Wow. This is like 2003 and 2005 all over again.

For me, I am always overseas, waiting for over a year to actually play people in this game, and when I come back, everyone stops playing for one thing or another. Oh well, my bad luck shouldn't be ya'll problem, so I'll just have to put the future of the game in y'all hands yet again. The price I pay for serving my country.

At least someone in Texas will play this game, since it seems like everyone else in the country won't after Nats....

I will still play the game! I may not be in Texas, but I'll still play the game. Keep serving the country.

Seriously, I don't see why people can't handle Hilde.
I might not be as good as Cedric, but that's because I'm doing moves which aren't just plain C3B FC C2B and C3A.
Reason? People where I play all find a good anti-step move, Watch which charges I have stored, and start to warble if I focus on trying to land the combos.
Also why hasn't anyone even mentioned that jumping counters C3B and FC C2B?

She's god damn annoying, that I'll agree with, but not ban-worthy IMO.

namco only patches stuff if it's overly abused, since this game has no arcade version yet, the best place now is from local tournaments and online, yes abuse her as much as possible, when people start making noises or start leaving, then there might be a possibility that she'll be patch.

I recall there are a few people here that lives in Japan or are from japan, so how's the japan community scene regarding Hilde?

namco only patches stuff...when they feel like it. also keep in mind that namco only really listened to the japanese players when they were making the 1.03 patch

Japanese community I do not know much about, but I hear they still play SC3 AE a lot over there, since SC4 doesn't have an arcade version. Console fighting game tournaments are either very rare or nonexistent in Japan.

Also note that arcade updates were a direct consequence of the relation between people playing the game for a long period of time and the revenue.

Makes me wish Namco would just release an Arcade version of IV and patch console to correspond with it. That way, everything as far as tourny standards will be set in stone (ie Arcade standard) and we'd no longer have to deal with the "to ban or not to ban" nonsense.

completely and utterly off topic: Nationals Committee/DFG would consider unbanning the poor souls who got the ban stick?

On topic: I see both sides of the argument but I think we should wait. In the next month or so, we have about 6 or so regionals, including perhaps FR. I think if we wait until then, we may have enough information to discuss further. Hopefully respectfully...I hope.

Why do fighting game communities have to split like this? Motherf... *sigh*

Like it says on a popular bumper sticker:

Allow 'em all. Let Namco sort it out.

it's like i'm unraveling a giant sweater that someone keeps KNITTING, AHAND KNITTING, AHAND KNITTING, AHAND KNITTING

I'm very, very new around these here parts, but honestly, guys, please don't pull a Super Smash Bros. on me. I was somewhat miffed when I heard of Algol being banned, but I understood it. I also understood why Yoda was banned, but Hilde? Seriously? Come on, you guys. Sort it out. Don't cry. Fight. With honor.

With all these ban topics, it's always the people who use the character in question (JOP, Ciernian, Tiamat) or random scrubs/noobs (Tiamat) who are adament against banning. Anybody who witnesses the heinous gayness first hand is all about the ban. Everyone except Chacha who has warped opinions and Oofmatic, the guy who loved glitching and cheating people in sc3 with Lizardman and calling it fair.

If you think the game would be better if they patched Hilde, then why wait for it? What would you like for them to do with a patch? Change the ringout distance?, Lessen her damage output?, Both?

I say either ban Hilde's relaunch or lock all Hilde tourney matches in at one or two walled stages. There is no reason to ban a character, just fix the root problem. It's not Hilde, it's her damage/RO ability, so we should have a communal consensus to standardize tournaments with rules to maintain balance....NOW

I see... my opinions are warped because they differ from yours. Excellent analysis Sword Lord, keep the accurate insight coming!

I've encountered Hilde's online and I will admit that fighting her is insane. One mistake and it's over. Even if you aren't hit by the full combo some of her moves will send you flying out the ring even though the edge is far behind you.

I voted not to ban her because I think getting rid of characters is not the solution. But something should be done to make the game more playable with her in it. I kinda like the idea of using certain stages. IMO she is a very good and balanced character without her ring outs so getting rid of her completely would be too bad...
