Hardest game ever

I would say Fire Emblem 5, capturing enemies is retarded, and the enemies were way over leveled. Either that or DMC3(orignal version)'s Dante Must Die mode when you first try it.

easily the three hardest game in exsistence were ikaruga for the gamecube, diehard for the nes and XenoGears for the ps1 especially xenogears, just because u fought a boss and the first move she does is take all characters HP to 1.

Then if u die u gotta watch a 5 minutecutscene before u can fight her again cause u couldnt skip it.

Everything else pales in comparisson.

oh Yeah honorable mention to legend of legaia ps1 i finished it but, i heardhorror stories from friends that couldnt get past the first boss.lol

Which boss was that because I don't remember it. Xenogears was awesome, but it wasn't hard by any means.

I Want To Be The Guy is infuriating to the point of madness. I can't believe how long it actually took me to figure out I had to jump out of the first screen, not continue to go down.

Ninja Gaiden series has always been a challenge on the higher difficulties, especially since it seems button-mash friendly, but really will get you killed if your timing on counter attacks is off or you continue a combo too long while an execution will work better.

Left 4 Dead on Expert with poor/immature/team-killing teammates is impossible.

MDK 2 on the DC

Oh god... I couldn't play MDK2... not because it was hard, but because compared to MDK1, it was fucking terrible! Get the original!

Oh, and Ikaruga is not one of the hardest Shmups... try playing DoDonPachi Dai Ouji Black Label.

My nods go to...

Devil May Cry 3 (First US release) : I got this for my birthday. I EXPECTED DMC1 goodness of bashing the fuck out of enemies in a stylish manner. What I got was an annoying level system attached to "styles" that only allowed me to survive the game up to the first boss. Where acoording to many people, either was A. a long fight or B. farm the first part of the level until you can cook the fucker. It gets a nod for hardest game simply cause, if you were like me. Expecting to just JUMP RIGHT IN! The game told you NO and rammed the ROFL stick up your ass.

Left 4 Dead(Expert Mode on Single or Multi with stupidity) : What seems like a walk in the park can instantly turn into hell. The game doesn't like you on this mode and lets you fucking know it. Seemingly "worst time ever" Tank and Horde spawns as well as classic "worse place ever" Witch spawns(usually forcing you to deal with the one hit K.O. Queen). While tricks are being figured out all the time it doesn't change the facts of A. Zombie incap you in 2...A SINGLE zombie, 2 hits = incap. B. Tanks are hulkin out with 8000 health in Expert mode. C. The above can hurt you team bad enough to force them to dilly dally or search desperately for health packs/pills. And did I mention your only allowed 2 Incaps?

Ninja Gaiden(Xbox...but I'll speak for all of them) : Never playing the older NGs the Xbox version was my first venture. We didn't get far. But from the very first boss I could tell it was gonna be a very, VERY bumpy ride. We got to the fat guy on the blimp where I finally tossed this shit in frustration back in its case and traded that noise in. The older NGs were just as insane with down to the pixel jumps and no save points back then, sonny.

Zelda II: Link's Adventure (NES) : The game, even today. Beats the unholy shit out of me. Im hoping to sit down and beat it someday.

Mario Kart 64 and Diddy Kong Racing(Collecting all Gold trophies in MK64 and all Balloons on DKR both regualr and mirror tracks) : These games welcomed you in with friendly characters, held your hand, and nurtured you. Then you hit 150cc and EXTRA on MK64, or/and Silver coin challenges/Mirror tracks or beating that bastard clock on every level. These games tested your patience and ability to do the same shit 3 laps in a row as well as win 1st place. Though Mario Kart 64 was more leniant, Diddy Kong Racing's placing of Silver coins vs usually aggressive as fuck A.I., showed you how Rare really felt about you.

F-Zero GX (GCN) : Hey, you know capt. falcon right? There were some of us who never heard of him until Smash. So F-Zero GX was a few people's first time with the series. I guarntee someone broke something with this game's release. This game seperated the legends from the men, the game hates on you like you messed up it's sneakers and it's retaliation is a Falcon PAWNCHS right to the baby maker over and over, and over again.

Ikaruga (DC/GCN/XBL) : I can honestly say, I beat this. At one point in my early teen years, I knew how the beat most of the levels without dying. Let's fast forward to 2008 and the re-lease on Xbox Live, yeah. That doesn't serve true anymore. While not hardest game ever, it's certainly enough to present more than a challenge.

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles (NES) : When Ultra(now known as Konami) made this, they made it to make money. Turtles were BIG back in the day. Most were already "WOW'D" with the Arcade Turtles (Known as TMNT 2 The Arcade Game to NES owners) and alot of people expected the Arcade version ported, what they got was hell on a cart. This game had an overworld view and places you actually go which then turned into side scrollers(Like Zelda II) and there were points you could die in the overworld and in the side scolling levels, jesus. The underwater swimming levels were a true test of skill. Man, that game made me break so many NESs.

Super Mario All-Stars > Super Mario Bros. The Lost Levels aka: Super Mario Bros. 2 : Back before mario hacks, this game made the most casual of Mario players cry in their sleep. The game had one fucking misson: To test how hard you were at SMB. The game took away your 2 player buddy, gave you the finger, and laughed at you about it. Forcing you to play solo (or pass controllers) you had 1 choice: Mario or Luigi(who had one hell of an air game), in many situations Luigi was the only way to go. So if you had already chosen Mario, prepare to be proper fucked. Even though the All-Star version had save states, Lost Levels only had one slot (unlike the other mario games which had 4 each) and the OG Famicom version, replied only with "Go back to the begining, fucking scrub." Of course compared to the many Mario Hacks, this is a calk walk. But once upon a time, this game was just as a hater as any other.

I Want To Be The Guy is undoubtedly the hardest game I have ever seen. Incredibly precise jumps, focused entirely on memorization that probably won't even help in the long run, stupid tricks, and only one hit and you take a dirt nap.

Also, the game intentionally lags randomly so that you mess up and tear your hair out.

I like to think I got pretty far in IWTBTG before I stopped. It simply wasn't good for my blood pressure.

Jaxel MDK2 was great?!?! You missed out on an amazing experience. Next time don't be so quick to judge things.

I'm 24 years old, in my youth I manage to beat:
. Battletoads -NES- (Took me like 5 years to beat back then in 1993, also I figure how to beat it with two players, Just kill P2 in Ragnarok and don't continue, then pass the game alone and if Dark Queen kills you, both players can come back even with the 5-lives input, cool huh?)
. Ninja Gaiden I -NES- (Almost beat NGII, and I'm currently playing NGIII)
. Battle Squadron -SegaGenesis- (with my li'bro, he's a beast)
. MegaMan2, 3, 4, 5(easiest) -NES-
. MegaMan X, X2 -SNES-
. MegaMan Legends -N64- (fun)
. Contra I -NES- (without 30 life input)
. Contra III: Alien Wars -SNES-
. Contra: Hard Corps -SG-

...
Dam, my mind got blocked, there's more...

Edit: I forgot to mention the hardest game, IMO:
. "Gradius 5" (GradiusV) for PS2, you have to beat the game 3 times non-stop to finish the loop.
. "The Adventures of Lolo" for NES was so hard that they give the option to suicide if you got stuck on any stage by pressing 'Select'.
. Another Hard, yet great game is "Flying Dragon" for NES, the game is played by instant random target mark in you and your opponent to attack and block with directional+button commands, similar to today's QTE system.
. "God Hand" for PS2 is hard and fun!
. "Lost Vikings" for SNES was quite challenging an fun!

Edit2: Games I'm looking forward to play:
. Ninja Blade -XB360- (Because of this game, I'm considering buying an XB360, everyone with XB360 should check it out, is not going to be a hard game, but looks like lots of non-stop action fun, and the music is awesome)
. GT5 for PS3
. God Of War III
. Tekken 6: BR
. Street Fighter IV
. Virtua Fighter 5R
. Flower
for PS3

dude my old roommate used to get all coked up and shred the fuck out of ikaruga.

also i can get all golds in mario kart in like an hour and a half.

Still can't believe this is still up for debate, go play i wanna be the guy then come back and try and say something else is harder.

Me and my friend tried to beat battletoads the other day, and we couldn't get past the part where you repel down the tunnel because we kept killing each other.

Lol, it happens. Position advice: P1 (Rash) stays in the opposite part of the screen from P2 (Zitz), if Rash is in the upper left, Zits must stay in lower right.

Crow juggling for 1Ups is a most in order to get farther to the next stages through tries/errors.

I remember playing Battletoads, but I don't remember beating it or not. Megaman and TMNT were definitely up there in difficulty. As a kid with nothing to do but play video games and not beat those games says something. Well, I might have beaten TMNT once.

I haven't played any of the Ninja Gaidens since NES, but I used to beat those without continues. I could do the same with Legend of Zelda II (pretty easy with all the extra lives around, IMO).

I want to try the newer NG's out now and that I Want to be the Guy after reading this thread.
