Soul Calibur VI: General discussion

My realistic expectations are bare minimum. But to Bandai Namco's credit, games with character creation is something they always include as something you get to make use of in those betas for games that have had it, if that means anything.
If they know they're selling the game to both crowds (which they do) then it'd be smart to have the beta include one of their biggest selling points you can play around with.
Dark Souls Remastered had pre rolled characters.

I think the whole see through pants thing is because Filipinos wear see through- shirts.

Not pants as far as I am aware of. May have to look it up. Also the blonde hair choice has to do with how some Filipinos have blonde hair...which is nice but meh.

A thing I want to point out that another reason she is hated is because of her place in low tier. I did speak with a Talim player and he said that her two weaknesses are her range and normal hit damage. However he said she can be improved with her frames being fixed with the addition of her stances needing some work.

I believe you're talking about the Barong Tagalog and mestizo/mestiza culture, and in both cases, the Spanish had a hand in implementing both when they colonized the Philippines for a period of time. However, if that were the reason behind those stylistic choices for Talim, they're poorly represented...especially considering Talim comes from a tribe whose way of life was being threatened specifically by the encroaching Spaniards lol (hence her being the last priestess of the wind).

Anyone know when SoulCalibur VI will be purchasable in Steam? It's still not up there yet.
Namco is really slow w/ adding games to the Steam store to be wishlisted. I think recent examples like DBFZ, .hack Last Recode, SAO: Fatal Bullet, etc were all up on the store just 1 or 2 months before release. Code Vein has had gameplay videos since like Fall 2017 and it's still not on the Steam store. =\

Speaking of outfits, what would you like to see for the 2Ps? I'm pretty sure the colors are just placeholders, because I remember that being the case with SCV and all games have alternate costumes.

Here's my wishlist:

I was going to do like you and make a gallery, but mostly, pretty much across the board, I love everyone's 2ps from SoulCalibur III, so those.
Exceptions would be Ivy, would rather have her 2p from SoulCalibur I, and Taki, would rather have her 3p from SoulCalibur II.

In terms of why Talim is low tier is that yes, her damage per hit is very low, except for her fastest hits her speed is matched by Taki and if you make the wrong moves not even that. It is easy to miss imput a move and make it go slower than you want, sometimes this can work in your favor though if you want to be less predictable.

Her other weakness besides low damage is short reach. I think this is by design though to encourage you to wind charmer or wind salt to get in closer.

Talim has a very aggressive style and excels at ring out moves and has a very beat people up in their face, after getting in close. If you can't get in close with her then you can't do anything.

So I would say if she were to be given anything to improve her fighting ability I would say it would be some sort of way to make her approach slightly easier, maybe allow her to double wind salt, or cancel a wind salt to change the way it approaches. Maybe give wind charmer a guard impact property so when she uses it dodge it can deflect and allow her to use a gotcha move of some sort.

Just some thoughts.

Some sort of wind projectile or ability to pull the opponent closer with a wind vortex might be some way to improve her viability as well as giving her some personality in line with some of the other characters' new gimmicks.

I don’t know how they got away with this. It’s a blatant copy and even some moves were a copy. I still like Viola better.

If you are shocked by this, so what about Leo Tekken that is basically copy pasta DOA Elliot wearing Rock Howard clothes.

Hey but at least after a decades they finally gave her an original costume and that make her way more original in her own.

Videogames copy each other it's not something new, but the menat case isn't too much cause actually she's very much different compare Viola in term of personality. She just share the magic ball thing, which actually didn't debut with Viola as well.

Probably not until late September or early October. Namco really drags their feet. Code Vein and Tales of Vesperia aren't up on Steam yet either.

Yeah that's really late. I'm really questioning the people behind Namco's marketing department. They need to be more aggressive with marketing and really try to make the game purchasable to as many major retailers as possible. Why wait to take the customer's money?
I was hoping that the game would be up on Steam the moment the release date was revealed but this doesn't seem to be the case.

Yeah they did. Then again, that whole beta seemed like such an oversight and just kind of was a thing that happened.
It existed to try and get some impatient people to try it out and test the servers.
What's sad is that I know people who love Dark Souls that didn't even bother with the beta for one reason or another. lol I'm curious how successful that beta actually was. I can actually say that no one that I personally know even bothered with it and instead just waited for the game to come out. Which is kind of funny to me in hindsight due to the level of excitement there was for Dark Souls getting remastered, people actually COULD wait for it to come out.

Oh Menat. She's like one of those internet hexafusion meme things but official.
She was the combination of taking Maya and Meena from Dragon Quest IV (two purple haired, brown skinned characters, one that dances and is sexy while the other is a serious fortune teller with a crystal ball) and fusing them with Viola and Ancient Egyptian imagery (let's just default to saying Cleopatra for sake of conversation as a person to use for this fusion example) and.... voila!
Menat.
I have no doubt in my mind that's literally what happened too. They weren't trying to be subtle or sneaky. It was so blatant. lol

Yes, I agree her SC4 1P outfit is too busy and over designed.

Would love to see more of her original outfits in the game.

What outfits would you all like to see your mains in?

Both of Talims outfits in SC4 were terrible. They better lean more into SC2 for her outfits in this game.

I'd like Cassandra to have her SC2 1P outfit (the bob with the pantyhose) but with some touch-ups and improvements. Her 2P from that game has been done to death and improved to the point where it became her 1P outfit in SC4. It's time for the classic to come back (if Cassandra is hopefully in the game).

That's a From Software decision to add preset characters to a playtest build, same thing happened with Bloodborne which is a Sony funded and published IP.

You can't apply the same rules to a publisher and it's own first party studio.

No offense, but I don't like your "sense of taste " too much. :P
Talim's SC4 1P outfit was the only decent one she has.
Cassandra SC2 1P outfit is a perfect example of awful design in a videogame.

I'm not going to argue with you on something that's solely based on opinions as I can easily see things going into a loop and that's a waste of time for all involved.
I'm just going to say I completely disagree and end it there.
