Soul Calibur VI: General discussion

Has anyone got a copy of the e3 build so I can come round to play it?

News of this event comes a bit late!? Do we know if there will be any good players present?

didn't they already confirm the new build would be playable? something like "all revealed characters are playable"

Very amusing, but they've already announced that the versions at TGS will have all revealed characters playable, except for Tira.

I know that game will be a new build , just was being silly. June was like so long ago and we still see build at places,

I do think it could benefit from more female characters new or old... but i think it could benefit from new or old characters regardless

but a problem though?

would it be a problem if the roster was mostly women with two new female characters and a female guest? not for me at least, so why should it be the other way.

Lets not pretend things work equally both ways. People are downright obsessed over their waifus. SNK Heroines, Skullgirls, (i'm sure there are more examples i dont know about). That all is a thing. Its somethin cute to look at while trashing the competition. Two birds, one stone.

a double standard is still a double standard regardless of how it's phrased.

If you're placing that much emphasis on story, you should probably realize the remaining popular females dont carry a lot of story relevance.
In a game where they're making up two brand new characters to throw into the story, and pulling two characters into the story that had zero plot at this time, you're telling me they can't, I dunno add some more to the characters, or have made either of the BRAND NEW characters female with the understanding the game was already male heavy? I'd like to the think the writer's had the creative talent to do this. I dunno though, maybe not. You seem to find the idea that they might silly enough to make a statement requiring them to have that lack of talent.

Is why it's best to just be as even as possible while still maintaining a good story. Isn't the whole idea to reach as many people as possible?
Sure
But it's the devs game, their work, their art, their story, their vision. Who are we to say what is a problem for them to or not to include? We can not like it, we can think their game is shit, we can think their story is shit, their writing is shit, or their characters are shit... but a problem it is not. The definition of a problem is something unwanted or harmful that needs to be dealt with. If it's not a problem to have an all/majority female cast then it's not a problem to have an all/majority male cast.

Does it have the chance to hurt sales with some people? If so, that's a problem. Not all problems can be solved without creating other problems, and some problems when solved by necessity create the opposite problem. I'm saying it's a problem for me, as it's one of the few aspects of the game I personally dislike. I, however, can use CaS to solve my problem, so it's not a very big problem for me so long as the styles aren't overwhelmingly masculine in demeanor to make a woman using it look silly.

Cassandra and Amy are both pretty important to the stories of Sophitia and Raphael. Setsuka is a bit more outlier, since her story is really all about her getting revenge and coming to terms with it, so it indirectly involves Mitsurugi, but is mostly personal, but to say the others aren't important isn't true.
It's also worth noting that in SoulCalibur IV, Siegfried's ending leaves him dead, while Hilde's ending leaves him alive, so it could be interpreted that it was Hilde's influence that gave Siegfried the desire to continue living on to the next generation.

I understand that, and I empathize, I play mostly female characters in games. I just have an issue with the way people are phrasing it. As if the devs must create the game specifically for them or cater to their desire specifically. I hate the idea that some people seem to have that devs or any creator for that matter can't make what they want to make and that 'it should include what I want it to include'.

CaS Trailer.png

The CaS slot looks to have ordered the characters in a 4x4 layout, looking at the scrollbar's length seems to indicate that it may have 1 more row of characters created, leading to having a total of 20 CaC styles.

The only characters that are NOT in the screenshot above are Groh, Geralt, Azwel, and Zasalamel, and those may be the styles for CaC, unless Azwel isn't one of them

Now onto the leaked character select
Leaked CSS SC6.png

If CaC really does have 20 styles, then the remaining 4 slots are probably characters that cannot be used as CaC styles, unless the 2 slots are for DLC, I highly doubt that would be the case however, since Tira is playable day one, I don't think that DLC 3 (being the first post-launch DLC character) would take a slot in the CSS, as they would probably have to be manually added to the character select (kinda like Tekken 7 Season 1)

Also they don't have to reveal every character before release, SC5 did not reveal Alpha Patrokalos, Phyrra Omega, and Elisyum before the game released.

Inferno would probably not be revealed before the game has released, so if TGS reveals Raphael + 1 other character, then 3 would be remained unrevealed until the game releases probably.
