Not likely since Xiba used the staff
Pat and Pyrrha's use the same type of weapon, it's not like that stopped anyone.
Daishi was like "NO CLONEZ!"
Yet we have Pyrrha and Omega, it's not like same weapons can't have different enough fighting styles.
Also DBFighterZ also said that they won't have "different forms of the same character" in the roster, yet we got SSB Goku and SSB Vegeta.
Plans do change sometimes.
One concern I would have about so many Alexandras being in one game
This. SC's focus changed so much from being a story of two magical swords and all people that want something with them to story about Alexaner family that also happens to have some deal with SC and SE. And that's utterly terrible.
"Sory mode" was a mistake, it should've stayed like it was in SCIII with each character having their own (though often non-canon) journey.
Also, on a side note: Mimic styles are awful. Give them their own movesets plz.
Oh, how cool could that be if they used their "style switching" thing with mimics and made them a proper characters instead.
Elysium could use a mix of all previous and potential SC's ̶s̶l̶a̶v̶e̶s̶ wielders, while Inferno could do the same with SE - all kinda Necrid-style.
And Edge master could use his own weapon switching system while having different weapons at his disposal equipped all over his body, without mimicing any character's moves. This could've been so great if all mimics were unmimiced.

Not as big as others. She is not in LS, not in pachinko, her popularity is not as exceptional as of others in his list. She is too average at the moment and is in grey area.
Going by this why would you put Zas or Sets over Cass? She's definitely one of the more popular characters on the competitive side, arguably has a bigger part in the story line than either of those two, and once even a replacement for Sophie in the arcade days. How in the world could you say she's not as big as the others? ESPECIALLY Sets, who story wise pretty much has no place in it, and as a playable character she was one of the hardest to play with correctly so no one used her?

Nah, I bet they always planned to have Kilik be a mimic since it's written in the lore that he trained to be one and probably would've been in the story too if it were cut short. Let's not blame all the faults of SCV on rushed development time. So in other words, Kilik reclaiming his staff makes me very curious as to what they're going to do with the newcomers.
I actually read somewhere in an interview with a producer of the game (sorry I can't find it now) that Kilik only became a mimic because they ran out of time when they pushed the release up.

They have unique fighting styles, unlike one more S&S user that she is gonna be.
Also, this may be a laughable argument, but at least Zas is higher than her in that popularity pool.
Also, I already corrected myself on previous page, I guess I misjudged her importance, but I don't think that I failed that much. She never really was all that important since SCIII.

Story mode isn't a mistake. MK and Injustice show that it's a good feature, and I'd rather know what happens in the story then a get a vague idea of it. Let's just hope SCVI's story is better than SCV (which wouldn't be saying much).

As I said I can't find the interview (I've read anything Calibur related for the last 4 years now) but if I remember correctly, it's right around this time last year that it took place. I even remember discussing it in chat as I was upset that it was plainly stated that they rushed the game out when they didn't need to. Y'all can put a bit of the blame on Harada and TTT2 for that by the way.

Regardless of what it is, that doesn't change the fact that Hoshino giving Kilik his staff back is a sign that things are changing.

How a character getting back a weapon he was meant to have from the very beginning is a sign of anything? If SCV wasn't rushed he would've had it too, but you (and a lot of others) still wouldn't liked that game because of general direction it taken with the story and roster.
Once we get a Taki/Setsuka/Zasalamel/Talim/Sophie/you-get-what-I-mean announcement or something like that - it will be a proper sign.

We don't know that for sure, besides you know what kind of backlash SCV would've got if we had two staff styles in the game? I know I'd be pissed more than Kilik being a mimic. It's just so obvious that's the first sign, because Hoshino knows the mimic style was widely hated in SCV and him getting his staff back (likely replacing Xiba, who wasn't particularly well-liked) is a clear sign to me.

Too much "it obvious"-type statements about unnanounced yet game in one post. Also two staffs wouldn't be a problem if Xiba gotten proper monkey-like moveset, while Kilik having a more strict and classic style. They could've been even more different than Mi-Na and Kilik were.
But, again, too much baseless assumptions about something that never happened (proper SCV) and something that haven't happened yet (SCVI announcement).

It would've been complete bullshit for Kilik to retain his style. It already was when he returned as a mimic, but it'd be even more otherwise. Xiba replaced him, he shouldn't be have been in the game. Plain and simple. All the women replaced were cut, yet the one guy replaced still gets to be in? Why is Taki too old when she's the same age as Mitsurugi, who got to return? Shit like this is the fundamental problem with SCV's roster. They should've given Mitsurugi his own younger replacement (his profile mentioned him having a younger brother), and why not Maxi? He'd be fit for a replacement as well. I wouldn't have liked it, but at least it would've been fair.

Thanks for reminding me a major reason I hated SCV's roster so much. Anyways, let's move onto the future where the mistakes are corrected.

Why is Taki too old when she's the same age as Mitsurugi, who got to return?
Because she is a woman that doesn't have any "she is not aging because [X]" excuse. It's obvious, really. While Mitsurugi is a series berserk that is not really affected that much by becoming older.
and why not Maxi
He is not aging, so he doesn't "need" a replacement.
I know that
Then why are you openly ignoring it in every post?

Considering that every returning character but three didn't age, that excuse doesn't hold up.

@SomeRandomHuman Don't bother with Nyte. He won’t listen. It’s not worth your time and sanity tbh.
Shut the fuck up.

You act like Maxi *had* to be immortal, when he didn't. It'd be just as easy to give him Maxi Jr., and why couldn't Taki age when she had shard of Soul Edge and ninja magic anyways? It makes no sense.
