Soul Calibur VI: General discussion

We all know it's not Hwang, Cassandra (from future old timeline) or Inferno, obviously Azwel's true rival is...

a new female aztec warrior that uses a Macuahuitl and shield could be a good reason why Cass and Rock (and even Lizardman?) are not in base. Just saying. AND could be a good foil to Azwel, at least as a new character.

Grøh and Taki are unfortunately misrepresented on the alignment scale on the character select screen, only being placed where they are because they happen to be the rivals of the person right across from them.
Mina is not a rival of Voldo.
Yoshi is not a rival of Cerv.
Groh and Taki are not evil despite being on the right.
Too much "breaks from the rule" to not break it once again.

It was said in the interview that she was scrapped early on. You hold into that idea too much.
We already have the final roster.

Arguing on this position I think a more apt assessment of the placement would be "association with" not good/evil or rivals
the people toward the left are associated more with soul calibur, the people toward the right more soul edge, and the people in the middle would be both. The story this time around could be different too so we can't go off of what is already established lore wise.

Inferno I believe would be center though. I firmly believe the top left is going to be an eyesore DLC spot or best case scenario another character that is unrevealed.

or maybe this games inferno was soul calibur ALL ALONG! BIG TWIST!

@SomeRandomHuman -- The latest trailer is actually what convinces me that Hwang and Lizardman (or two other characters, but Hwang and Lizardman make the most sense) are in, more than anything else that has come before. The reveal that there are 149 weapons, and the math works out such that there would be 21 characters with 7 weapons (which we have 19 so far, including Cervantes and Raphael) and 1 character with 2 weapons (Geralt).

couldn't one of those characters be Tira?

so then how many weapons would hwang or lizardman have?

Tira was supposed to be on the main roster so it makes sense for her 7 to be included

I like the idea and I do think there's more than Raph in base roster, but it's possible some characters have more or less than 7 (besides Geralt), and though it's unlikely, they could consider something like Sophitia's shield as a separate weapon.

SC site has been updated (again) with info about Cervantes, as well as its announcements trailer and has been confirming he will be playable on TGS2018.
  • 有料DLC1弾「ティラ」は除く=Tira is excluded :sc3tir1:
Surely Raphael will be announced before TGS or during TGS. This is starting to sound like this is the final (or near final) build of the game they'll be showing off at TGS.

7 apiece, just like everyone else.

@LisaK -- Even if there are duplicates like with Pyrrha and Pyrrha Omega, I doubt the gallery is going to make distinctions. They have listed 1P/2P weapons as different entries before, for example, with the exact same text on both.

@fjaoaoaoao -- It's very not likely that we'll have characters with different numbers of weapons. Not counting the unobtainable extra weapons from SoulCalibur V, everyone in SoulCalibur V had 8 weapons, except for Dampierre and Ezio, who had 2, because they only had 1P/2P. It looks like the standard for SoulCalibur VI is 7 weapons, so everyone will have 7, except for whoever only has 2, which it makes sense for Geralt. There's no precedent for main characters having different numbers of weapons in any game in the series.

Wasn't there modes inside modes on a earlier build of the menu. Hopefully theres more cause havent seen time attack, team or survival. Hopefully in arcade you get a option to time and normal. Vs would have player vs player, player vs cpu, team, survival. If not add vial patch like SFV.

One where presumed "dark skinned female barberian" was mentioned in.

I don't think that Mitsu is more associated with SC than SE and the same goes for Taki. If I remember correctly in SCIII every character had either SC or SE version of their weapon and Mitsu certainly had SE one (not sure about Taki, but I think her was SC). Also this combines well with his battle-hungry berserk nature. So this rule is kinda broken too.

Characters that are the most closely related to SC or SE could have such versions of their weapon or something, or Edge Master sets could be unlockable in the game. Which would fill in the places.
Azwel and Geralt could actually have full proper sets of 7 weapons.
When making a Inferno(mimic) style CaS there could be an option to choose between SE/SC/EdgeMaster sets of weapons. Etc.
There is a lot of possibilities that could explain this really.

The combination of that filling the two slots in the inside 5x5 square would give us 21 characters + Geralt with the weapon count is what makes me believe. It's not any one thing that goes towards my predictions. I don't just kneejerk into whatever new information comes out. I put a lot of thought and consideration into my speculation, and it's evolved over time with new information. If Inferno is the unlockable mimic, then Edge Master would be superfluous, and I don't see them adding multiple mimics again after the backlash they received from SoulCalibur V, so I can't see that happening. Inferno using Soul Calibur weapons wouldn't make any sense, as it would be like Elysium using Soul Edge weapons, so that's illogical. We saw Ivy's 7 weapons, and she lacked an Edge Master weapon and she also lacked a joke weapon, so it's safe to assume neither of those things are going to be included. I accomodated that Azwel would have a full set of 7 like everyone else. From several angles, it only makes sense that we have two more characters to be revealed, after Cervantes and Raphael. We also have teases and story hooks for Lizardman and Hwang, and we have one slot on Soul Edge side for Lizardman and one slot on Soul Calibur side for Hwang. Neither of those characters would sell well as DLC, not like Cassandra or Setsuka.

Taki did forge her sword with soul edge. Maybe in the new timeline it's corrupting her? Also that implies a strong association with soul edge and mitsurugis bio doesn't even mention soul edge or soul calibur.

like i said, it's a new story, we can't go off of lore we knew before.

I meant for mimic CaS characters only. With Inferno himself being uncustomizable.

They could be unlockable after completing Chronicles/Libra or something.

This part I do fully agree with. It makes sense for them to be in the game (if they are), it just doesn't seem very likely at this point.

You're right. Then it seems like roster is indeed divided by SC/SE association and Infero's placement in the center is the most logical one.
Or in the lower right corner behind random if there actually are Aeon and Hwang in the base.
