Soul Calibur VI: General discussion

What I'm taking from that is:

- Is Libra of Soul canon? He says it takes place at the same time as Chronicle of Soul and will overlap, just being told from a different perspective (that of your own character)

- You can't use your Libra of Soul character in any other mode, only your CaS character can be used in other modes.

- It's going to have less equipment options in creation because of the races

- They're still working on the DLC customisation packs, so hopefully they'll be worth it. However, he's not revealing much about the packs.

do we know in CAS if it's possible to switch "hand dominance" for the weapon style?

one thing I don't like about Raphael's style, for CAS purpose, is that he's left handed and I prefer my characters to be right hand dominance.

It’d be difficult switching dominant hands in a fighter. Have to do different motion sets.

Also I’m suspicious about the lack of unlockable CaS items beyond the default set. The Kittymeow is generally a late unlock.

I’m assuming the DLC could be a set of headgear/masks which are surprisingly lacking or include sets of armor.

I just saw myself appearing in someone else's stream. That was dirty work.

To anyone I have beaten playing cheap (aka most of the time): please accept my apologies. Chaining the same 3 Grøh's combos is all I can do atm (and sometimes input lags made me repeat the same move twice).

Having less customization options for CaS than SCV isn't a good trade-off for races, which largely amount to old "skins" with little to not customization in some cases. Of bigger note is the creation story of the swords, considering SCIV already covered that. Libra of Souls also sounds like a canon "secret" history happening behind the scenes, but won't have too big an impact due to branching questlines and the like.

A very informative interview, overall.

I want to know if anyone else playing as Talim or against her have been rung out or rung her out because I swear I've heard her say but I can fly while she's falling.

I'm not sure I'm too happy about losing more CaS options in exchange for these races... I mean it woulda been better if they had allowed us to make certain CaS parts unbreable and allow a few more extra pieces and possibly the ability to add patterns to flesh to. Would better allow a broader creation of races than these exceedingly limited ones.

What I noticed is he said there will be less customization pieces than SCV.

That's not sounding too good tbh, I'm gonna look at some videos and count everything I can to get an idea of what we might have to expect.

Yeah that's the saddest news regarding CaS in this interview.

To quote for people not willing to read:

How does the character customization in general compare to previous SoulCalibur games?

Actually, there will be fewer items compared to SoulCalibur V, but what's new is the ability to choose the race of your character. First, you select your race, then define your look, and then you get into traditional SoulCalibur character creation.

This is exactly what i was afraid of. Pointless race selection garbage at the expense of clothing and equipment options.

No practice feels like the arcade days where just enter in the matches without having idea how the game plays really.

Far less likely to run into assholes when you're standing right next to them though, of course i was still a kid during most of that time. Back when arcades were a still a thing in every shopping mall and what not.

I'll take the races over more CaS parts. The race system has proven to be the greatest improvement to CaS. Even with unbreakable equipment, you wouldn't have been able to make half of these races. With the race system, you can make a proper Elf, a convincing vampire through the malfested race, as well as your own Lizardman.

Having features such as elf ears and wings tied to the model is very helpful, considering that they decided to keep equipment destruction.

That isnt an improvement.

Eh... kind of. The elves, fallen angels, mummies, and skeletons were all possible to make in SCV, though some did consist of breakable parts. Some of the races like the shapeshifter and colossus are just different skin textures/shaders. Malefic and Darksider too, but those also come with unchangeable heads (that hail from Broken Destiny, of all games).

Making the parts unbreakable is useful, but it should have been a systemwide option, not something limited to a handful of race specific accessories.
