Soul Calibur VI: General discussion

So assuming this is a right date and we get 22 characters, we have 10 right now and 5 months to go.
It does makes sense that E3 gets about 3 characters.
So
May-1 character
June E3-4 characters
July- 2 character
August- 2 characters
September- 2 characters + one "secret" in game.
Would be my bet, now it makes sense they had to slow down reveals.

I suspect May to be another month with 1 character reveal, just to save the most hot dope stuff for E3.

Taki, Voldo, Asta, and Cervy with a Pirate Ship Stage reveal at E3. Something in that kind would too freaking hype and dope.

Also it's about time they drop dem Ivy and Zasa breakdowns, hopefully some dope longer breakdowns next month.

My guess for the character reveal would be that they are announced in the format of 2, 4, 2, 1, 1, 2, 4, 2, 1, 1...
December: Mitsurugi | Sophitia
January: Grøh | Nightmare | Xianghua | Kilik
February: Ivy | Zasalamel
March: Geralt
April: Siegfried
May: Astaroth | Maxi
June: Taki | Yoshimitsu | Talim | New Character
July: Voldo | Tira
August: Cervantes
September: Raphael
October: Seong Mi-na | Hwang
November: Cassandra | Yun-seong | Aeon | Rock | Setsuka | Hilde | Li Long | New Character //Release Date and Season 1 DLC

For my prediction, the initial roster for SoulCalibur VI will be 22 with a Season 1 DLC containing eight characters to bring the roster to 30. Cassandra and Yun-seong would be DLC characters because Sophitia and Hwang fill their roles. Hwang is also chosen as part of the base roster because he is a better fit for the story and seting of SoulCalibur VI and Yun-seong would sell more DLC because he has been featured in more games thus exposing him to a wider audience. Namco is gonna have to have big profile characters in the DLC list if they want people to buy it.

Season 2 DLC, if the game sells well, could probably be: Patroklos, Z.W.E.I., Viola, Dampierre, Algol, Amy, New Character, and a Guest Character to bring the final roster up to 38 characters

Would take another guest, another new character, Edge Master, Olcadan, Charade, Alisa Bosconovitch as a custom-only style, literally anything else other than Patroklos in that second DLC pack, and swap Amy and Li Long around, otherwise I'd be pretty alright with that lineup.

If they’re doing a Tekken style, they could go with Kazuya this time and have his Soul Charge be the devil form. Or stick with Heihachi.

So could Papi fight like Daddy!Kratos? Maybe that’s one reason for the code name?

The weighting of characters by popularity is an interesting angle.

Do you want to put the heavy hitters closer to the release date to build hype right before the release?

Should they reveal them intermittently between characters with smaller fanbases to sustain an even amount of hype until release?

Should they just show us the full roster and then rely on information about different game modes and/or the story to maintain interest?

Who are the more popular characters (given they’re all at the same stage of development) and how do you determine “popularity weights” to determine reveal order?

Project Soul has a lot of hard questions to answer, and I don’t want to put any unnecessary pressure on them to avoid a rushed release.

Personal opinion time:

My rated list is...

1) Astaroth
2) Hilde
3) Aeon
4) don’t care below here, fuck you, fight me in my driveway

In my perspective, the best approach would be to go all out in E3 and announce Talim ,Taki , Yoshimitsu, and a new character. Talim and Taki ranked #1 and #2 respectively in the popularity poll while Yoshimitsu ranked #9. Announcing Yoshimitsu as a playable character not only establishes the fact that SoulCalibur VI would have the top 9 most popular characters in the poll but can also act as a cross promotion that capitalizes on the success of Tekken 7. It would also make sense to announce a new character to freshen up the roster and help promote SoulCalibur VI as a brand new game.

E3 is also the perfect platform to announce all of these characters since it is an event viewed by a large scale of audience so if Namco wants to bring back estranged fans while gaining new ones then this is the right platform to generate that hype.

If I was in charge of promoting SoulCalibur VI, I would have saved revealing Geralt until E3 and announced him alongside character creation and the return of one or two popular characters. This would have targeted three levels of audience: a returning character for dedicated fans, the character creation for casual fans, and Geralt to attract new fans not familiar with the series. In place of Geralt, someone like Taki or Astaroth would have probably been announced beforehand.

A new build of the game must have 12 chars at least.

my prediction is:
May: usual short trailer for a character (maybe a fast one: Taki or maybe Maxi)
June (before E3): a big new trailer for the game (story mode, CaS etc.) and the new character.
E3: a new playable build with 12 chars.

New release date rumours speculating about 27 September to be the release date for SC6:

Haha, why does everyone like Talim so much!? She was so weak, and Calibur doesn't exactly have a Filipino community.

I could ask the same thing about Mitsurugi and Taki, and from what I understand Soul Calibur doesn't have the biggest fanbase in Japan like it does in North America and Europe surprisingly.
