Yeah don't compile just yet. Testing things against players in a brand new game makes things hard to analyze, even when I'm focusing on the testing stuff.

As a general note, PMing me on Discord is the best way to ask questions and curate responses atm. Doing AMAs and testing in live chat is too hard on my crap phone.
We wait eagerly for your findings but most importantly enjoy yourself :)

You guys are analyzing the main menu of a game that doesn't even have a final character select screen.

Looks like both players get the menu after matches again. No clue why T7 or SCV didn't do this.

That would, imho, be a waste of development time... I've never been fond of these "so out of place" mini-games :D
I think Vergeben said something about the possibility of PS outsourcing certain tasks to other companies (again), so that wouldn't waste any development time at all. It would eat a little development budget, though.
Here's hoping that bow and arrow just mean "Training"...

Link had a bow and arrow in SoulCalibur II, and Ezio had a crossbow in SoulCalibur V. They may be guests, but we've seen the weapon before. An arrow quiver has also been a customization equipment in pretty sure in all the games so far, and there was a nonfunctional bow in SoulCalibur V.

I'm not ruling out that maybe Edgelord Papi or a third new character might implement a bow and arrow as a side weapon, just pointing out that it's not like we haven't seen the weapon before.

It's confirmed they're doing a lot of outsourcing. A Famitsu article mentioned they were surprised how many outside developers they had gotten involved to help with SC6. SC5 also had quite a lot of outsourcing (music by Creative Intelligence Arts, cutscenes by CyberConnect2, CE and other animations by Just Cause, QA by Pole To Win, and a ton of other companies were involved to do misc stuff for the game).

I meant, only this as a weapon. Link's moveset wasn't centered around his bow, same with Ezio's. The question is: why, among all the main weapons we have in the game, the bow and arrows were chosen?

The bow and arrows got me wondering... We never had such weapons, why add them in the menu? A spear or a sword would be enough, or even Mitsurugi's katana or whatever. Maybe it doesn't mean anything, but maybe we're getting a character using their bow bow for close combat and range (like Ina in Sengoku Musou)

l0l why is the camera for this video drunk? The uploader really needs level up is video editing skills. But yeah, Ina's style would be cool.

My best guess is, assuming it's the options menu, the symbolism that is picking different types of arrows to use the same weapon in different ways. None of the existing weapons really have a similar thing going for them, just completely different versions of the same weapon.

We could hope Papa Edgy has some kind of Kung Jin-like weapon? Ivy's weapon became a bow in one of her SCV moves too if that's any indication.

Anyways, I'm gonna hope that since there's not much info and enough space that the menus have subsections. Modes are very desirable after what happened last time. Still seems there's more to hope for from what we've seen than what to dread. It's still early but at least it isn't the 20 slots.

I wonder if the CES build is a little bit more advance than the PSX build, the game looks a little bit better like with some better colors and lightning.

Soul Calibur tends to do that, they always show a very rough first impression and smooth things out along the way, that said I'm not too sure, maybe those are just angles we haven't seem yet.

I got a question. Would reverse rage be less of an issue since soul charge gives you chip damage?
My supposition is that the same rules would still apply, if the chip damage is under the damage threshold, it still wouldn't do any damage.

Man, that gets into some other questions like:

Can you die to chip? (was this answered? I don't recall seeing if you could)
What percentage of a move's damage converts to chip?
Is that number then less than 20? (wasn't the reverse rage threshold 20?)
Is there a minimum damage that a move can be reduced to? (I'm assuming 1)
Does that mean that small, multi hitting moves go up in value due to guaranteed damage via their lockdown, for example: Tira's Gloomy 44 B HOLD* (bunch of hits, would each of the hits within the move do the minimum damage of 1?)

Damn I can't wait to play this game.

*I tried to use openBracket B closedBracket but I don't know how to escape out characters and the forum saw it as a bold tag

Hopefully chip damage scales, maybe it will 0 with enough hits.
Chip damage is not new to SC, maybe it will be something like the shave damage from older games, anyone would care to test in SC IV?

I think the icons are placeholders. Unless people are also fighting with crowns. Or there's a Conquest Mode.

The icons may be placeholders, but they still at the very least likely have some semblance of what the final purpose may be. I don't put too much stock in the bow and arrow, but if, for the sake of argument, they do use a bow and arrow, then it should relate to something, otherwise it is a little silly. The crown may refer to museum mode, which I'd be happy to see return.
