SC Controversial Topics and General Shitposting Thread

I mean I think Talim looks way better now than before and that's probably what they wanted, but i can see why especially with the current political climate people would be upset by the change.

Talim is a black girl in 2-3-4 games
and she looks pale in 6:View attachment 51608i dont understand why they mischaracterized the character
Talim in past games:

Not sure if serious or trolling, but Talim never looked anywhere near like a black girl. She looks more like a Latina if one doesn't know what Filipinos are. Which, I will admit I thought she was. Black? Still light skinned to be black.

I think Talim looks fine, she still looks as olive-skinned as ever. It's just that the newer games post-III have started skewing pale for their models anyway, plus advancements in lighting gave characters a different hue depending on which stage they're on. Notably that stage is a tundra, hence the pale blue on her skin.

Talim's Filipino, but yes she is notably lighter than she used to be, which I'm guessing is what was meant. Zasalamel is also quite a bit lighter than he was before. A questionable decision tbh.
"Questionable decision" huh? Clearly it's white washing from the Asian devs, they must hate those darkies...

I mean why else would they purposely decide to draw a black man and purposefully decide to make him lighter in-game?

Can't be anything else like a lighting engine thing or whatever... Clearly a distinct decision they made cause they just fuckin hate black people.

Yeah. Questionable. That's all I said though. As well as all I meant. Not accusing them of anything, I just thought it was weird.
You don't need to be all passive aggressive and put words in my mouth.

Well I was obviously being facetious, plus it's the shit posting thread so I thought I'd have some fun with it.

Just usually when people say stuff like that they tend to be implying something.

Oh lmao. Sorry about the defensiveness then. I've just been met with that same kind of response from people who were being genuinely serious about it, so I just figured this was another one of those situations.

Seriously though I don't think it was an active decision they made, I think it might just be lighting shenanigans

Asshole confession: I like dancing at the start of a round with Voldo.

Almost want to make a room with just him and CaSes with his style dancing.

Fact: Voldo is easily one of the coolest characters on the roster.
...but his coolness is very distinct and particular. The general point of him can be summed up as "I'm a contortionist with very unorthodox movements than can not be understood or predicted. I win my fights on this basis." This is true both thematically and literally.

He is so fuckin cool but... arrgh i'm just not always in the mood for that sort of thing you know? Sometimes i just need to beat the hell out of an opponent in a more straightforward fashion. Add to the fact his movelist tends to be much larger and more complicated than most others' which means investing more time and effort. I dont know, maybe his combos and setups will be enough to entice me to actually main him this time, i'll get him in the lab and see whats what this time around.

I wonder what went into the concept of Voldo himself.

Pure conjecture just by looking at him without actually checking sources... his general concept is using sensory deprivation and restraint as an extreme form of training to make him a more efficient killer. Example is if could only move around a certain may, eventually he would then be capable of things like that crawl stance and what-not.

It is obvious they were shooting for the BDSM theme for both him and Ivy but i think that is only for players to losely associate the characters around those concepts not so much in a literal sense with the story.

To me he seems based off of Gollum being obsessed with a certain treasure combined with being delusional.

For an older man living in a cave and being blind and mute, you gotta admire how fit he looks.

It just frustrated me way back that I didn’t get what the hell his deal was.

So I decided to have a go at answering the Zasalamel question. These are the facts.

So with this in mind you can go and investigate the facial features and skin colour of the ethnicities around that region today but you might be surprised that if going off today's ethnic groups in that region you will actually realize that Zasalamel has in effect been blackwashed. Having looked into the actual ancient Sumerians to see what they look like the possibilities are quite wide as there are depictions of them with blue eyes and even blonde hair has been sampled from the mummies inside sarcofogus' from that region. Personally I'm cool with Zas having Sub Saharan facial features for who is technically supposed to look Arab, it's gives off this mystery that he's from a ethnicity that has long been lost to time, makes him more exotic.

Oddly enough this implies talim should be darker like her SC 2 and 3 counterpart, seems she's more based on modern Filipino skin color for 6

That's much harder for me to answer at this point considering South East Asia has been heavily colonized by many different nations from around the world for well over a millenia. I mean considering that region contains the biggest demographic of Muslims in the world should give you an idea what the ethnic demographic mostly represents just like North America and Latin America. With the middle east it's basically the cradle of civilization so there's a very long history without massive movement of people or breeding of ethnic tribes, which means big divergences of ethnic differences are more contained.

EDIT:

Take this for example of some of the drawings from the Philippines region pre colonial times.

This is a drawing of Visayan Royalty.

And if you have a look in the link you will see other tribes.
