Soul Calibur VI: General discussion

Also, Hwang's name literally means "yellow" or "gold". So no, yellow actually means something. Again, I think the colors make for great foreshadowing, and using gray instead of white, makes it even better.

Yellow = Hwang (his name literally means yellow)
Red = Haohmaru (revealed plus he has prominent red in his design)
Pink = Setsuka (heavily based on the color pink)
Gray = ???

I've even said it before, if the colors don't mean anything, then Yellow, Red, Pink and Gray are super random colors to use.

Anyways, again, this idea that "they won't do newcomers as DLC!" is rooted in a completely fictitious rule that DLC characters can't be newcomers, one that has no basis in reality given several games have had DLC newcomers including just recently Leroy Smith in Tekken 7.

Sadly I have to agree with the notion that one of them could be a new character.
Assuming that interview is as accurate as can be with Okubo then its probably a new character. That or perhaps one of the characters hasn't even been decided yet explaining the long delay?
He could simply be trolling too.

I really wish they'd avoid new characters till Season 3 as many of us still haven't got everyone we love I imagine and we've got a guest character wasting a slot for us.
I'm all on board for a new character, and I'm personally hyped at the prospect of it being Lucius. But I'll gladly wait so long as we get the oldies back in, they have all the time in the world to fit in newcomers so I'm hoping they consider delaying the new character and get someone old in again.

That being said, "BREAD" better make it soon.
Nevermind the fact that the men on the roster clearly aren't designed with the intention of being sexualised in comparison to the women. Kinda funny that all these people hating on MK11's "SJW unequal" designs don't care to target SCVI for this reason instead...wonder why that is. Oh, it's a mystery. Quite impossible to figure out, really.

I honestly think the sexy female character designs are a case of the time period and the team likes it rather than outright appeal.
Well, maybe except Cassandra. She seems like she was literally made as a direct response to her being an ongoing joke here.

I think literally every man on the roster was designed with sex appeal in mind, I'd say it become a thing since SC5.
Its harder to get male sex appeal across since men rely more in muscles etc. With the girls we have had the breasts and other parts done for years now. Muscles just need more detail in general, and SC6 hasn't taken advantage of being able to do more with their models so instead the men just come off as lacking depth (literally) and being paper like, the sex appeal is just kinda is lost there.
That and honestly the differences between the male bodies feels really negligible. At least with the girls we have notably varying thighs, breasts etc etc.
With the guys it literally feels like paper with texture differences. Not that they can't be attractive, I just think I lot of the impact is lost with their current lack of detail thus its harder and less worth putting it out there in some instances.

I'm all for them doing more for the guys and I'd actually like them to keep at it with both personally and occasionally having more clothed designs and such. If we got a true enhancement for the next game visually with the models I genuinely think it will do wonders for the male characters, in DOA6 it was far more noticeable that the males got enhancements than the females if you ask me.
I never once glanced at Kasumi's breasts imaging how much rounder they were from the last game, I did look at literally every guy and see how much depth was put into their bodies vs what was there last time.

Cool, there's like 5-6 people on an isolated forum who agree with this idea.

Literally nothing on the mass scale.

Also, Rusted, I just looked more into this and I'd say this argument actually works against you:

Furthermore, just about everyone is agreed that Setsuka is likely to be in this season pass. More than enough sexiness considering the first season pass was all female, including literal sex object 2B, and an increasingly buxomized Cassandra. Indeed, that season pass got plenty of people moaning about the "waifu" character of the first season--which personally I view as the equally unfounded inverse of your own problematically extreme view on the matter, but at a minimum it establishes that female characters are not universally embraced over male ones. Not that any reasonable person should have thought as much, given every Soulcalibur game has more male than female characters.
So in other words, what I'm arguing has precedence in what PS has been doing for DLC all along?

I mean, they used those characters as DLC because they knew they had appeal and would sell. They were right, seeing as how they got us S2. "Plenty of people moaning" about it? You mean, a tiny vocal minority versus how many people loved it?

Speaking of DOA, my sister and I jokingly call Hayabusa butt man since it’s the first thing we noticed about him in the game.

The men were all significantly perked for DOA6, I had this same reaction pretty much when viewing Eliots "deluxe" outfit in the wardrobe.
I do think though, its silly things like this that can go a long way for a male character!

You know what gets me in this debate is that there's a push to stop the return of legacy characters. I personally find that quite selfish especially if you have your main already in the game. It's already bad enough having to wait patently for the chance of it to happen and now that's looking a reality there are those who want to crush those chances. Not cool.

If it depended from SC fans this game would be a date simulator, not a fighting game..

This is why I hope for a season three because of season two not being the full lineup of six, only three, since we only needed six to have literally every character from SoulBlade to SoulCalibur III. That's the dream. If season three doesn't get a guest, then there is room for one "newcomer" (even if it's an existing lore character, not an entirely new character), while still allowing everyone in. We're so close, just needing Li Long, Aeon, Rock, Hwang, Yun-seong, and Setsuka. We can get three of them in season two, and then the other three in season three, and still have room for one more.

This would be perfect.

If season 3 ignored guests it could be very satisfying.
Judging by Tekken 7, maybe their season 3 wont have guests? The guest promotion is usually pretty in your face and they didn't do it like that this time.
Maybe SC6 will get the same treatment?

Though I suppose its a bit early of me to assume this of Tekken, but I'm pretty hopeful.

I'm just eternally grateful I got Amy as early as I did, its mainly why I hope everyone gets theirs first before newcomers. I'm still waiting on Hwang of course, but I hope everyone gets theirs.
Amy made me realize how much a game can change for you when you have your main back.

Oh yeah, that leak from a while back is another thing. We can't really refer to it now to the same extent, because it was immediately proven to not be accurate of the final product. It's not six returning characters as indicated, but four DLC characters, one of which is a guest that was in no way hinted at.

It was most likely at the time they were in the very early planning stages of S2 and were considering anything. Once they boiled it down to who they think would be best, we got the four we have now. As you know, I believe is two returnees, a guest and a newcomer. Remember, we weren't meant to see it, and it wasn't supposed to be any sort of "foreshadowing", just leftovers from some planning stage we never got to see. This shit happens all the time, that's how development goes.

So please, stop trying to think about what you want (all legacies), and objectively look at it from their POV. They have to make DLC sell, they have to make it enticing, they also have to mind the budget, and they may want to include stuff they couldn't include at first. These all things we have to consider when thinking about Project Soul.

My point above holds true. This is an isolated forum that in no way speaks for the fanbase at large. They made the game to be as appealing to as wide an audience as possible, and I remember Okubo stating that was a design philosophy of his. A few people on a small website really doesn't mean anything.

we weren't meant to see it
We were absolutely meant to see it. They saw that we saw Cassandra and Amy, and put the information in there on purpose, knowing it would be seen and speculated upon. It's then very likely that they analyzed the speculation to gauge interest of who would sell, and that's what became season two. They used the cheeky codenames as a way to get us to guess and figure out who they were, first off, to promote discussion, and then once everyone (or mostly everyone, since the jury's still out on YELL) was puzzled out, then discussion blossomed from there as to who people really do want back. Based on that, not just here, but around on other sites as well, then the top three would likely be Hwang, Setsuka, and Hilde. But this is assuming that Hilde can be YELL, instead of it being Li Long, and if that's true, then the third slot becomes a toss-up between Aeon and Rock. It could be a new character, yes, but that remains purely speculatory. Also, the guest character could have been planned or not planned, no real way to know that. Some entertained the idea that STAR was for "guest star", but I still say that the best call on that one was Yun-seong.

You really think that?
