Soul Calibur VI: General discussion

That's why there should be a adjustable option to tighten them or something to make them fit nicely. When it comes down to customization you need a lot of options to actually create a good decent un-generic characters.
This is very hard to do from a practical standpoint unfortunately and not a big enough seller (when the status quo is almost no one offers any serious customization) to justify the amount of effort it would take.

Worse it can make it harder for casuals to use (which is the whole point) and while it'd be awesome to have a casual and a pro mode for a character builder, you'd be more likely to see that from a new game that's built around that idea rather than something that's a side feature.

The custom costumes still reduce the model quality of the characters.

Hope Libra is fun since otherwise I’m afraid it’ll be a glorified artist reference again.

Yes, they were available as CaS pieces, but they were also much more detailed and better crafted than the rest of the game's regular CaS pieces (also, there was still a palpable difference in quality when you compared the CaS-able pieces with the actual 2P costumes).

I'll admit this was true, there was a slight difference. I thought a lot of that had to do with the break mechanic. 2P costumes ripped, tore and broke properly during a fight but CAS pieces were just outright removed.

I'm not entirely sure how that will work in this game because it looks as if everything, even standard costumes just remove pieces of clothing without actually breaking.

The custom costumes still reduce the model quality of the characters.

Really? We haven't seen a single example of a standard character in custom equipment yet right? In previous games sure that would be the case. I assume you're talking about things like muscle details. But they may have changed that for this game.

Weren't SCV's 1P CAS pieces almost (or actually were) identical to that of actual 1P models?

SCIV's 2P CAS pieces were of a lesser quality, but I'm pretty sure SCV's weren't? I'm sure the quality in SCVI will be good too.

Not having actual 2P models can actually be a good thing, especially for CAS.

Aside from the 2P / Tira DLC hubub:

I like that damage numbers are showing up in some of the gameplay. I wonder if this will also be a hit aura you can turn on (like Tekken 7) so you can always see what your damage numbers are.

I'd make custom chars that are nothing but just that hit effect damage numbers aura added to them just to be able to see how much damage I'm being cheated by when the guts system doesn't kill someone for me and then they CE my ass.

It's good to hear she'll have a story even if it kind of makes it feel like she was meant to be in the base game but got cut later.

I wonder if all the DLC characters will get a Soul Chronicle story. If they're 5-6 battles each plus static art cutscenes in-between like it seems to be in the images we've seem then it'd be fairly reasonable I think. Getting a little single player content with each character would be nice extra incentive to buy them, generally I don't bother with dlc characters in other games since there's nothing to use them for except versus (and I don't know if I'd actually like them enough to use online so it's often not worth it).

character + their outfit as CAS parts + soul chronicle story + maybe a stage for each dlc character would be ideal, and probably would make fans a lot happier about the season pass being worth the price.

Seeing as we 100% know Cervates is in, I wonder how long it will take for them to announce him.

His is the last predictable addition. After they officially announce him things will get interesting and less predictable. I'm hoping for some surprises.

Yeah, he's such a given that i would barely even consider him a leak.

Lol, i bet namco was like "Oh shit, we leaked Cervantes during that interview... a fuck it who cares? Its Cervantes."

2:48 I wonder what battle comments are...

The only thing I don't like about the lack of P2 costumes is the fact that they explicitly said they would have them during that E3 interview.

No, they didn't. People just twisted the words around to make it fit what they assumed. He never explicitly mentioned 2P costumes. And what's more, he gave out a ton of misinformation and anyone that watched the whole interview would realize that they should take what he said with a grain of salt. And regardless, people should've understood that that was the Bamco brand manager, not someone on Project Soul at all.

I defend the decision, but there is not way in the 9th circle of hell they didn't consider Tira's popularity until late development.

I think Project Soul wanted to keep her SCIII & SCIV gameplay intact first especially when the Battle Director won EVO 2012 with her when certain people said she was trash after the patch.

It's always preferred to be like that, it's just never like that in 2018, sadly (well, in this day and age games just cost too much to produce to cost jsut 60$, but nobody would buy a 70-100$ game, so it is decided to make people pay "full cost" indirectly).
If you adjust SC2's $50 price tag in 2002 for inflation, it actually costs exactly $70 in 2018 :V

Of course I'm not sure people's average buying power has increased commensurately

But from Bamco's perspective, SCVI is selling for less, and is certainly costing them a ton more. So yeah, as you said, DLC is basically a necessity nowadays.

Did anyone notice that in the IGN interview, at about 4:40-4:50 she asks how is the game similar to Soulcalibur II and he says how the cast is the most similar. I wouldn't be too worried about Raphael and Cassandra now..

He also said that the events go through all of SCI and SCII. I'm trying so hard not to get my hopes up.
