After an 8 year gap from SCV, we deserve a decent roster. Not some crap with 5 useless characters in the bottom row like SCV. They already have my money so they should treat us to at least 30 characters with them pulling from possibly SE,1,2,3 and 4 or even 5.
  • Cervantes SE
  • Hwang SE
  • Mitsurugi SE
  • Rock SE
  • Seong Mi-na SE
  • Siegfried SE
  • Sophitia SE
  • Taki SE
  • Voldo SE
  • Li Long SE
  • Astaroth SC1
  • Mimic SC1-5
  • Ivy SC1
  • Kilik SC1
  • Lizardman SC1
  • Maxi SC1
  • Nightmare SC1
  • Xianghua SC1
  • Yoshimitsu SC1
  • Raphael SC2
  • Cassandra SC2
  • Talim SC2
  • Yunseong SC2
  • Setsuka SC3
  • Tira SC3
  • Zasalamel SC3
  • Amy SC3AE
  • Hilde SC4
  • Dampierre SC4
  • Algol SC4
So this seems to be essentially every MAIN character from SE to SCIV. I didn't include Inferno, Olcadan or Charade because Edge Master or whoever is fine.

This seems to be 30 characters exact. Arthur really isn't worth it and I didn't count the guests or the SCV newbies plus Aeon.

This roster that I listed above with SCVI adding new characters wouldn't be too much to handle. It's actually quite astonishing how Soul Calibur has never really had more than 30 characters in their games until SCV.

Hell I would cry no tears for Algol being removed...his underwear needs to be changed anyways...

Since Patroklos is most likely cut, do you think we could get a new male shield and sword user? The one thing that I liked about him was that he provided a shield and sword style in CAS that wasn't girly, thus gave male custom characters a more masculine shield and sword style to use.

I know Pat isn't popular, but I'm not willing to completely rule him out until we see more info about SCVI. Who knows maybe he'll have a weepy moment with his young SC1 mom in some time paradox or something

But the game takes place 21 years before SCV, and I doubt any of the characters introduced in that game are returning here.

Yeah that was the one thing I appreciated about Pat lol.
But it just figured that he became the only viable Sword and Shield moveset for CAS characters to use. Neither Pyrrha nor Omega's movesets fit any of the CAS voices at all. At least back with Sophi and Cass, they both were usable for CAS characters lol.

As far as another male Sword and Shield user, I think it'd be cool to get some kind of knight with a longsword and a larger shield, like a kite or tower shield.

That would be pretty neat to see. I'd be more into that than more fantastical weapons like Viola's orb or ZWEI's wolf spectre thing.

Agreed. Algol set a really bad precedent IMO.

A tower shield would be cool but there was always an issue of the large shield obscuring the animations of the attacker, especially if you hold the shield on your side. It would be 1p /2p dependent so you could more easily hide the initial frames if you're facing one particular direction. Or, you could hold the shield upfront like Patroklos (except a lot larger shield).

Personally, I think a shield + flail morningstar combo would bring a unique moveset ala For Honor

Maybe Lucius can finally show up and stop being useless on the background.

You mean the most original movesets we had in the series in a long time?

Algol did not set a bad precedent at all. He is what a boss should be: imposing, cool-looking, powerful, original and over-the-top. What did we have before him? Inferno, the copycat? Abyss, the Zasalamel with one or two added moves? Night Terror, the one that people wouldn't even reach and it was still a more powerful Nightmare? Algol at least felt like something different for once. Also, I'm all for flail, morningstar or even a meteor hammer, but no shield, feels unnecessary.

Every other character you mentioned had a defined weapon. Even though Night Terror was an "Ogre" he at least had a defining zweihander. On the other hand, Algol is like Necrid in that he instantly generates weapons from his body. His most signature weapon is actually this throne, which isn't even that common.

but then how do you block ?

Algol has defined weapons, even the blades he spawns from his body are specific, in addition to Soul Calibur and Soul Edge, of course: two blades on the back, one blade and one blaster in each wrist/fist and one blade in each foot. Its not one bit like Necrid, he literally created every other weapon in SC2, Algol has weapons that are specifically his and that work specifically on him, hell, even Soul Calibur and Soul Edge don't work in a similar way to how they do with Siegfried and Nightmare.

In the same way every other character without a shield blocks.

Imo
The way Cassandra plays is much more shield oriented than sword. In fact, I think Cassandra plays insanely different from any other S&C, she is focused in rush downs and pressure rather than punishment, which is pretty much the bread and butter of Sophie and her children. One could argue that Pat focus on pressure, but definitely not as much as Cassandra. I also find her fighting style pretty neutral, some of the stuff is very brutal and not girly at all.
I hated Patroklos stance for CaS tbh.

Yeah that's why I main her, I love playing offensively and applying pressure. But she does have some very feminine moves (like those booty ones) and her stance is kinda feminine to

If she's in the game I hope they make her CE something cool instead of a joke like her Critical Finish in SC4. Make it something like her 2B8BAA move (Guardian Wings) but upped to 100 looking insanely cool.

I wonder if Cassandra will be 16 years old lol ?
I'm sure she'll get plenty of Patty's moves, and that sounds interesting.
And more butt attacks as always .. :sc2cas2:

The setting makes me curious. It's set in 1586, or at least that's where it starts. This is one year before the original Soulcalibur. With this being a reboot, and Talim and Tira being leaked, it makes me wonder if they're going reintroduce them from a new starting point here to have them in the game.

Here are the ages of the SCI characters in 1586:

Mitsurugi - 24
Sophitia - 20
Siegfried/Nightmare - 18
Taki - 24
Kilik - 18
Xianghua - 15
Maxi - 23
Cervantes - 50
Hwang - 27
Seong Mi-na - 18
Voldo - 45
Astaroth - 2
Ivy - 27
Rock - 37
Lizardman/Aeon - 31
Yoshimitsu - ?
Edge Master - ?

Actually, there appears to be conflicting sources. Some sources, like Soul Archive, state that SC1 takes place in 1587. New Legends of Project Soul, on the other hand, states 1586. So there's a possibility that SCVI's plot isn't a year behind.

But the birth dates reflect the former. Sophitia was born in 1566 and is 21 in SCI for example.
