Soul Calibur VI: General discussion

Still one thing has me baffled and it’s the lack of Yun-seong’s hairstyle in CaS. We’ve seen Rock’s but iirc the Spiky hair isn’t shown with the hair styles the main cast had in previous appearances like Cervantes’s hair. Not his new hairstyle, but his hair in CaS.

I think you put too much stock in the CaS items we've seen. There's no indication that the items we've seen is when everything is unlocked.

Well there’s also the lack of Short Untidy even though we’ve seen it. I’m guessing it’s supposed to be where Nightmare’s hair should be? But non-standard cast hairstyles generally haven’t been unlockable since IV.

Or he’s likely DLC. Still why would he be listed on the original leak? So was Tira (incl. Verge) but look how that turned out...

I don't know a lot about major arcana, but by name, this is how I see it.
Voldo- 0 The Fool
Ivy- 1 The Magician
Sophitia- 2 The High Priestess
Mi-Na- 3 The Empress
Cervantes- 4 The Emperor
Talim - 5 The Hierophant
Kilik and Xian- 6 The Lovers
Yoshimitsu- 7 The Chariot
Astaroth- 8 The Strength
Azwel- 9 The Hermit
Yoshitmitsu- 10 Wheel of Fortune
Groh- 11 Justice
Siegfried- 12 The Hanged Man
Nightmare- 13 Death
Tira- 14 The Temperance
Inferno- 15 The Devil
Geralt- 16 The Tower
Maxi- 17 The star
Raphael- 18 The Moon
Mitsurugi - 19 The Sun
Zasalamel- 20 The World
Taki- 21 Judgment

Good try but you missed the meanings of the Major Arcana by a lot on some of them xD.

It’s a bit of tedium to read up and get a decent idea of what each tarot card represents but I think I can take a crack at it:

Fool: Kilik
Magician: Grøh
High Priestess: Talim
Empress: Ivy
Emperor: Mitsurugi
Hierophant: Geralt
Lovers: Xianghua
Chariot: Astaroth
Strength: Seong Mi-na
Hermit: Voldo
Wheel of Fortune: Maxi
Justice: Sophitia
Hanged Man: Siegfried
Death: Zasalamel
Temperance: Raphael
Devil: Nightmare
Tower: Cervantes
Moon: Taki
Star: Tira
Sun: Yoshimitsu
Judgment: Inferno
World: Azwel

lol! Dynasty informing people about the game? His dead channel has 350k subs or something and he barely pulls thousands of views for Soul Calibur 6 videos.

And those videos are even clickbait. Posting the videos here almost isn't a sin because his views will remain stagnant as ever
At least it's some views. I'm not trying to defend the bullshit clickbait, but at least there is the possibility he may bring at least 1 new fan.

Oh those gaps in the main body are atrocious to look at...

I think that this is the worst part. I’m starting to be persuaded that there are no other characters to reveal (although I’m not taking the cards as conclusive proof as there are others missing...), but the two empty slots in the main body of the select screen make my OCD-brain itch badly. If there were two employ slots in a corner adjacent to each other then it wouldn’t be as bad.

Actually, the worst part is PS reacting to the backlash of a 20-slot screen by adding more slots, only for them to be empty...

My only gripe with the game is that the armor is falling off to a ridiculous extent. It leaves the characters looking awkwardly underdressed at the end of the fight. I don't know about you, but it feels less satisfying looking at a victory pose of a naked and barefoot character to me. I would prefer a more realistic approach to armor damage like in SC5 and 4.

God I hope not, screw guess characters man... just get the main stays back in.
I really couldn’t care less about 2B

Please Namco, Setsuka, Cassie, Amy, Hilde or Hwang for DLC.
Please no more guess characters.

One thing i've come to like about guests is they can help keep the roster fresh and new because they will not be returning. As you've pointed out, they cant even return all the regular mainstays but there is only one guest at the moment. If they keep introducing new characters, which they should because everyone wants to see that each new game, they wont be able to keep up with it. Perhaps we wouldnt be in this situation right now if SC3 used guests instead of 3 new characters.

But considering what the SC3 characters have contributed to the series i’d Have to disagree.

2 & 3 had a fantastic set of new characters each very different from each other and over the years have helped shaped the series to what it is.
If the game was common place like Tekken or Sf I wouldn’t mind so much but 5 years is a lot without seeing characters we know and love.

Groh will mostly likely return or he’ll meet the same fate as hilde (situational appearance) either way one of the biggest mistakes SCV made was character cuts.
Give the people what they want, a return to form before we start seasonal decorations.

I don’t hate 2B but Soul Calibur comes first imo.

i'm assuming the point of guest characters is to attract that specific target audience of the respective character.

Isn't SC4 the most they sold out of the others? I'm pretty sure it is because of the guest characters that attracted that specific audience and had people like "I can play Darth Vader!" or "I can play Yoda!". (Though imo the star wars characters felt really out of place but hey the game sold well!)

So seeing Geralt (who came from a well polished and sold game) is a smart move and if they add 2B which a lot of people and fan base has been asking for a while now will only improve sales.

Idk as of late we are seeing guest characters/crossovers becoming more frequent. Instead of focusing on one audience why not bring them all together? I would love to see the sales for BBCT in a month or so.

Just a thought. It would be a VERY smart move to announce 2B as the next guest character during TGS. If not EVO Japan or the next big gaming event.

We absolutely need an option to toggle on/off armors break.

I see what you’re saying and I guess it wouldn’t hurt but it’s the time between titles and the fact that It’s a gamble.
If it doesn’t work we won’t see another SC title or missing vets and if does work, we might.

It doesn’t look very good as far as missing vets are concerned, maybe I’m playing it too safe but I can’t help but feel the series has lost out on a lot of opportunities as it is.

I guess you have to look at from PS point of view and the factors that come into play. Their on a tight budget, last SC5 didn't do so well and the community was nigh dead, and the higher ups really don't really want to invest anymore in the game so this is the end all be all for the franchise.

So would it make sense to bring back a character (Hwang) who hasn't been seen since 2005? Or introduce a very popular guest character that is well know and loved and possibly attract more revenue to further their plans for the game?

Either way its a gamble however you look at it. Just got to take the one that looks more likely to get you the money. =)

Taki blocking every Weapon with her bare forearms for the win.
But that's not unrealistic, it's just how Ninja skills work xD
