Soul Calibur VI: General discussion

We don't even have any confirmation or inkling that there will be a preorder character, no need to give them ideas. But if they were going to do that, for the sake of argument, I feel like Raphael may be the one that gets that treatment, hence our "stress sweat" but he makes it in the game anyway. But I doubt that this will happen, personally. We already have a season pass bonus character, we don't need a preorder character too.

I'm still think, they put Talim as PreOrder, because, thats a BEST way to put her without a story questions.

You realise this is not a complete carbon copy of the SC1 storyline? If it was, it would be hella short lol. The existence of Groh as a new character should have made this clear to you already but I guess not. This is simply a retelling of the major plot points of SC1 - they can easily rework it in order to fit characters like Talim, Raphael, Zasalamel etc. into the story.

Technically, there's no reason for Zasalamel to appear before the events of SCIII: he came just because SE lost of its power and because SC was infected by evil which was making it lose its power too. He wanted to restore the swords to their original powers (more specifically, for SC to be once again powerful, he needed SE to be back to its former glory).

Since we're not sure about the story yet, there is at first no visible reason for him to be here, but I'm glad they managed to add him. There's no reason for it not to be the case for other characters!

Well, if they put Talim on the main roster, they need to put a F*** Yunseong, because he plays a biggest role in her storyline... AND THEY FORGET ABOUT HWANG AGAIN!!!! Hwang, The Great Patriot, has been replaced by the some sort of amateur! Oh, sorry... nevermind

You can say that, but it still seems like, yes, for the most part, it is a retelling of SoulCalibur I storyline. There are going to be far more details and events shown, but it's still the original SoulCalibur I storyline. Grøh's parts will be brand new, for sure, but from what we've seen so far, everyone's story who was already there is basically already the same. Tira's story can exist because she has a known backstory that hasn't actually been seen, so if Tira is in SoulCalibur VI, it will be telling her story as a Bird of Passage, not as a servant of Nightmare/Soul Edge, perhaps ending with setting her on that path, but there's plenty of room for her other story to be the main focus.

It doesn't seem like to me that they're changing any real details about anything that already happened and is known, they're just fleshing everything out a bit more. Even with regards to Grøh, it was never said explicitly that he did have a rivalry with Kilik, but it wasn't said that he didn't, either. It perhaps has some implications on Kilik's darker side, things he'd rather forget, things that he only tells his closest friends, Maxi and Xianghua.

So, yeah, Talim, Raphael, Yun-seong, and Cassandra could be included in the game, but not necessarily to play roles in the story, but they could only if they have places to be that can be justified by known or extrapolated events, but of those four, the only one I personally see having a story bit would be Talim, since she's number one on the character poll, so they'll give her a little extra love. She'll be on that short path at the end of the timeline, the line next to Zasalamel. The other three can make it into the game, but probably would be among the three characters that don't have stories. Setsuka definitely doesn't have story, though she'd still make it in as a DLC character, who wouldn't factor into the main story mode of the game anyway. Same goes for Hilde.

The only person central to the main storyline left is Cervantes. Anyone else doesn't really hold weight in terms of that being the reason they're in. The rest will all probably have some degree of reworking to their classic story, probably based on popularity.

Why is everyone like, "muh, sc1 story so sc1 characters only."
It's a reboot, so characters can be put in. So what if talim is too young? Just make her older. Blank we can have talim. Anyways there is a reason no gas ages anymore, so all the favourites can make it in regardless of their age at the time.

I still don't understand why people think that the story and timeline has any bearing on who makes it into the game. It's literally a reboot.

If they wanted to they could make Lucky Chloe the next host of Soul Edge lmao I'm sure they have no problem shifting around birthdays to age characters up, or make other characters actually relevant to the story. This should have been clear with both the inclusion of Zasalamel and Groh.

eh. Her story can.be changed. Yunsung is like 20% of her story.

The story goes past SC1 anyway which is the whole point of this game, seeing stuff in more detail and what happened in between SC1 and 2. We've seen the timeline and it goes up to at least 1590 at minimum, a year before SC2 is set. Remember there's a character who seems to not show up until 1590 as well, they won't need to age up Talim at all if that's her (just say she left home a year earlier than we originally thought).

Yun's not necessary for Talim either since that's her SCIII story and it doesn't matter at all anyway but I expect if we do get a Korean they'll put in Yun over Hwang regardless since he's a lot more familiar to the general fanbase.

What I'm most curious about is Tira, if they do end up having her fight as a young Bird-of-Passage member early in the story we could see her aged down a few years physically, potentially looking about Amy's age or even slightly under. We're probably not going to see Amy (at least in the base game) so I can see them having a younger Tira be the smallest of the cast this time around.

I wonder how the fanbase would react to Talim being an adult.

I think we need a clone tier list.
With top tiers(Shura)
Mid tiers(scv kids)
And low tiers (Yoshimitsu)
Shura and the other bonus characters are garbage. They are literally the original characters with tits. Zero gameplay differences. They are beyond lazy and add nothing to the game.

Given that SCV and T7 both had PO characters, saying there's no reason to suspect them is being ignorant.

Also there's nothing saying the PO character isn't the bonus character.

To the people using "debut in post-SC1 games" as an excuse for characters to not be in this game, it was said at least twice in interviews that there will be events from both Soul Edge and SC2 in this game, despite the focus on SC1. SC2 happens in the same year as SC3 and SC4, so, literally everyone until SC4 has a chance, its not too much to expect even Hilde in this game, so, no, Talim, Amy and Tira are not too young and they certainly don't need to be rewritten as older to be in this game, stop using that as an excuse. Also, remember that this is a reboot, but its not a total remake, so its not like this game will have an entirely different story (as evidenced by the story trailer), don't expect things happening in an incredibly different way (as they said in interviews: events from SE, SC1 and SC2), there is literally no reason for anyone to believe characters will be made older for the sake of story, its simply not necessary.
