Lool, we need more characters in that cover...and if there is another guest character, this cover is definitelly bad news, if its the definitive one.
If the other guest is a DLC, then he shouldn't be on the cover from the start, unless its a Complete Edition where you get all DLC.

Where are "all these people" that never played SC or fighting games in general that are going to get this game after that lackluster character model in the latest reveal?

Verified twitter shills from mainstream gaming publications that want preview copies don't count.
Huh. Most of the casual responses I see on resetera and Neogaf are either saying they hate the Witcher games or they are saying geralt looks better than the rest of the cast.

Look at how unpopular Devil Jin was. This is not a good long term idea.
It's not the same.

He is an already known character. People that don't like his style, or don't think he should even be in the game(non weapon), won't play him. Also he wasn't that great to play as imo.

I'm talking about a NEW style for CaS.

Even though I'm optimistic about the new guest character (yeah, the trailer felt lazy in terms of content (especially Nightmare's appearance at the beginning), plus the graphics were not the best, and yet I rewatched it I don't even know how many times because of brilliant music, mesmerizing battle with Mitsu and beautiful action), putting him on the cover alongside Mitsurugi (without adding anything/anyone else) seems unfair to the rich SC story and its universe with numerous uniquely designed characters.

I've always considered the battle between good and evil, Soul Calibur and Soul Edge to be one of the key aspects of the game (of course, it's partly an oversimplification). Even in SCVI you apparently keep dividing characters on good, bad and neutral ones, judging by their aura during RE and weapon glow during Soul Charge. And these two extremities have always seemed exciting to me, with each character having his/her own reason for being on this/that side or even being misled due to certain circumstances, which is why putting only two neutral characters on the cover is kind of a let-down for me, as it does not represent the core element of SoulCalibur.

I like Geralt so the cover doesn't bother me. But it is a bit surprising that choice was made.

Honestly when I first saw it I didn't think it was the final version.

*Random bias* I think Yoshi should be on the cover! :^)

I believe the Soul Charge aura is the color of the characters weapon stream. When Maxi is revealed, for instance, his should be green, Cassandras should be pink...so on and so forth...

Please for the love of god the game is a works in progress we should be over zealous that we have another sc after 6 years and even luckier that they even thought about making another one! Graphics
Gameplay looks shades what ever else will all be worked out. Lets not kill or diminish there thought of what they want to bring us. We can already see that there doing a finaminal job and what ever else needs to be addressed after release thats what you have patchs for. Lets not bicker but apreciate and give our thoughts in a positive attitude twards them. I know if im reading all this shit n im on the games inside team id say go fuck your selfs you inconsiderate fucks!!! Just saying..
Yeah I agree that they should be praised for their work, but I think there are aspects of what they have now that they can at least touch up to make it look more breathtaking for the needed mainstream success, and they need to get more attention onto it. Graphics for one is apart of the market appeal for games to break the casual mainstreamer's attention.

Yeah, I'm really not liking the lack of textures on the character clothing (at least non-armored ones). Character models still look too smooth to me. This reveal made that very noticeable.

Eh, could use some boobies if you ask me, like Ivy's or Sophitia's.

Also I don't mind the design of the logo though it does make seeing the swords hard to see. Plus I assume that Geralt won't play a large role in the game's story so this cover is misleading. My least favorite one by far.

Comparing SC fanbase with SF's or MK's is a bad standard.

The MK fanbase gave support to a series that sucked for an entire decade until MK9 which was a decent/good game.

The SF fanbase would eat shit if campcom labeled it as a SF game and they did also buy it all the 4039294 versions of it as they always do.

SC fanbase couldn't even keep it together when a mildly unfinished game with debatable balancing hit the market.

All I can really say is, I'm glad I'm not a mod, and so should everyone else be.
Oh don't worry. This is all going to get cleaned up in the next day or so. Infractions are going to be handed out also. I'm tired of pounding my head up against the wall when it comes to this ONE thread. I don't get the appeal of typing things out when you know they're going to be deleted in a day or so. Almost all of these conversations/thoughts/opinions could have been carried on in any other thread and it wouldn't have been bothered. But no you people just cant leave well enough alone. Fine, I've got 20 minutes to waste to clean all of this up.

Thanks for the news !

I'm wondering if we will get Ivy, Zasalamel's gameplay there (too early for Geralt I suppose, maybe I'm wrong) . And, I'm wondering if we will get another character reveal ?
There will probably be another character revealed on that day considering that it is the last thursday of the month, and they have confirmed in another tweet that this is "the latest version of the game" so it will probably have all the characters announced so far.

The cover seems to be heavily geared towards Witcher fans. When you compare it to the previous covers that featured guests, they were all in the background. Not much attention was drawn to them and the series main characters seemed to be the main focus. In SCIV, the blades were put between Ivy & Nightmare and Hilde & Siegfried. When viewers see those covers, they will be drawn to those two characters, while the Vader and Yoda are still there in the background. The fighting in the following two boxarts are the main focus, while Kratos and Ezio were present, but not the main focus.

But here in SC6, Geralt could be mistaken as the main character. Mitsu typically doesn't have a major impact on the story, so Geralt may as well have been. Fan of the Witch, who aren't familiar with SoulCalibur will look at it and say, "Oh, a new game where Geralt is fighting some samurai." The tone of the cover also has a dark "western" feeling to it too. It contradicts the lighter tone of the game itself [although there are more aspects of the game we don't know about]. The art itself isn't bad, but it feels somewhat dishonest. It's like seeing the art of Ezio vs Mitsu for SCV as the boxart

tbh, I like how the Mitsu vs Geralt art looks, but not as an official boxart. And as far as the logo on the SC6 boxart goes, I hope they fix it. I don't mind the font, but the grayed SoulCalibur and Soul Edge looks like something a highschool student would do. It looks amateurish and I hope it changes

That event's on the last Thursday of the month. You know what that means.

I hope so too.
How tf are you allowed to have these AVIs lol?

And why aren't you sending me a link to the art when you update it?

19 DLC characters because character select screen has room for 20 characters

That leak is fake.

If there were more guests, that wouldn't be the cover art.

Mitsu is about to split Ezio in 2 in that pic.

I have a gut feeling that this logo is still not final. It's breaking the tradition of a unique stylized logo that is symetrical (except SCV but that logo was paying tribute to Soul Edge logo). This "new" SC6 one is literally just a font.

Still, it's odd that they haven't revealed the true logo yet, as it's usually the very first thing that is shown when a Soul Calibur game is announced.

Yeah, that exhibition is at 21:30 UTC, if I am not mistaken. The timetable was somewhere on page 157 or 158 of this thread.

I dunno... anything (as much as Ivy is there) looks better than the one we got in my opinion.

Ivy or burn.

But seriously... don't they have the artist Takuji Kawano working for them?

They could have created a masterpiece of box art. Instead we got that...

Kawano has been the lead character illustrator in the Soul series since Soul Calibur II if I am not mistaken.
I will never understand why they don't make box arts that could be exposed as art. They could do it with a bit of effort if they wanted to. But no.

Another missed opportunity.
