Soul Calibur VI: General discussion

Only 11 stages in a fighting game from 2018??? You serious???? Injustice 2 had 12 stages and it was bad, such big series like SC and in making comeback installment only 11 stages??? WTF Even SC4 had like 18-20 stages, which isnt a lot in my opinion. This is bad, we'll be playing on the same stages again and aigain ;/
Can't believe people are making a big deal out of stages. There are more important things then stages right now. The only fighting games that I think more about stages are injustice and doa only do to the fact of destruction and interactive.

Quantity of stages isn't that big of a deal now that I think of it. Usually we have picked either random or the same 3 or 4 stages over and over. Much, much more importantly each character needs their own music theme.

If that was the case they would already have mentioned that Season Pass could include new stages too but they did not...
Every DLC character SHOULD come with his own stage + alternate costume IMO.
That would persuade everyone to pay for any DLC character just to get that extra content (even if the character is not a personal favorite).

To be fair, they're called character packs so they could include a story piece, a stage piece and the character. We've already established that communication on what is contained isn't very great, and if they are going to be including a stage it should be marketed as well. At the same time though, the last time they included purchasing characters in SCIV I believe when you bought one of the star wars characters you got a stage with them as well. So it has happened before, just something to be weary of though.

Going by that, could include all their gear as CaS pieces as well. Character packs could be awesome. *Crosses Fingers*

It is in the long run because repetitive uses of stages gets boring to see. Considering Esports is a thing people will be seeing Soul Calibur 6 matches time and time again and will just go "I've seen all this before" and tune off. Soul Calibur 6 needs to double it's stage count at minimum in the near future if it wants to succeed long into the future especially when it comes to the subject of season 2 content. If that means using old stage designs to save budget then so be it.

I might have said it better, but I blame my sleepiness for that. Of course more stages is better, but I wanted to say that I think having a music theme asigned to every character is more important than everyone getting a stage :)

You mean that garbage crap that Capcom pulls with their vs games that have now made their way into their main games. No thanks. Made sense with KoF games in the 90's (yearly releases, limited software space) but today it's just lacking.

Namco said the roster screen is not final, i hope the same goes for the stages and we get more.
So far we've seen all the stages from the stage select screen of the current tournament build, yet we've also seen Money Pit as a background to one of Ivy's story interactions with Voldo. Are they gonna fight in Money Pit or are they simply gonna have a dialogue there (Ivy: "You are ugly", Voldo: "Hhhhhhsshhh") only to immediately go fight somewhere else or even just split without fighting? I don't know, but there is hope.

For the most part I really like the palette swaps for the characters. Some of them harken back to iconic legacy costumes (Soph’s pale orange = SB Brunette!Soph, Xianghua’s iconic Black/Gold, Ivy’s red = SC1 Matador 2P, Blonde Maxi), while others have their colors inverted and still have them match their aesthetic (Grøh going black/purple to white/gold, still matches the dual colors on his gauntlets and his swords).

The artwork in this game is so breathtaking. I'm really glad they went this route over cutscenes.

Libra of Soul:
  • Considered to be a "behind the scene" mode focusing on "another soul"
  • You can choose the weapons, parts of costumes and fighting style of of any character (cf. infra), and modify your appearance at any time
  • There are cities on the map, where you can buy items and weapons
  • You can have random encounters while traveling on the map
  • The more levels, the stronger you get (and you can also equip stronger weapons, hints of either weapon exp. or weapon stats)
  • Fights with special "rules": weaker hero, stronger pushes,..
  • Created character from other players will appear in your campaign

Creation:
  • They talk about choosing your height "freely", maybe we will have a slider rather than 4 or 5 heights? We are only getting 5 heights (cf. official Soul website)
  • Same goes for muscles
  • Modification of each part like in SCV is still possible.
  • They talk about 370 parts (they say "types of parts" though)
  • Still different face paints, stickers (scars, emblems, etc.), still customizable
  • They talk about "Weapon creation", which is nothing but weapon customization, like in SCV (at least, that's only what they show)
  • Still extra parts like in SCV
  • Still different frames (serious or funny ones)
  • Get ready: WE CAN CHOOSE GERALT'S FIGHTING STYLE FOR OUR CaS!!!!

Man they really know how to keep the hype up. I pre-ordered immediately after reading this post.

I'm guessing this is probably online play, but I could be wrong. I'm excited to find out either way!

Does anyone how the counter aspect of RE works. I've yet to see any gameplay showing it off in fact the only time I think I saw it was the original reveal of the game.

The PAX app has Soul Calibur 6 listed for the PAX arena section on Sunday. I'd expect your announcement then, since that's center floor basically.

Maybe, but I kind of highly doubt we'll be getting anything without any big PS/Bamco reps there. It's more likely it's an exhibition vs Floe, who will be at PAX Sun/Mon and will help showcase the game.

Will there be any hidden characters this time - or characters that are only playable after progressing through various modes in various ways?
