Soul Calibur VI: General discussion

Watch it be Lizzy.

Seems weird that both Hwang and Yun-Seong tended towards the desert stages when their style is pretty much close to a cutlass. The Jian users have them as an option but their movements lean towards being girly.

I thought we’d be safe until Xianghua’s Critical Edge peace sign.

Of course I think Cassandra’s style kind of suits men better but there’s the taunt and those god damn embarrassing hearts.

And Benny said something really horrible with costume DLC. That means we’ll get freaking Idolmasters.

He said something to the effect of, "I think a big chunk of the reveals are going to happen at an upcoming event.
Yeah, I mentioned this in another thread. What could he even have meant by this? The only event I can think of that's happening soonish is E3, but that's like a month and a half away. Maybe they're planning an event specifically for the game? They've already done one before so it's not entirely outside the realm of possibility (though I personally doubt it would happen).

I'm not super disappointed, but 1 character reveal per month is just bad. Sadly it loses momentum fast and we don't actually get to see their ingame, making the discussion rather slow and pointless.

Also, if they are planning a big reveal in E3, they better find a way to keep the people who are growing more restless entertained, it is 2018 and people need that hype train.

E3 would make the most sense. Otherwise there's... Uh... Evo? That's in August tho.

I totally agree. Entertainment for this game is a bit disappointing. Though I'm happy with Sieg's reveal, it lacks of news and hype. I thought we can have a reveal next Thursday, but now I feel pessimistic. I say we'll get a reveal mid-May, and I suppose Tira, Astaroth or Cervantes to be confirmed. But, of course, one of the three, as NAMCO did one reveal in March and one in April...

What if...

Gr0h is really a treeman and he grew from a seed hence his name being Grow?!?!

Then his father IS THE EARTH!!!!

And Gaia is Mother Earth goddes.Captain Planet is Gaia's son which means Gh0h and Captain Planet are brothers!

So Siegfried looks post SC3. Sophitia, Mitsurugi, and Ivy are SC1. This is like a Marvel's Contest of Champions setting.

Yeah, in a perfect world it would be great if every week we were getting (one of the following):
1. A character reveal
2. A character intro/breakdown video (ideally a bit more in depth than what we have been getting)
3. A character's 2P reveal
4. Gameplay from a promotional event

Even if you imagine they only reveal 20 characters prior to launch and ignore the promotional events, that's potentially sixty weeks worth of hype. Oh well. At least it sounds as if the next reveal will include more than one character.

I find this so hilariously for some reason and don't know the context. Any history notes?

Seeing my body Z back feels good. Now just need Tira...
They haven't showed off character customization right?

The treatment of Mi-Na, Rock, Hwang, and Li Long is crap. Gets worse in that order. I’m sure SCIV listed their replacements before the SB character with at least one of the first two.

Mi-Na really doesn’t seem to stand out among the original roster either and you could have easily had Kilik in her place.

It’s really surprising that some iconic characters like him and Ivy weren’t actually in the original game.

Soul Blade characters suffer with some problems-

There was a split when porting the game, who's original name was Soul Edge, due to the deceased Edge gaming magazine, out of the 4 characters you named Hwang wasn't even in the original port and was made as a way to censor Mitsu in Korea, Lin-Long was also censored in the European port using a three way staff in it.

Roko and Mina survived to SC, which is the game that brought the series to the public eye, some people say the game attained "console seller" status, but that is up to debate., but in that same game there were two characters who were introduced using similar styles, but better.

Not really all that surprising, Jin is iconic to Tekken, but he only appeared in Tekken 3 for the first time (as Kazuya's replacement) and got his own moveset only in the next game.

Mi-Na needs more different moveset from Kilik that actually utilizes sword at the end of her stick, she has a lot of potential for some top level fighting chareography (and a little more serious personality and motivation that would make her cooler).
As for Rock... he is just irredeemably boring no matter what you do with him, he is just outdated and has nothing going for him that Asta doesn't do better.
Hwang has some chances to return right now.
As for Li-long, I guess they just don't want to have two nunchaku characters as their movesets would look too similar and Maxi is just more popular.

Hwang seems generic next to Yun who is annoying.

SB characters were mostly cookie cutters (Samurai / Ninja / Knight / Paladin (basically what Sophitia is) / Barbarian / Kung Fu Guy who was so generic / not-Chinese girl/ whatever Voldo is / Pirate / generic fighting game protagonist clone of the samurai.

Only the paladin, samurai, ninja, and Voldo make it originally. Kung fu guy doesn’t make it. Everyone else slowly rejoins. The most generic newcomers (monk and actually token Chinese girl) are the protagonists of the story and the latter’s fighting style is new along with the BDSM witch who becomes one of the most iconic characters. The pirate also gets added but is now undead.

Next game we get a fencer who becomes a vampire.
