Soul Calibur VI: General discussion

Roster debates are kind of the only thing to discuss though at the moment, since every known character's moveset has pretty much been fully analysed by now (aside from Talim who isn't playable yet in demos) and so has what few story images we've seen. Until the next character reveal or unless Talim shows up in the next demo somewhere all that's really left is 'who's left?' which naturally results in talks of relevance, semi-clones, popularity, etc.

I'm just getting tired of the same people having the same arguments over the same subjects over and over again. Can't we get some subject variety to ease the wait until release day?

This.

But... what have we not talked about? .____.
I feel like we keep circling the same topics because there's nothing else to talk about. Have we overlooked something that is actually of some worth to discuss?

But we're already getting Sophitia. We don't need a figurine clone style.

Joking just to be clear.
I agree with your joke lol... I'm no Cass fan at all... Honestly id be over the moon if it was Raph.
But like talim I just want to get these characters out the way now

I love styles like Taki and Mitsurugi which are mostly unisex really. It always feels weird to make a male Xianghua or female Astaroth. Even Raphael works as female. Sophitia almost works as male but there are a few questionable moves. Tira definitely doesn't work on a male. Siegfried and Nightmare feel a bit off on a female. The SoulCalibur III custom styles were mostly unisex too.

Mitsu is unisex? Lol I still remember how absurd some of my girls using his style looked in soul calibur 4 with his overtly masculine mannerisms. The guy walks and moves with oozing machismo quite often.

Would be nice if every style had feminine, unisex and masculine forms. Not gonna happen sadly.

It's not very feminine, to be certain, but I feel like it works on tough looking women. Not so much on cute or elegant girls.

But even just some gendered idle stances would be fine. Like if you could be Chinese Blade or Sword & Shield idle stance using Xianghua or Cassandra style, for example. Or Katana or Wave Sword idle stance while using Mitsurugi or Cervantes style.

In four he did the "I've got big balls leg spread walk" lol, what kind of tough women do you know?

I mean, they don't necessarily have to do something as lazy as transferring Amy's attacks 'as is' to Raphael. When Alpha Patroklos got Setsuka's move list they pretty much redesigned everything feminine (mostly his body attacks) and of course attacks that utilised the umbrella. They can definitely pull of an Amy + Raphael.

LOL Sophitia and her leg bent poses and her feminine shield attacks, nope I can't do it!

At least Amy's only real questionable thing was her kick and win pose haha

I guess maybe it wasn't so bad in SoulCalibur V, because I don't remember it being so pronounced. It's been a long time since I've played SoulCalibur IV, and I may not have made many if any female Mitsurugis back then, I can't really rightly remember.

This is true, and even though they made it less feminine, they didn't really make it super masculine either. I made many an Alpha Patroklos female custom character, and they never seemed out of place or unnatural. If we really aren't getting Amy back, I want Raphael to step his game up. It makes sense, too, since it was him who taught her how to fight in the first place. She had to get her moves from somewhere!

A few of Amy's more ballerinaesque moves don't quite look right on a male, either, and like Sophitia, a few leg bends here and there. Trying to make Hwang in SoulCalibur V was the worst, though. I understand why the Quick Battle version used Devil Jin. He's just not right using Leixia's style... sooo much wrong there.

Na SCV Raph is the worst version yet...

He definitely needs more options and his stances back... Taking some moves from Amy isn't a bad idea at all.
At least give him back his moves and stances from SC2-4

I already explained why that's a bad idea, but I will agree that it would be nice to have some moves and stances from previous games back. But I'm not expecting all of those to return, considering Ivy only got Serpent's Embrace back. It would be cool, but it's not really necessary for all his stances to return and in the case of Shadow Evade, it would be detrimental if it's like SCIV where Shadow Evade Beta only comes out after Shadow Evade Alpha. Taking SEA away entirely and changing SEB so that it actually has mixup potential was a huge improvement. Because SEA didn't have a low hitting option either, SEB (the current one) is superior anyway, and you're less likely to get interrupted now that you can perform those moves faster. As for Vurkolak Envelopment, that stance has become obsolete since almost all options have been given different commands.

If the point you're trying to make is that having less stance options automatically makes a character inferior, then I disagree.

@Apoc Revolution
Do not be disheartened by the lack of vision of these people, my dear nemesis. Let your rapier speak for you. Too bad you don't take part in tournaments so that you can show the world what Raph really can do, though.

I wish I could... There is nothing you can do when you lack the means to travel. At least you're one of the few who knows his potential.

Mitsu wasn't as bad in five. Still a bit masculine, but I was able to not laugh at the girls having that style in five unlike four. The girls having his style in four was to me as silly as a guy with viola's style in five.

I think at minimum every style should have a gender neutral option in addition to it's original.
