Nightmare Web Theater.

Kingace what the hell are you talking about? How exactly is spamming iWR B a complicated strategy? And how does Keev using step whiff punishes with 3B have any similarity to Sing using WR B for counterhits and countering highs (which doesn't even work because it doesn't TC)?

If you're going to jump into a discussion at least educate yourself with the contents being discussed. I am responding to what Engared said, read it. He said Sing was using a standing WRB because he thought this would make CF duck in anticipation of a Flapjack.

The third question, is a matter of playstyle, how you get you damage or what your hook is...Keev uses 3B and Sing in the matches with CF was using WRB quite often as he's primary means of combo damage. That's the only reason you ever spam WRB, I have done it before and I am sure other NM players have aswell. WRB doesn't TC, but you can still use the FC animation to punish whiffed highs, I don't see why I should explain this to you.

I do not think WR set ups is any more complicated than anything really. If hes using WR as CH fishing from "standing" (i should call it neutral), its a poor strategy due to the inherent unsafety (ways to get around the unsafety but i wont go into that). Its also 16++ frames (you have to crouch and then WR B so i think the actual frame rate is in the 18-20+) and has no tech crouch.

However with prior set up such as ducking for a second and grabbing from crouch, attempted flapjack or stepping to simulate a grab etc, it will be a much more viable strategy. I feel that Sing should have been using 3B/Grab in those situations, such as how Keev does it. Though Setsuka can punish 3B with WR kB, the risk reward is way in NM's favor imo.

WR is a great move for punishing Whiffed highs and if you are in crouch and/or on frame advantage. But i find it very weak from Neutral and/or in the step game.

Sing uses way too much 6B as well. Its such a terrible move i wish i could remove it from my move list haha.

Two Videos of Gazer

Needs more 11K, more 3K, much more 1K. Narrow your basic moveset down to his 5-7 safe moves (ask me for it if you want to know what it is) to establish your step. Wait for whiff punish, move backwards more (dont use 44BB as part of your stepback arsenal (33B is much better and is less of a gamble)). 3AA is punishable so use it to shut down right step or punish only (hit confirm is possible from 3A), for a poke 3K/11K is much better. And for God's sake take 88AB out of your moveset, theres nothing good about it unless situational and/or CH. I think you have to counter hit confirm it as well. In all...Bad move.

More Nightside stance as well, dont stay in NSS but empty NSS transitions into NSS A or NSS B or NSS A+B mixups are very strong. Hates was rolling alot so GS B on the ground is a good option oki. Many more grab attempts as well. If hes ducking your throws, spam 11K or 66K or aGa or even close range 33B. Cerv has a slow walk speed so space him out and punish his whiffs with 33B and aGa or play footsies to get close on whiff and use grab mixup.

Yeah, 22_88AB is bad; too punishable. Better rewards from just outright stepping.

Also, I didn't know 4A lead to a 66B tech trap. Any details on that? I don't use 4A that much, and only really think it's good if you can Warble shit, but I guess it's good to know what you have in your arsenal.

1A is also a techtrap for 4A. 4A is actually a very good move, i use it as a whiff punisher, a frame trap when they are afraid of 33B or 11K or a set up for a:G:a (slow aga). However I normally just take the NTC charge with 2A+B when 4A hits.

Hey guys, Deathinmyeyes, a FL Nightmare player, has played me in a 4 hour offline session recently, and we recorded over an hour of matches, majority of which is his NM vs My Raphael. We're both going to a tournament with players much more known and skilled then ourselves, and we want blood. I'll get advice from the Raph video thread as well, but if you guys can view the video's when posted Thursday/Friday timeframe, and post commentary/critique prior to our October 16th Orlando tourney, it'd be very much appreciated. Deathinmyeyes doesn't have internet access currently, but I'm sure he'd make the request himself if he was present.

Oh I'm also of mind to think NM vs Raphael isn't a common match for you guys, and My raphael is alot more spastic, twitchy, and stabby then most. By all means if you see obvious flaws in my game that Death can capitalize on, let him and I know, we'll both correct it.

Also, whiled he is a good stepper and forced me to change my patterns to handle it, he overall didn't handle prep well in alot of these matches. I also have recently come from solely online play and realize I cannot duck readable lows for shit myself...and Eat some silly NSS frame traps, mostly with NSS K. Time heals, He'll get it later, just like I'll start 2aing every GS transition and ducking/TCing every NSS K.....

::Vid's will be posted Fridayish::

I'll try to watch them then. I think Raph has advantage against Nightmare but it's pretty fair.

All right, the Nightmare and Raph vids are up. Nightmare vs Voldo and Raph VS cervy will have to wait till tomorrow.

For now, critique away. No sound is boring, I know.

DIME: I didn't watch it super closely but looks like you got the general important stuff down for the most part. Sometimes you'd back away when you had the advantage and I couldn't really understand why. I'd say try to increase the amount of sidesteps and decrease the amount of backstepping/backwalking in general.

and do more 33B6s at close range. (serious)

I tend to backaway when I have the advantage. Under pressure, it usually draws out whiffs. Its just a thing of mine, I guess.

Well, I do use 33B6 at close range. I'm pretty sure I started doing 33B a lot more near the end of the video. I know, for sure, that last thursday I went apeshit on BC with 33B, but didn't get the matches recorded.

yeah but you even did it a couple times after he got knocked down against the ring edge...I was like huh?

It's ok everyone does stupid shit. Sometimes it even works, but generally it's good if you recognize it so you can minimize it. I noticed in one of the matches you both got flashing red soul gauges but i wasn't sure how it happened I'd have to watch that part again. Not used to seeing NM get other people flashing.
