2009 NFL thread

Oh man what a game yesterday.

I literally shit my pants about 3 times, I won't even elaborate but obviously we have some issues with tougher defenses out there. Makes me think about the Vikes - Saints game if (more like, when) that goes down.

GG skins... Saints 12-0.

OMG math

I can see the Niners going 4-1 down that stretch to finish 9-7.

Well, guess who was made to look like a fool? :(

It is evident from Sunday's game that coaching in San Fran leaves a lot to be desired. Jury's still out on Alex Smith though. He looked in control throwing the rock around. It wasn't his fault that special teams muffed a punt return inside the SF 30-yard line or that Frank Gore gave up a fumble with the team driving for a go-ahead score.

Draft some OLs who can run block, please. I think Mike Singletary's greenness as head coach is coming through, but what I think is most important is players want to play for him.

Man, Skins did everything possible to lose that game (with a little help from the refs). When a game plays out like that, you just have to sit back and accept that the Saints are a team of destiny. I hope they go all the way, it's been a long time coming for that franchise.

Minnesota is like pre 2001 Patriots and pre 2006 Philadelphia. Right in there with Cleveland and Buffalo for worst franchises to be a fan of.

Patriots continue to suck. Brady needs to remember how to run down a clock. They had the lead and the ball with 3:26 left in the game and they couldn't run it out. Belichick can't pass up a field goal and considering that lost by only one point it hurts even more. I hope the Patriots don't have to hit rock bottom to figure out that they have to play a straight up football game. Kicking field goals and running out the clock to win a game.

Cowgrils going to fall again wuth Tony Homo :p

What's funny is that it wasn't even Tony OhNo's fault this time. He had a baller game passing to Witten and co. for almost 400 yards, 3 TD and no picks. This was all with the running game failing around him. Even trash Roy Williams had 2 TDs. So I have to wonder, I don't think another team will kick their running game's ass that bad, and Tony OhNo actually played decent, will the collapse look the same as it has in the past? Depends on how they are mentally after this game, I suppose.

Herve:

What the fuck are you talking about?

Minnesota's still 10-2. Yeah, HORRIBLE team to be a fan of. And isn't this the first time the Patriots have lost twice in a row in about, I don't know, FOREVER?

Arch...

I don't agree with the Pats bashing but, I live in South Dakota, and this is Viking central. I have seen the disappointment year, after year, after year.... 23 years worth of Viking choke fest. They are a horrible franchise to be a fan of. They always let their fans down.

The only reason people are even looking at them this year is because of Brett Favre bringing them some game in the QB dept, and what do you get when you add a Choke artist QB to one of the greatest Choke artist teams in the League? I'll let you answer that.

Look, I'm still rooting for the patriots. The problem is they're doing dumb shit to lose two important games. If Brady doesn't learn to eat up the clock and not always go 3 downs and punt in the 4th quarter then this team will continue to struggle on the road. Plus Belichick is going for it on 4th way too much. They could of kicked a field goal would of made their total score 24 where as Miami scored 22. Instead we have a loss to a division rival and let another team back into the race.

The bright side is that their two remaining road games are against sub .500 teams. They could win the last 4 to clinch the division.

Herve: I don't think Brady WANTED to go 3 and out. He doesn't call the plays, and it's not like Miami sat on their hands and let Brady go 3 and out either. Their defense stepped up.

Psylocide: I understand what you mean. But please keep in mind that I've had it worse in Arizona.

Yeah, he didn't want to go three and out. Instead he wanted to go one big bomb instead of just trying to get a first down. The Patriots can not eat up clock at the end of a game and until they learn how to, their Superbowl chances are slim.

He makes that bomb and he looks like a genius. And again, that's the coach/coordinator calling the plays.
