Soul Calibur VI: General discussion

Bingo!

There’s a quiet storm on Twitter at the moment because a lot of would be competitive players don’t feel welcome by the SC competitive scene.

From my observation I don’t think it’s exactly that, there are a few players that come off as univiting based on there “drama levels” or opinionated stance on the game.

But the biggest crime is lack of engagement.
The only time I see OG players is if someone links a twitch stream of a tournament or team spooky’s weekly uploads which for some reason in becoming inconsistent with SC uploads.

YouTube needs more of a presence but I feel the community’s casual and competitive scenes can be really opinionated to the point it shoots itself in the foot.

Seriously the only regular YouTubers that frequent content for SC is spooky, scallywag and Dynasty (as controversial as the last one is)

Aris’ YouTube model is what would benefit us.
He was on like what 30k subs when Tekken 7 released on console.
And through is legacy knowledge videos and character breakdowns (which is how I and thounds of others on YT found him) has helped him to surpass 150k.
What’s helpful to understand is the views and engagement on Tekken related content on not just Aris’ channel but other streamers like him too.

Legacy knowledge and character breakdowns i.e help on worst match ups, identifying good match ups and anti guides.

For instance I still don’t know the conditions for a “flash clash” some times I think it’s because me and my opponent hit at the same time but others I get the same effect while my opponent can follow through with an attack.

And can just Guard (when your character flashes white when blocking) really nullify stamina damage?!!

Like why are Tekken players telling me this?
There's a nice description of move levels and clashes at the top in the latest patch notes:
Edit:
Oh i read again and it's not very complete lol.

*If two clashing moves are equal, you are +/-0.

*A vertical attack counts as one level higher than a horizontal one.

*If one move is two levels higher it crushes the other move and hits.

*If one move is one level higher it clashes favorably, the opponent is repelled and stunned, and you may get a free attack in, but that also depends on the recovery of your clashing move.

I don't know the exact general "repel stun" frame advantage you have to subtract your recovery from, sorry.

*Kick attacks and airborne attacks can not clash with anything, they will trade.

I hope this helps, just ask if you have questions.

But...Dynasty’s untrustworthy and his content is misleading. Don’t see a reason to include him with the other guys up there.

I remember debates and arguments about characters from a while back, particularly around the time 2B was announced. I see people who were all about character inclusion at the time who basically had the opinion that we all need to accept characters we dont like and understand the game isnt going to cater specifically to any person's personal desires. Rather than just be happy their favorite fembot made the roster, they've instead decided to go on the offensive and question other possible characters they dont like making the roster.

I agree but it’s exposure to a very general audience something that SC isn’t benefiting from.
SC content is so chopped up atm some videos are dedicated to creating characters from different franchises.
Some videos have high level play.
And little are about technical knowledge.

Credit to Hayate and scallywag for putting out technical content they may not realise how much but they help out a LOT.

Character specialist as well.
As a Sophie main I was stuck at E2 for a while until I subbed to Kuri-Kuri-Nyawu on YouTube now about to confidently reach C5 in the next few matches.
Even watching Ramon on weekly Spooky videos has helped polished my Sophie.

But we need more great players to be at least visible.

Thanks @FleshMasher for the break down! :)

Is there any Youtube channels dedicated to the Soulcalibur franchise? I'm asking because I don't give a damn about Tekken, Street Fighter, Samurai Showdown or any other fighting game.

Not other than the actual professionals, as far as I'm aware. Kuri Kuri Nyawu seems to do mostly SC, as does Amy lionheart. While Kayane and Hayate do SC, both do other fighting games, such as DOA.
Scallywag and Spooky seem to frequent SC, as does Maximilian Dood. Soul and Sectus' channels do a lot of SC it seems. The channels are Soul070 and Fluffy Quack.

Hope this helps

good matches from pros

The main issue with SC6 and competitive is that it doesn't have a proper Rank mode with all those character creations and edit.

Those who think it's not big deal and doesn't affect much i'll ask you one simple question, do you think that T7 and SFV would be big in competitive in it has character creation and edit in Rank mode? I personally don't think so.

Ittarra Oda also does plenty of SC videos too.

Always gotta bring it back to the 2B fans with generalisations and blame them for everything huh

I think so. Online rank mode in a fighting game is pretty much bullshit anyway, the unavoidable lag that all games have change the gameplay much more than any minor hitbox issues from CaS. Ranked mode has nothing at all with those other games being big in competitive.
Personally I hope for a working casual mode to play CaS there, but unless/until that happens I'll be playing CaS in ranked.
