Soul Calibur VI: General discussion

Thank you for those wonderful quotes. It is most reassuring.

I really don't get putting Tira below Voldo and Talim below Sophitia when it would make so much more sense the other way around. Tira has a lot of ground to cover to get us her origin story as a Bird of Passage and discover Soul Edge, while Talim mostly is going to discover a Soul Edge fragment and depart on her journey that will take place in SoulCalibur II, that this timeline doesn't cover.
The positions are largely arbitrary. I didn't give it much thought beyond vaguely evil characters on one side and vaguely good characters on the other. Until Talim and Voldo's spots on the roster are confirmed, I'm not convinced there's a pattern outside the Siegfried and Nightmare columns, which I put Raphael and Tira on since this is their most ambiguous alignments in the franchise.
I think you meant I was talking about your selection screen here, I meant the story timeline. The story timeline below Sophitia goes from midway 1584 to at least 1587, probably further, which could fit within Tira's Bird of Passage narrative, while the story timeline below Voldo begins midway 1589, which is more in line with Talim's involvement in the story.

Ah, I did misread. In that case:

I simply input what names best fit the spots based on their relative length. I used the closest font to the screen's text I could find to more or less approximate it. I may be wrong, but Tira's name is too short to fit any other spot in my estimation, especially in relation to Talim and Voldo.

Lol moving back in time to change details and reintroduce/reinvent old characters is still a reboot, dancing around the word because that's what SCV was too won't change what it means.

They are not changing details, they're adding new narrative and characters thats involved in the story that they couldn't have done back then. Retelling the story without rebooting it. Anyways tbh I'm tired of the slow reveals and character. I want to hear more about other modes like small details here and there. We all know whose going to be in it obviously.

They said from the start that the word that defines SC6 is "Reboot".

WCCFTech: Across the whole timeline, there’s a huge amount of time between each title and character, such as different iterations of Nightmare. Will we see that affect the story with different costumes or character variations, such as showing up as an alternate or younger/older version of their character?
Okubo:
For Soul Calibur VI, I don’t know if the term ‘reboot’ is the right term to use, but we are revisiting the narrative and retelling the story. Of course, we have the setting of the Astral Realm as well. In terms of characters and their design of which characters are participating in Soul Calibur VI, we tried not to be too bound by their specific era or setting as much as delivering a roster of the most fun characters we thought characters should experience.

Who cares what term is used? Lol all that matters is that virtually any character can come back and the story is similar but not the same.

Anyway, is EVO the ideal place to reveal the new character? Or TGS? Or right before the game releases?

Please don’t use this excuse to justify why X character should be in then complain and cry when they aren’t.

It’s been made clear multiple times already, with what’s left to the base roster certain characters won’t be in the base game. Don’t throw a fit when your favorite character doesn’t show up, you’ve been warned multiple times, guys.

Evo is the next big thing AND it's two weeks away, which keeps with (roughly) the timing scheme they've been following.

I think that's the best time for the next reveal.

Ok, this will be the only time I shall sully myself with character prediction.

I predict that EVO will either be the stage for the next multi-character reveal trailer OR for the CaS trailer. The former will most likely be dragged until the final weeks of the pre-launch era, so by some vague logic, that leaves us with the CaS thing, which I am looking forward to.
Raphael will be left for either the final reveal or for a part of the first post-release DLC batch of characters (we'll see how they even will conceptualise this strategy), but we will definitely have him! People have expressed almost universal love for him (except for the HERETICS who would fuse him with Amy or something, smfh), so it's bound to happen. @Vergeben might finally shed some more light on this matter, I think... Pretty please? :)

I blame @Maedhros. he just had to hunger for MOARRRR!!
I LOVE YOU! :D

Your condemnation struck me... It struck me deeply. u_u I can't. u_u

I wonder if the reason why the character select screen wasn't shown in those IGN videos is because that build has unrevealed characters in it. I mean it seems unlikely that they made an entire new build just for Talim and Voldo.

If that's the case, maybe we'll see that build, with Talim and Voldo plus some other new characters at EVO.
