8WayRun Fanfiction: The Writer's Block

I have braved Lightning x Hilde and lived to tell the tale. Try me.
XD Hilde and Lightning?! Well, alright then. But just to warn you, it's even longer than Calibur world.
The first one-http://www.fanfiction.net/s/6910149/1/A_Journey_Of_Fate
The sequel-http://www.fanfiction.net/s/7068532/1/Returning_To_A_Destined_Journey
Shippings-Raphael X Talim, Yun-Seong X Seong-Mina, Kilik X Xianghua, Nightmare X Tira(one sided love), Hilde X Siegfried (later on).
*Note- I'm going to rewrite the first 7 chaps in the first one later on. And the first one was more for relationship development and the second one gets into the plot.
Reasons why I support Raph and Talim...(so that you guys don't think I'm insane)
1-Soul Calibur 2 had a picture of Raphael, Talim and Yun-Seong together. That was my first hint that those three are going to have their stories connect somewhere.
2- The reason why Raphael and Talim had a destined battle in soul Calibur 3 was never clear, there’s got to be a good reason explaining that sometimes in the future. And Talim kept having dreams about Soul Calibur in SC3 in the western lands and without understanding why, her heart grew hot. Something was waiting for her in the west and her heart fluttered quietly with that premonition( I bolded the words since they were directly from her profile.). And... her destined battle in SC3 was Raphael
3-Talim wants to restore the world to normal; Raphael wants to make a new world. Is it just me or does their goals seem like the perfect conflicts between each other.
4-Raphael is a mocking and rather arrogant kind of guy, but his victory quote against Talim seemed kind of OOC. He says, “It’s time for your nap, little one.” That’s like the nicest thing he said to any opponent.
5-To head to Ortheinsburg, Talim needed to head north and pass through Raphael’s lands. Come on, with that much spiritual power, she’s got to notice that something is wrong with the people there. And obviously, she’s going to try to heal them and Raphael will surely notice. Cassandra and Kilik failed, so now it’s Talim’s turn.
6-In soul Calibur 4, Talim switched from believing that soul Calibur was a holy sword and Raphael switched from wanting Soul Edge to wanting Soul Calibur. There’s something fishy going on. And she’s all alone on her journey now that yun-seong left, the game producers has to make it more interesting somehow.
7-In their chain of souls profile, it says that both looked up at the night sky and saw the shards of soul edge flying by and both compared them to stars.
8-For soul Calibur 5, all the characters are going to age seventeen years. That would make Talim 32. Since Raphael is sort of a vampire, he’s probably going to remain at the age of 32. So the whole age difference thing between them is going to go into Zassy's blackhole.
I don't know, love should be open in my opinion. Race, age, status, wealth, etc shouldn't be an obstacles but in reality, they sadly are. Well, just rate me on my plot, grammar, and etc plz. ^^

Planning to make a very long, detailed fanfic after I finish my two stories. Details will be anounced soon!

On the other hand, I have been planning a "Y & T's Unpredicting Love Wager" revamp!!!
So read the first version because:
1) It's an awesome story!

2) You can tell the difference between the old version when you read the new version!!

3) You can request what you want to see in the revamp!!!

Too much to read! Slow down you people!!! XD

EDIT: This FanFiction thing is haaard. How do you people do this?

Start with a character you like. Then add another character you like. The rest you do with them is up to your own imagination, and whatever you come up with. :)

I started reading the first chapter of "A Journey of Fate", and I must say, I like where it's going! Nice job, darkwings. :)
Really? Aww, thanks. It was my first fiction and reading it over, I think the first seven chaps weren't that great. Things got better after that. And I'm open to constructive criticism, so don't hold back if you see something :D

My crazy imagination.

You all will hate me for this. But it must be said. Agghhem *cough*

From what I've read, mainly Darkwings, Sophichans, and Talismans FanFiction, you are very imaginitive with your stories. They are well written. But the point arises.

As far as I can tell, the only thing they have in common with Soul Calibur; the only thing they have to mark them as "Fan Fiction" is the character names, and maybe a few idiosyncrasies with their SC counterparts. Take that away, insert your own characters, and you have something wholly original. So the questions begs, Why?

I thought about this while walking and here's my reason.

When I think of characters from Soul Calibur, it gives me a base for a story.
I.E. My "Y & T's Unpredicting Love Wager" fanfic, I chose Talim beacuase sh'es my favorite character, she's sweet, innocent, and loving. "Yunny" as I called him was arrogant, self-centered, but was courageous and confident nonetheless. Since I thought of these characters, it made me think of a story that I can use the two to interact with eachother.

If I thought of my own character's it would have taken me longer and my ideas wouldn't have been as vivid as the ones I had from the SC characters.

Long story short, the SC characters made me construct a more detailed, crafted story than my own characters that probably wouldn't have inspired me to work on that story.

Did they? Or would have been just as detailed and crafted with your own characters? Sure it would take longer, a lot longer (everything I have posted on here, as far as creative writing, was originally done about a month previous. I spend a lot of time editing and revising. And hell, I spent 2 months working out Arianne, Cassandra, and Petter.) but it would be just as good.

Yes it does take longer, but the reward that knowing your work is wholly your own is very sweet. Maybe I'll never understand, or figure it out. Can't say I'm not trying though...

EDIT: Update to my own fanfiction attempt. I've all but given up. 5 pages of notes, two lines of actual writing, close the screen thinking "This is ridiculous. I can't do this." Maybe its having to work within someone else's 'rules.' Maybe it's even the contradictory original material (Talim being so forgiving, innocent, ect, after punching a dude in the face with a blade). I'll try to power through, and it will be released by next Monday at the latest. But god its awful (to me).

Does not compute.
Need input Stephanie.

I'm in the process of my own tory and i'm making my own characters, they're coming out quite nice too. If you make a fanfic, I WILL read it, good/bad/ completed/in progress.

I'm not trying to brag, really, but I write my chapters literally while i'm just thinking about them and BAM! They end up being good, sure I edit, but am I the only one who does that and has success?

I deleted that post, didn't want to start an argument. I mean to be more pleading with you guys than anything else.

The short stories I do don't go through more than two edits. But the big one currently (out of sheer curiosity threat) has and will go through countless revision to get exactly how I want it (try it in first person, third, limited third). You are truly gifted then Tali! Haha!

ALSO I AM APPRENTICED!! I had to announce that somewhere. lol too excited. My cousin (with a Masters in creative writing and book publishing) is basically tutoring me. He gives me a project and a time frame. I.E. I want a story on a topic you loathe in two weeks.

Hee hee!! This is going to be so hard, but I want to do it!

It's fine. I go to a website once a while, here's a link

http://www.waynesthisandthat.com/

It has TONS of great info.

Will check that out later, thanks!

By the way, read the book "Sin and Syntax" by Constance Hale. I'm learning so much.

Talisman, Darkwing, Exodus, I will leave you all with this for the night.

Please understand I hold your abilities in the highest regard, and do not think less of you for writing Fan Fiction. Fan Fiction on the whole just doesn't make sense to me. Why do you write it? What do you get out of writing it? Why put your (extensive) talents to characters that are not your own?

If you want to PM me an explanation that would be fantastic. This topic leaves me completely befuddled.

Ahahaha, the reason why I wanted to write a fanfiction in the first place because... let's face it, I'm the only writer that supports RaphXTalim. So the reason why I poured all my efforts into writing a super long fanfiction was to support them. Along the way, I tried to support morals and themes such as discrimination and the fact that people fear what is different and this was a great case for Raphael being a vampire and all. And then there's Talim who comes up with things such as "Hate will not heal you" and things such as compassion for the suffering everyone experiences deep down. It's weird, I knew that it wasn't a popular shipping so there wouldn't be much reviews but I did it because it I wanted to. ^^ It seems that I've actually managed to convert some people into liking this couple so I feel kinda successful. Well, that's my strange reason as to why I like writing fanfics.
Hmm...Sometimes, people will write to persuade others to look at a char from a different light. Most villians in animes and such don't become evil over night. Sure He Who Must Not Be Named (Voldemort) is a bad guy but he had a tragic past right? Some people want to write about his past and show that sad fate he's gone through and the logic behind his reasoning. That's what I think..
P.S How far did you get for my story anyway? I thought I got them in character but who knows... :/

1) Creativity.
2) The joy of creating a story that I probably will never experience.
3) These characters are what made me write the story. I do have my own characters for my own story that I'm building right now. Honestly, if SC didn't exist I probably wouldn't be writing fanfiction. In my next story, I might have OC characters mixed with the SC cast.

I want readers to see this "crazy, creative imagination" I keep claiming myself to have.
