from Arby's:
We had a blast at @EVO! Thanks to @BandaiNamcoUS for hosting us and thanks to the whole FGC for being great. See you next year?

Y’all were amazing and truly set the stage of history for some amazing paper craft! Until the next one, friends!

Okay so Im late af cuz i was watching the rest of EVO and posted a bit in the Discord. BUT GODDAMN ASTAROTH AND MINA. ASTAROTH LOOKS FUCKING HUGE. AND THEY FINALLY MADE MINA DIFFERENT AND SHE LOOKS FUN AF tbh I may Secondary her now.

Assuming they’re in, Rock and Hwang really get me nervous about SC2+ characters.

Lizardman’s sword is to big to be a Sophie clone.

Hwang is kind of an unperson but Koreans seem safe now, so it could be Yun instead.

Rock felt like a bootleg Astaroth gameplay-wise. Hope he can be varied enough.

Inferno was shown but could be unplayable.

The middle and the bottom left are interchangeable between CaS and Lizzy I’m thinking.

Raph and Setsuka seem difficult or low tier so it feels likely they’ll be axed. ;(

Tira is a schemer first and foremost. She and Raph probably don’t have their quirks in the timeline yet.

Cassandra is liked but not as probable due to Lizzy and Sophie.

Hilde is in IV which isn’t being focused on.

One or two of them must go...

Raph or Inferno could be the bonus character. The former as a cliffhanger to set up Siegfried’s freedom from Nightmare or the latter just to unlock the boss from the beginning.

If there's a season 2 DLC, SCVI has much more to consider about the single player experience IMO than T7, so there could be an extra expansion in terms of modes, CaS stuff, story, etc. It's a game geared that way. I could see their DLC, while hopefully landing better, to be almost the exact opposite of T7, where the first season mostly returns old characters, and the second could be mostly completely new designs and/or guests. There are some long asked for styles that they could make good on, and having them as DLC and attached to interesting mode stuff and not having to force them into the main story, could make them more successful than, say, what SCV did.

Going by the ESRB, I think Tira could be the 'female character that appears nude but with no detail'. It COULD be refering to CAS as some people suspect but CAS characters have never been fully nude (they always wear simple underwear) and the phrasing of 'one female character' makes me believe it's an actual character rather than an uncustomized CAS, and I can easily imagine Tira being mostly naked but with like bird feathers or some sh*t covering her privates, lol. She seems the most likely to fit this concept at least, unless we're getting a new female (which appears unlikely at this point). The only thing that sorta makes me think it's just CAS is the 'crotch region flat' thing 'cause that sorta sounds more doll-like and CAS-y.

I sort of agree with the idea of Lizardman being a story mode enemy and possible DLC/Bonus. I really hope they don't pull the same sh*t Mortal Kombat X did by having characters in the story mode that have full movesets but aren't f*cking playable. That kinda sh*t pisses me off to no end.

I hope we don't have to wait too long for gameplay footage of the new reveals. The initial hype for a character reveal wears off really quickly when there's nothing to add to it :/ I keep forgetting Voldo was announced despite it only being 2 weeks 'cause we've seen nothing more of him.

I think that meant Taki. Either way I think remaining characters can end up a wildcard:

Papa Groh / Cervantes / Lizardman / Hwang / Rock / Inferno

or

Papa Groh / Cervantes / Lizardman / Raph / Tira / Hwang or Yun-Seong.

I can’t see Rock being left out if Hwang gets in. He needs some serious reworking though. It feels really odd.

I took a look at the popularity poll once again and I saw Mina was at 15th place. Astaroth was at 25th but tbh he was pretty much guaranteed to show up. I'm also 100% sure that Tira and Cervantes will be making it as well. That leaves Cassandra at 12th, Amy at 13th place and Yun at 14th place.
I believe they will all make it but hopefully they increase the roster size on the character select screen or else there will be some huge cuts.
Raphael and Setsuka were at 19th and 20th place which makes it very tricky for them as well as Hilde who was at 24th. Lizardman was very low at 30th place which makes me believe that he could be turned into a generic cas story mode fight but then again his fighting style for SC5 was perfect so hopefully they will have him be the same. Rock was also low at 31th place so I personally don't see him return unless again they increase the size dramatically. I forgot to add that I do not know if it's even possible to include Amy without Raphael since she is way more popular but then again there's also Viola so I have a feeling the dlc will work things out for them.
I know many will say that the popularity poll is not all they are going to focus on or that the story does not support their inclusion but I think we shouldn't focus on who can make it just by looking at the timelines plus there will be lots of dlc. Especially if we all support the game.

There's pretty much a 0% chance of Rock being in now.

They specifically showed off Astaroth combo-ing into and chaining air throws all through the reveal trailer clearly showing him as a full grappler character now (which was the only thing differentiating Rock from Astaroth before), and even gave him some Rock-esque fur on his outfit. They're already given Asta Rock's sole gimmick, there's nothing to rework Rock into without completely changing his style altogether (and at that point they're much better off just making a new character instead).

Rock's gone for good and it's time to accept that.

If the story reaches the point where Siegfried reclaims his mind from Soul Edge/Nightmare, Raphael is essential; he was the key figure in that happening and so far the story beats match up entirely with what was known before. If not, I guess his chances are way lower, since his story arc was pretty insulated until that one moment of importance and he had basically nothing to do with anyone else in the cast until III, when SE's corruption took hold (a direct result of stabbing its eye) and he had Kilik/Amy to play off.

How do you guys think Tira's gameplay will be like?

Will it still have the split-personality thing? Keep in mind that it didn't develop until SCIV, which SCVI doesn't reach. But this being a reboot, they could easily write it in for gameplay purposes.

The character "that appears nude but with no detail" is Taki. I mean she is not wearing anything (no underwear) under her body suit.

Anyways I am sure Tira will be in the launch roster. Same applies to Cervantes and Raphael .
Probably Lizardman too (in some form or another). Maybe as an example of what we can achieve in CaS...

About Cassandra. She was above Seong Mi-na on popularity so she must return too... I hope.

This time I would love to see Hwang instead of Yun-seong.
He deserves more recognition.

To be truth the only thing that could surprise me right now is Amy being in the launch roster.
In fact Amy is the one that could surprise us all if they take advantage of the opportunity to unleash her potential mixing some Viola moves to make her even more unique...
I wish.

Hilde and Setsuka sound like DLC material.
Damn we need more slots. Not a fan of DLCs/season passes... Tekken 7 did many things wrong.

Have you seen Ivy? Or Yoshimitsu? Or anyone else in this game? Do you think anyone in development looked at any character and said "we can't do this, they weren't like this in SC1 or 2"?

I was just wondering what you guys thought.

I said myself they could easily retcon it, but do you think they should? That's all.

Of course they should, the split styles is a huge part of her character. She'd just feel weird without it.

If anything I feel like the SCIII version was incomplete/unfinished like a prototype style more than anything else, and adding the full split in SCIV was them giving her the full style she should've had before (they didn't exactly try their hardest with the gameplay in III).
