why i do PB~B straight away instead of grabbing. And if they know you're going to do PB~B then Grab lol i just mix it between the both.

I seem to never use PB~A anymore, everyone is always ducking. Still trying to get the hang of some Damp wall combos, it seems to be instinct using 623B everytime I hit them to the wall

Best thing to do if you see them in PB if you're unsure of the mixup is jump away lol

Wall combos are fun to do.

Sorry I dont play Tekken^
I just realized I keep trying to study the MUs against Damp except the Damp vs Damp MU I should really get another Damp main to help me there x3

picked up damp today. trying out his doom combo 33b-623 kkkkkkkkkkkkkk-4b. I asked people how i do 623 kkkkkkkkkk jf consistently. All anyone said is mash. I feel like this is not most consistent way to do it. I remember playing oof damp like a year ago, and he was almost 100% with it. any tips ? Is there a better way than just mashing?

I think there are 2 ways of doing the JF kicks;

1. Mash K (This is not very consistent sometimes but it can be one of the easiest ways of doing it)

2. Timing the kicks correctly (There are only 8 Kicks so if you time them perfectly and get used to the rhythm you will get it more consistently, although this can be quite hard at first)

Both the techniques i believe do take practice so just keep practicing :).

Ok so mashing i always get to 7 hits. Like almost 100% of the time. So does anyone mash till sevens hits, then on eight press the jf? Seems like this way would be pretty effective.

Nice combo vid dude. The only issue I have with it are the combos that involve 11K (6B ~ 11K, 66A ~ 11K, 22_88B ~ 11K) because they are very impractical considering they are unsafe on hit, since by the time Damps goes into PB the opponent is already on their feet and can get a free hit in.

Yeah i figured that out a while ago but i believe 3K would be a better replacement for it, i just chose 11K because it did more damage and most people dont punish it, i would realistically only use 11K after 66A if i know BB wont hit. And thanks :)
