Soul Calibur VI: General discussion

I'm really happy that a new meme has spread like cancer that we are "definitely" getting a brand new female character in the Season 2 pass. Just like Vergeban sparking the stupid barbarian woman, we have the female style becoming gospel for a select few people on soulcalibur boards and reddit.

It's just so sad to see, because it's Not confirmed, and it was very obviously a PR answer. I don't know why it's so hard to understand Okubo's angle here!

Give people hope and they may buy the season pass before all is revealed. If you dash their hope, they will become disappointed and avoid buying the pass. It's a simple logical strategy to get people excited for the pass who strictly want new females or whatever.

Yes, after weaving Azwel and Groh a part so integral in the SC6 story and Libra of Souls, they are just gonna toss some random waifu in the game on the side doing her own thing.

Yeah I don't think so. Project Soul may be many things, but they aren't as low as Team Ninja.

I know Evo was just recently but it feels like 3 months, need more highlevel Calibur action tournaments.

I hope once (IF) SC WT is announce things are gonna move more smoothly, and also hope once then some more unknow OP players will show up from nowhere. Like some Indonesian Amy that will destroy everyone and then people will realize she was broken this whole time (of course this just random example lol)

It kinda reminds of that one stage of the leak where it was said that they want to add new teenage, European character using a whip. It was so darn ridiculous that it remind me of that one YT channel that throws out any gossip of a potential slip about a perhaps but not really a leak, saying that it's something that may happen. Can't remember it tho but I'm grateful bout that

thankfully that youtuber has gone back to mortal kombat! Do not forget that it's taking Project Soul forever to release revamped classic characters like Cassandra, and people think they have the time and budget to do a non commercial character that's brand new?

They can afford to do a brand new movelist for Haohmaru because he is a cross promotion designed to bring new people in and to keep them here. You want to use the DOA excuse? Well a female character in DOA is guaranteed to sell if she's designed a certain way. More costumes, bikinis, outfits etc to sell with her. But DOA5 also had an arcade release to put these new DLC characters in, with multiple platforms to profit from (PS3,360, PS4, xbone, pc)

I don't think anyone is convinced that we are "definitely" getting a brand new female character, or a brand new character at all. It's a remote possibility, to be sure, can't rule it out, and I personally feel it's more likely to happen in season three, if at all, but I don't feel like we've got a "leak" to say anything about it.

on other forums I've seen this theory of a new character pop up. But they are extrapolating that from our discussion here.... The reason why It's so unlikely is because there are too many characters to bring back and monetize over a much bigger investment being a new character.

Tekken 7 is on it's third pass, it already had a nice almost perfect roster on console release. At this point there simply isn't a whole lot of characters for them to bring back because of how massive the tekken rosters have been. They are focusing on unique or very popular characters. So adding a brand new character is a good way to excite people for the third pass. I love Zafina's redesign but Leroy clearly spoke to a wider audience because he was the big discussion point from evo not zafina.

And SoulCalibur? The roster has basically never been over 30 characters in any game, and the SCV additions are low in popularity except for Viola and ZWEI is really pushing it. A brand new character right now is not likely at all

Are you referring to Dynasty?

It's okay, he will probably never make SC6 content again!
If he chooses not to:

So ive got my trusty psp at my side and I must say I'm honestly a little disappointed. I'm comparing the stuff from Broken Destiny to 6. It seems there's quite a decent amount of weapons missing from SC6 and for like Cass and Sophitia and Pyrrha they did this weird mix and match.

Is it too much to just ask for them all back from SC4 and 5 for the relevant characters?

Well SoulCalibur IV has Soul Calibur & Soul Edge as weapons, and those aren't eligible to return now that we're canonizing everything. I agree that Cassandra and Sophitia taking weapons from Pyrrha and Patroklos is an odd move, but Xianghua and Kilik are doing it too, and Taki took one of Natsu's though Natsu originally took about half of hers from Taki to begin with. It was nice that Amy got some brand new weapons, though I'd still loved to have had Tuck back from SoulCalibur III. Number of weapons, though, it's the same, seven per, though Xianghua, Nightmare, and Cassandra get an eighth.

Speaking of Broken Destiny, though, I still find it weird that Dampierre has a 2p and a full set of weapons in that, and he didn't in SoulCalibur V.

probably he was a fairly last minute addition to the game. His whole inclusion in V is very poorly done and implemented. It's easy to forget he's even in the game!

I had no idea they even took some of Pat's weapons! Do you know if it was sophitia or cass who took weapons from him? As for the whole canon thing, who gives a shit? It does really disappoint me if Project Soul used that to justify removing weapons...

Did Nightmare really wield a giant tree branch thing? I doubt that's canon...

Cassandra has Icicle from Patroklos. I was expecting her to also get the Skull’s Horn as well, but she got her Dark Blade back instead. And then of course Cassandra has Sophitia’s Fire Blade and Sophitia has Cassandra’s Katzbalger.

The giant tree weapon is attributed to the Black Panther Warrior folks, like Mi-na’s Primitive Spear.

If there is a chance that Hwang makes it in, I am really curious how they will handle his weapons. Will they slap Yun-Seong's weapon set on him + Blue Thunder and call it a day?

I mean I hope not, because it'll be awkward if Yun-seong comes in season three and has no weapons left of his own. It would make more sense to either bring back weapons from SoulCalibur III or make new weapons, like Amy, or even maybe take a few of Xianghua's leftovers. Hwang could take Qing Long and Dragon Sword from Yun-seong's SoulCalibur IV weapons, though, because he had them originally in SoulCalibur III (and Xianghua had Qing Long before Hwang). Though they'll probably have to rename it, because Leixia took Qing Long and they re-styled it to make it more appropriate for that style. The original Qing Long design, though, is very suitable as a dao weapon and likely would be used, I think. Soul Edge can't come back, so that's one less too.

Honestly, they may share a lot of their weapons, like Siegfried and Nightmare share the Blade of Torment / Large Tachi, if they don't dip into SoulCalibur II/III.

do you know if any of the SC4 weapons changed the hitboxes or length significantly? I know in SC2/3 they had longer or shorter weapons but I suppose it makes more sense now to keep them all the same length for balancing reasons

They could always give him back the Phantom.

...would that banned in tournament play since it's invisible?

Speaking of alt weapons, I wonder what our new guest will get.

I know nothing of SamSho, but I assume they will put effort and care into his set because he is the valued guest aka the brand new character in the season pass. Expect the red carpet for him
