I hope CAS has better options than SCV but goes back to SCIII with them having their own unique styles you can choose from make them more unique.

mostly cuz I want Chronicles of the Sword back

This time, I think I'm not gonna preorder. I'll patiently wait until I'm sure about how much they're actually gonna dumb down gameplay. If the one-button input applies to anything more than REs und CEs, I'll really have to reconsider. SCV was such a disappointment for me and statements like "fighting using one button" really make me nervous.

How consumer-friendly (i.e. easy) do video games have to get these days, really?

Also, why are REs immune to throws? Less mindgame options. In that case, they'll have to speed up guard crush moves considerably, too, I guess.

I'm trying to listen to the sounds effects of the swords clashes and not sure but it feels like it's more similar to SC1 and SC2 than the last SC games. If so that would be great, SC3,4,5 had something a bit weird in their sound effect, i dunno how to describe it though.

That's actually exactly how i want Ivy to look in SC6, she looked good in SCV but her 3D model wasn't close enough to this Artwork, i want and hope it will be as closest as possible to this Artwork, that would be such a dream. Imo SC2 and 3 had the best representation of Ivy in her 3D model wise.

You guys never cease to puzzle me honestly. There's talk of difficult commands being made available at the press of a button and no one shows at least some concern? Meanwhile choosing to talk about CaS and guest characters? Don't you think gameplay comes first?
But that's not what the article implies at all. They're just referring to RE and supers.

So I've been discussing in chat a few things about this game. One of the main things is when would I like to see a release. I'm going to copy and paste my reasons here on why I would like to see the game come out around August or at earliest mid July for the sake of the competitive community and the overall lifespan of the game:
See you put the game out after Evo
it has a chance to grow more of a following, be featured in a bunch of other majors, we could set up some sort of ranking seeds for Evo
hell it could be featured in the much theorized Namco tour with Tekken DBZ and Calibur

You put it out in like say August you have about 2 or 3 majors it'll be in for sure like Summerjam, TFC, and NEC . after that you have Evo Japan if it's still in January next year, Winterbrawl, NCR, SCR, CEO, NWM, Texas Showdown, etc. and THEN you can have it on the big stage at Evo after a YEAR of play imagine the quality of that play. Imagine how many people have put eyes on the game as a featured game throughout the course of a year so it'll make them join the big tournament at Evo. How many people would that bring in? How many would commit to the series if they had a reason to play it for a year?
You put it out to be at Evo this coming year, it's gonna get it's numbers and then poof be gone
because as we all know with Evo we're always one and done
just let us plug away at it, let us get some face time on these major streams and let us find out how the game is played before you showcase it at Evo
August to me would be perfect

So yeah, as much as I want the game now and as painful as the wait will be (I've been through it 5 times now and it hurts worse every time) for the sake of the competitive community PLEASE don't let this game come out too early just to be squeezed into this coming Evo.

Also @Vergeben and @Hayate, if you're both going to make that video you mentioned earlier can I make a request? I'd LOVE to see them bring back vs. Team Battle mode and to introduce an online training mode. Having to go into a match with a friend from across the country just to try some things being discussed is tedious. Being able to invite a friend into practice mode where there are no life bars or time limits would REALLY help spread the knowledge and strategies throughout the community. Both modes can only be beneficial and I feel are really needed to expand the outreach to newer players. The vs. Battle will encourage people to play more characters which only helps them learn the game even more and the online practice mode will give people opportunities to show other people what they're talking about first hand and actually break down things in a comprehensive way without the worry of a clock expiring or life bars running out.

Am I the only one who wants them to reduce all the flashy effects? (Sorry if it is a reiteration I am a bit new here)

I mean there is no need for that and it is not good for the eyes to constantly see all that special effects on the screen. It is annoying. And it worries me. I don't want to have another experience like T7 which abuses of that kind of effects.

It is OK for a 2 minutes trailer, but that's enough. They just need to completely get rid of those unbearable effects it is a cancer in all new videogames and it is not realistic and not necessary in fighting games that use swords (not guns... sorry Cervantes).

I hope @Vergeben and @Hayate can share this particular thing with Namco because I am sure not the only one who preffers old style Soul Calibur I/II/III where the effects were almost inexistent instead of all that unrealistic "explosions" in SCIV and SCV, I just want to see one sword clashing with another one with some realistic particles instead of all that uggly exagerated effects.

They need to reduce them. I just don't want another Tekken 7 uggly effects and explosions when a collision is made.

Please, at least give the option to turn all those effects off!!! It is a must I mean I won't be able to stand playing during more than an hour when all those flashiness is happening on the screen. I constantly got headaches while playing SCIV and SCV.

But I never got a headache when playing SC I to III.
I am sure you know what I mean. I hope I am not the only one who desires NO more flashy effects. It is ok ONLY for the Specials. But not for the regular moves, please!! I don't want the "Push a Button for Awesome" philosophy that also happened in Dragon Age 2...

And I am being very serious here. This thing killed a great franchise too:

When I press a button I just want responsiveness, nothing else.

The "No More Flashy Effects" campaign has officially started.

I insist this is a big thing that can be corrected in time only before the game is released. If they take the wrong direction and abuse from the special effects it could kill the game for many. I mean the best would be to give us an option to activate or turn off just the special effects in order to avoid getting an unnecesary headache.

That's the main reason why we need to insist to make them clear that flashiness is not a good thing at all. Not if they abuse from it. Judging be the gameplay they have shown us it seems that every single movement produces an exagerated effect. That gets repetitive very fast and in the end it turns annoying.

Not necessary and completely avoidable. Considering they are at 70% I think now is the perfect moment to start pushing those effects back and reduce them anymuch as it is possible before it is too late.

The game will emphasize how you can enjoy the fun of sword fighting with a single button.
What else do you think this means?
Critical Edges are also being prepared. While their command inputs were difficult in Soulcalibur V, they can be activated with a single button in Soulcalibur VI.

The most significant evolution is the introduction of the “Reveresal Edge” system, which is an attack that integrates offense and defense to defend against almost all techniques with a single button, regardless of whether they are high, middle, or low.
The emphasis on that particular wording is probably being pushed by the marketing division. It should be obvious that the point is these new mechanics are not being designed as execution barriers.

Worrying, somewhat. Controllers only have so many buttons, and combination inputs (especially A+B) still need shortcuts.
I hope "a single button" means a direction and a single button...

I'm pretty sure it just means RE is A+B+K, then CE and SC are 4A+B+K and 6A+B+K or some other similar arrangement.

This mass hysteria after every fucking announcement needs to stop ffs. Let's just wait and see the gameplay footage as it comes.

ok so go read the rest of his rest of post for the analysis ect. ect.
My only visual criticism with the game at all is that I honestly do think they're going just a little bit TOO ham with the "shockwave and trail" effects. They're perfectly fine and logical for certain things/mechanic-related moves like Critical Edges and Reversal Edges. But I think they need to prioritize how they're using them and the amount they are using because it seems a little bit excessive and done for the sake of doing it I've noticed.

If you're getting headaches playing SCIV and V, I think the epilepsy warning applies.

In Soul Calibur IV there were times when I did not know if I was playing as Darth Vader/Yoda/The Apprentice or just a regular fighter which did not have use of the force neither used lightsabers. That must be a sign.

I still think that the swords are too flashy at times... even for Mitsurugi. And that's why I don't want that to happen again in SC VI. If I want to play a lightsaber I would get a Star Wars game... or Soul Calibur IV, but not SC VI please.

I exaggerated because I feel it is necessary to reduce the level / use of some special effects that do not make sense at all. And Namco/Project Soul must know this from the players who have invested a lot of time playing those games and have suffered because of things like that which can be avoided at time. Details which can make the game better when used correctly. A moderation of the special effects is the key.

Yeah less is more when it comes to that kind of thing. When the expectations of the player/viewer are grounded then something like the weapon's shine when doing a RE is the coolest thing ever. But when they expect a firewroks show every second then nothing becomes impressive.
