Zasalamel was an early reveal and is important in Libra of Soul, he's very clearly always been a base game character.

Prior to the game's announcement he was rumored to be DLC. Hell one of the first leaks of the game said as much. It is quite likely he got completed quicker than another character or they realized that they could use him as the narrator for Libra and rushed his development. It's also possible they realized that releasing a character with a unique weapon would be better than another sword user (cassandra, Hwang/Yun-Seong, Lizardman).

Or there's the actual situation where Zas was base game from the start and the 'leaker' was just making things up for attention like most supposed leakers.

Plus if Bamco is being truthful with Tira and development on her started post-announcement due to how much the fans requested her, most likely the other DLCs will be the same way (and not characters cut from the base game).

Considering this leak came from Vergeben who has been right pretty much with everything he's mentioned...yeah I'm sure he was making it up and definitely doesn't have a source.

Right.. There's 2 ways to look at this:


The Good:
-The 2 cut characters get added to the game as launch dlc(or asap) and are not part of the season pass.
-Would mean a healthy start roster for the game (23 + 4 DLC)

The Bad:
-The characters cut from the base roster will appear in the season pass (which also has a confirmed(?) guest character) meaning there would be only room for the 2 cut characters.
-Popular characters such as Setsuka, Cassandra etc will not make it to the game (at least not until a possible 2nd season pass)

So I don't think we'll get Lizardman. Considering there is already a lizardman race I think it would be much more likely that we receive Aeon instead.

I mean... I don't think anyone was expecting Soul Calibur II's random bonus Lizardman to be the official lizardman rep. Other than that, it's always been Aeon. He just wasn't called as such by the announcer until V.

If you're suggesting that he'll receive the axes, I don't see how the presence of the lizardman race holds weight in that. As it stands, the only sword and shield style in the game is Sophitia's very human and very effeminate moveset.

Okubo could just be referring to the player as the dancing partner, hinting at people getting to play as him soon.

I'd love for it to be a hint at Amy though, she always seems to do pretty well in official polls and I'm sure I remembering Okubo saying there's multiple quite young characters in an interview early on so it's a possibility. Would maybe cause a bit of backlash putting Amy in the base game but having Tira be DLC though (especially if they left out Cassandra).

I feel so butthurt that Hwang, Lizardman, and some randomass guest are the remaining DLCs. -______-
But I am also happy for people who wanted them back that it looks like they're getting the characters they wanted!
Mixed feels are always so tough to deal with.

Nah I'm not even remotely holding my breath. Hope only brings disappointment... I'm happy she got a mention in his story so at least she still exists in this timeline and like others have speculated she will probably appear in his Chronicle via the pretty art cutscenes which is definitely better than nothing (if a little teasing too...)

I just hope that if they put Amy in the game, they don't make her look too old. Talim's ok for the most part (aside from that underboob...) but Tira almost looks the same age she did in SCV which is just weird 'cause she's meant to be a kid too :S

The DLC thing is sad news for sure but I'm glad we're still getting Hwang. Lizzie on the other hand... I feel like as long as Lizardman is a CAS option and Sophitia's fighting style is selectable, we really don't NEED Lizardman in the game, especially if he's taking up a DLC slot now too when we already have lizards in the game. It just feels like wasted potential of a slot, and clearly there are more popular characters like Setsuka and Cassandra in demand, which would also even out the male/female ratio a little.

Overall I'm happy with the quality of the base roster and can only hope that we get a lot of DLC after the first season. I'm honestly more bothered by the lack of stages at this point. I'm already bored of the selection we have and that's before the game even comes out :/

I'm not sure what to think of this leak. If all leaks would have been true, we wouldn't have Raphael or seung mina, zas would be DLC and Tira would be base roster...

At the least I guess we can be sure that Aeon and Hwang/Yun seoung are coming to scVI one way or another...

Which people who play the game offline wouldn't get, hence many people would have a character with a bunch of placeholders in their full price retail game. It's one thing going gold with bugs and fixing them later but not finishing a characters moveset isn't something they'd just leave for a patch.

It does seem likely that it was IGN's build, we would've seen it already if it was only Talim and Voldo (plus there's them accidentally showing Cervantes after the gamescom Libra/CaS trailer, so they definitely had Cervantes at least).

Tony Hawk Pro Skater 4 practically launched an exe on a disc and had you download the whole game in the day one patch. Completing the game after going gold is not unheard of at all.

In regards to Verg saying the Melbourne incident was the final build i dont think thats the case. I'm pretty sure that build has been around since june/july back when talim was revealed. We only got a little bit of footage back then of talim and voldo that was from IGN and edited to only show the matches and no menus. If they had a build with those characters and not cerv/raph we would have seen it by now, but tournies are still using the E3 build. Regardless we will see what happens in a few days.

This build was given to Nvidea when E3 happened.
